The environment is friendly and casual. This is very much a family business. There are often three or four instructors for each class, which is great for the younger students. The class splits into various belt colors (white, yellow, orange) to suit their different skill levels. They play, exercise and practice respect and self defense. Despite my genetic hypermobility, I lacked the musculature and training to kick above my waist. Master Giamo recognized my untapped potential and took me under his wing. I am now a 5th Dan. After the match, while waiting for the next match, the 13 year old boy came up behind my 7 year old, picked him up in the air, and threw him, landing him on his arm, and hurting him. When I spoke to the owners, not only did they not reprimand the 13 yr old, but they said I "should've been watching" and it's just rough housing. Master Cashatt treated me with the utmost respect and helpfully challenged me to rise above my circumstances. Throughout my experience at the school, I have always felt respected and encouraged. Whether directly from Master Cashatt or from one of his excellent instructors, I learned to accept instruction with humility and respect under all circumstances. From the get-go, I was always encouraged to live by the five tenets of Taekwon-Do (courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, indomitable spirit) both in word and in deed. I did not have to look far to find role models when it came to these tenets. I've come to regard Master Cashatt as one of my first and greatest mentors who has not only spurred me on to such great feats as earning my fourth degree black belt, but also earning a gold medal at the International Taekwon-Do Federation's 2010 World Championships in South Korea. While I could certainly continue lauding him and his school for the fantastic things they have done for me and my peers, I must also speak to how much of a family we are at Master Cashatt's school. Over the years, we have lost several students to tragedies, and we as a student body felt each loss. We shared in mourning and we worked hard to comfort each other in grief. We've raised thousands of dollars over the years in support for our members and our families in times of hardship and tragedy. Master Cashatt's school truly goes beyond the call of duty. Master Cashatt and fellow instructors even attended my father's memorial service this past April, something that is not required, not expected, but done nonetheless. I cannot fully express my appreciation for Cashatt's Taekwon-DO School Inc for the work that has been done in my life, but I do know that it is from this fantastic foundation that I will go on to spread this same love and passion for Taekwon-Do in the world. We had already done a 2 week trial at another karate establishment and was not happy with them as they had so many children already, I felt if we signed up, ours would not get the attention they would need to really learn, plus the prices they were charging were extremely expensive. Then I did a little research and emailed Dragon Law TKD. Within 5 minutes, Master Luke was calling my house to answer any questions we had. On another occassion before we signed up, we wanted to check out the establishment. We just showed up unannounced and he happened to be closed. I called his cell phone # and he told me he would be there in 5 minutes which he was. Now more importantly, after we signed up. My kids love going to Tae Kwon Do and Master Walsh is amazing with these kids. He does an incredible job of not only teaching TKD but life lessons throughout each training session. He is the real deal and is a 6th degree black belt. Anyone who asks me where to send there kid for any of the above, easily gets the answer Dragon Law TKD. Also, the prices are very reasonable but more importantly your child will learn self value, respect, integrity, and self defense. That, you cannot put a price on.
