Love this vineyard!! A bit more refined than other wineries in the area. Great selection of whites and reds. Love the ambiance and service is always friendly!! The import some of the red grapes from California for their reserves which I think is a pretty good indication that their winemakers know what grapes are really well produced in Wisconsin. They host yoga and wine in the summer time which is great and I've gone several times. read more

My recent visit was on a beautiful fall day, and it seems that everyone in a 100-mile radius had the same idea! Although the parking lot was full and the winery was bustling, we still got a warm welcome. Sidle on up to the tasting counter and try a few varieties of their vines. If you happen to be the driver, there is an array of non-alcoholic beverages, including alcohol-removed wine if you still want to feel a bit festive (not the winery's label, but still a more fun alternative to bottled water). Your visit is not complete until you head out to the back terrace. Relax on the outdoor couch and watch the sun slip down behind the bluffs on the Minnesota side of the Mississippi, and enjoy a nibble from a cheese plate as you while away the evening. If you like to eat cheese and drink wine this is your place. I've visited a lot of wineries and this one is by far the best for atmosphere, having charcuterie, and overall experience. There are several different kinds of wine to choose from too. The huge $50 platter has the best blueberry cheese I've ever had and you get a ton of it. You'll want to have like 6 people to chow it down though cause we couldn't even make a dent in it. They have events throughout the week too like live music, yoga, craft fairs, etc read more

A beautiful place with lots of seating outside. It was a crisp fall day but nice and sunny! I sat in the tent and enjoyed the live jazz band. There were a lot of people but they had plenty of seating. It's clear people come here frequently. Some families even brought blankets to picnic on the grass. I tried a couple flights and had the salami cheese platter. For covid, food comes in boxes and tasting wines in small bottles. Everything I tried was unique and delicious! The grounds are beautiful for walking around. A great experience and I'd be happy to return. One thing I did notice, wines online are more expensive than in person. My niece planned a visit to this place with 16 other family members. At the front door she was told because she wasn't going to have wine, she may not be allowed to enter. Even when she explained to the hostess that she was pregnant, she said she had to make sure it was ok with the owner, because as she said, they make their money by people buying wine. Came in for a first-time visit with my mom. It was pretty busy for a Sunday, but we never felt rushed or ignored. The view is stunning, and I can't wait to see it on a sunny summer day. Ethan was the person who assisted us from beginning to end, and we had a wonderful conversation with him about the wine selection and life in general. He is well informed, friendly and so fun to chat with. The tastings are still COVID-style, meaning you get little 2-oz bottles instead of pours, which wasn't a problem for us at all. My personal recommendation is the Marquette Rosé. Can't wait to come back! read more

We found Elmaro Vineyard on a bright and sunny summer Saturday. Our family was so surprised to pull up to the most beautiful land, well kept buildings and amazing [huge] patio. There was plenty of wine for tasting indoors and outdoors there was plenty of seating. A food trucks supplied some eats along with a kitchen running inside. While we sipped the bottles we purchased, live music rung out in the tent so we stayed for a couple hours to take it all in. It was a beautiful day when we arrived and the place was busy. We threaded our way through to the outdoor tasting area under a tent, where there was a three-piece group playing some good tunes. The wine was good, but I am sure the atmosphere contributed a lot to our enjoyment. While there, about 80 motorcycles arrived on a charity run, and they were interesting folks to observe and chat with. It's a beautiful setting and the staff was extremely friendly. We visited seven wineries over our weekend, and this one we enjoyed the most. read more

Stopped here on Veteran's Day weekend this year. Unfortunately we did not realize that there was a concurrent Wine Tasting event - the Great River Road Wine Trail that same weekend. After frustration with the wineries on the Minnesota side we stopped here on a Sunday afternoon expecting to find more bitter and sickly sweet reds, or mouth puckering whites...imagine our surprise to find the closet thing to the Hahn Winery in Monterey County, California. Score! ENVIRONMENT: Well lit, spacious tasting bar. Outside patio with a very excellent view and hidden seating. Clean and spacious restrooms, and an event room where the trail tasters were set up. Crackers were provided between each taste. WINE/FOOD: They are one of the few to be able to turn out a dry red from the Marquette grape . This was truly appreciated after trying so many sickly sweet reds along the road. Also offered were tapas - plates of cheeses, meats, bread, olives, etc., at a reasonable price. Available for purchase were artisan chocolates and other edible goodies, as well as candles and other gifts. We brought a picnic lunch with us which we supplemented. SERVICE: We were attended by Cameron who noted right away that we weren't a part of the Wine Trail participants and stepped up to show us their best. He was knowledgeable and welcoming, even inviting us to the music and food later that day for the Wine Trail Participants even though were not a part of the group. We were also there to witness the receipt of a letter from the First Lady of Wisconsin praising the vineyard after her recent visit. I couldn't agree more. We ordered food and a glass of wine and were attended to while we sat on the terrace. Heat lamps were available making this a comfortable experience on a windy fall day. OVERALL: The wines are less expensive than other vineyards in the area and personally I felt that they were some of best. This plus the ambiance of the vineyard, the view, and the friendliness will bring us back. It is a hidden jewel and well worth the return trip! read more

Loved this little winery! We stopped by last Saturday and had perfect early fall weather (sunny and low 60s). I felt like I was back in Sonoma, CA! The tasting room is new and clean, and the outside has a very large patio with lots of comfortable chairs. They offer 3 free tastings and you can get 7 tastings for $5. I thought the cheese plates would have been a bit bigger for the group I was with. My husband and I had a huge request for Elmaro, we asked them if we could do our gender reveal party there and the owners gladly agreed to this request. They went above and beyond to make our day special. They planned the whole event, set up everything and even coordinated the cupcakes for us. Wow. Making your way through literal nowhere to get here is worth every sharp country bend. My wife and I did the tasting and fell in love with nearly every wine. The attention to detail in the decor and cleanliness helps elevate this winery above the rest. The patio is a thing of beauty. Look out over the vineyard while you enjoy your favorite wine. The food is a perfect pair and has something for everything. I'm not into wine, but had a wonderful time here. We bought a bottle for only $13 of Edelweiss. Stopped at this vineyard while on a Mississippi River road trip. The setting is very pretty and I honestly wasn't expecting a place this large. The patio is quite large and very dog friendly (they even brought over a water bowl for our pup). We were there on a Saturday afternoon and they had a food truck so we opted to try that rather than the vineyard's cheese plates. This obviously isn't Napa or France, but the wines were quite good for relaxing on a sunny afternoon. Service was also extremely friendly. Middle of the day on a Tuesday, 85 degrees out, there were 5 of us and they wouldn't pull an extra table or chair for us unless it was outside in the grass. I had 2 children with (and 2 other adults) with and drove a very long way to try the wine after a good recommendation. Elmaro use to be one of the top wineries to visit in the area, now when you visit it's like going to a general bar. They give you your glass of wine in a plastic cup, minimal customer service.
