I'm a creature of habit so we normally park at the Wayne Ave Garage, nearby. This garage has a few entrances. We looked at the color of the level and space numbers. We got a bit confused when returning to find the car. I prefer Wayne Ave Garage. The entrance was narrow. I didn't like it as a driver or pedestrian. The garage is free in the evening. I noticed the closest pay station was out of order. Even though the garage was a block closer, I will park where I feel more comfortable in the future. read more

I have parked in this garage a lot lately for my retail work assignments and for fun. It is clean and we'll maintained. The garage is only free on evenings after 7 pm & weekends. All levels and parking spaces are well marked as are the stairs and elevators. There are large signs that direct people to the adjacent retail shopping areas both at street level that includes Chick-fil-a and in the 5 story Ellsworth mall with stores like Five Below and Michaels. You get your ticket upon entering and pay at the pay stations. There are 2 of them where the connector bridge meets the parking garage for the mall on level 5. At the exit of the garage there are three gates to insert the paid ticket into making things as fast as possible. You can only turn left upon existing back onto the street. $1 an hour seems fair enough. I arrived late on Sunday evening when the gates were up and they weren't giving out tickets. I left Tuesday morning and fortunately, there was an attendant in the garage who was able to give me a ticket so that I could pay for Monday. Easy! The garage is well lit and there's plenty of room in the aisles. It's very helpful that there are counters telling you how many spaces are available on each floor so that you know whether or not it's worth searching before heading further up in the deck. read more

As I was leaving today, an attendant handed me a slip of paper which stated New Parking Hours with big lettering stating THIS GARAGE. Now there will be an attendant until 9pm starting July 20, 2015. Payment of $1.00/hr is still until 7pm, but now you'll have to pay the piper if you exit before 9 pm. I still like this garage. It's better than paying with coins. It's better than far gouging Bethesda. Best part: You are near everything in Downtown Silver Spring. read more

Clean and safe garage. It's one dollar and hour and free after 7pm and on the weekends, which is great because most events begin at night or on the weekends in dtss. This parking lot is attached to the mall by an closed overpass walkway. They use to have an area downstairs where you could pay tickets, but I isn't see it the other day. read more

Great location, right by the fountain and all the main attractions. I've never used the ticket machines, so I can't attest to the complaints some yelpers have of them, just pay at the gate and no issues. There's multiple levels with plenty of spaces, and it's free after 7PM and on weekends, really convenient. Otherwise, it's a $1 per hour, which really shouldn't be a complaint. read more

Pro- Large garage, enough parking, at very good location. Con- None of the vending machine worked. The machine took the ticket, but did not return it with the error "The transaction is aborted" for over 10 customers while we were trying to leave the building. No one at the desk and these machines doesn't have "cancel' button. Help button beeps but if no one is nearby then you want be helped. Typical way of conducting business by Montgomery county officials similar to speeding camera business. Dump your vending machines, what a hassle. read more

Its funny the things that make other things just that much better. And yes, that is my reason for giving a humble parking garage 4-stars. I come up to the AFI Cinema often. Before I started parking here - there was always the somewhat chaotic decision of where to park: the surface lot on the interior of the block of buildings opposite, the rare street space, the garage down the street, etc... but now, there's no question. I just round the corner, take a little jag into the upper entrance and without a doubt - no matter what time of day I've come - I'm settled into a space with no trouble at all. If I can't find one on the level I enter - I've only ever needed to look up one level. Parking is free on weekends, but on weekdays/evenings you'll need to use the pay terminals near the elevator entrance or the drive out exit to park. I've only had to pay for parking once, but it didn't strike me as being highway robbery. Don't worry if you forget to cash out your stub by the elevator - there's some parking near the exit set aside just for you to use to pay the ticket prior to leaving. Wide ramps (though they are 2-way) make navigating between levels easy. This garage is incredibly convenient to Town Square, AFI, City Place mall, movie theater and the host of eateries and shops you'll find in the area. Us the pedestrian skybridge to get to the mall and the elevators & stairs on the side and end to get to the ground level. read more

New payment hours went into effect recently gates are meant to go up at 10 pm however the parking attendant working 1-13-22 kept them down until 11 pm despite Silver Spring's County website saying 10 and signage placed at all entrances saying 10 when this was brought to the parking attendance attention he was more than comfortable yelling and lying. read more

Location, location, location. Half a block from the movie theater and restaurant row, a block from the Fillmore and AFI. One twist - although parking is free after 7, they keep the exit gates operating until at least 8:30 (when I left) so you must pay for any time between when you entered and 7. Can't gripe too much about $1, as I arrived just after 6, but just so you know. read more

This garage is large and modern, with over 1,200 spaces. There are electronic signs saying how many spaces are available on each level (unfortunately, these signs are often out-of-order). Special ramps allow you to move quickly between levels. There's also a convenient pedestrian bridge to City Place. This is my preferred parking spot in Silver Spring! read more
