Great experience with cataract surgery. No wait time. 15 minute actual surgery time. Friendly staff. The equipment Dr. Rodriguez used seemed to be state of the art. I was in and out in less than 90 minute. By the end of the day I was seeing in technicolor. Highly recommend Elmquest and Dr Rodriguez. The eye Dr I saw up and through both of my cataract surgeries were amazing. However, now I'm dealing with over 10 mos of being hounded for a payment that was already paid. I couldn't proceed with my cataract surgery unless it was completely paid in full to BOTH the Elmquist AND the surgery center. Now they have sent it to collections. I will NEVER use them again or recommend them and I will make sure that everyone I speak with understands my situation. We paid at the surgery center and at Elmquist. $4000/eye = $8000!!! For cataract surgery, I accidentally went to the office and not the surgery center. Waited outside from 6:25AM until I finally got someone on the phone at 6:50. Had to press the option for post surgery assistance. Eye Specialist and Laser surgery center could have called when I was late, but they didn't check on me. When I got here, no wifi, no coffee for my driver. Asked about coffee (sign says out of order) but told they haven't had coffee since Covid. Damn. I hope the actual surgery area is better maintained and up to date than the poor quality of the front office staff and environment. read more

BEWARE OF ELMQUIST EYE -This office is bait and switch and operate with predatory financial practices just as other reviews have stated! I made an appointment for a cataract exam. I provided my insurance information and asked what my cost would be. I was told by their office that there is no charge to me. The day of the appointment I arrived, had an exam and was told I am not yet eligible for cataract surgery. At checkout I was told I owed them for an eye exam for glasses. When I told her I did not come in for an exam for glasses the desk woman left, conferred with someone and came back and agreed I did not owe for that. Today I received a late notice via text that I have a balance of $169 that must be paid. I called to clear this up and the office replied that 'nothing in life is free' for which I understandt. My insurance had paid benefits - the exam was definitely not free. The group insists that I owe $169 for a procedure which I was told there would be no cost to me. The response is a demeaning "you should know nothing in life is free" rather than attempting to discover why their appointment staff incorrectly tells new patients that there is no cost to them. Amazing. Dr Eccles Brown is meticulous. I can't say enough good about her. We had a lot of conversation between the first eye and the second to make sure we were matching my needs with the correct lens. Her bedside manner and follow up was incredible. I recommend her highly. I was an unusual client in that I'm in my 50's and still working in the business world and had specific needs. DANGER!!! PREDATORY FINANCIAL PRACTICES!!!! This place is terrible. Avoid at all costs!!!!!! My parents are in their late 70's and are no dummies. This guy, George had the audacity to quote my parents over $1000 for glass with NO FRAMES! That was the cost of the lenses. Together the final quote was over $2500. My parents were very skeptical so they went somewhere else. Went to two other places and were quoted $700 for BOTH of their glasses. I am appalled and at this point I believe this place to be unethical and predatory. I will be reporting them. They only respond to "Due to HIPPA"-HIPPA protects privacy NOT extortion. As a new patient, I tried to book a routine appointment. My primary care referred me to this practice for what appears to be the start of cataracts. The girl who answered was so beyond rude. She clearly did not feel like booking an appt. I had already checked with my insurance company to make sure they were in-network, which I told her. She said the exam was $280 if they don't pay--I said no problem, I just want my eyes checked, and that my primary care referred me to them. She then said well it could be more, and all of the doctors are booked out. I said OK, no problem I can wait. She came up with yet another unprofessional response, so I finally asked her if they don't see routine patients, and she didn't answer. So I asked to speak with her office manager because this was going nowhere. She hung up. I called back (got someone different) and asked for the manager--I was put on hold--when they came back I was told the manager had gone for the day. So I asked for the manager's name so that I could call her tomorrow, and the girl on the phone said she can take my number and the manager will call ME "when she has time". Wow. Just wow. Will let my primary care know so she can refer elsewhere. read more

I have learned quite a bit about Glaucoma since my initial diagnosis by Elmquist. Specifically, Elmquist's diagnosis of glaucoma has subsequently been substantiated by two different providers. The Elmquist ophthalmologist and I also agree that a second opinion regarding preferred treatment options can be useful. Finally, I have been advised that Elmquist has recently made some personnel changes to their Ft. Myers administrative staff that should result in a more "patient-friendly' experience. read more

I contacted Elmquist Eye Care on February 9, 2020 after being referred to them by a friend in the area. I am from Michigan and was visiting and had the signs of a detached or torn retina. Because it was a weekend I had to wait for a call back and I got a call from a delightful doctor. (Unfortunately I did not get her name.) After hearing my symptoms she suggested I get to an emergency room right away. She told me that any of the emergency rooms should have an ophthalmologist on call. She was very kind and very concerned, and told me to be sure and call them the next day if I didn't get taken care of at the ER. She called me the following day to check on me, which I thought was extremely nice of her. She seemed genuinely concerned and was happy to hear that it was not a detached retina. I asked her a few questions, which she answered and made me feel very comfortable about flying home the next day. Although I never saw any of the doctors in that office, based on the care I received on the phone, I would certainly recommend Elmquist Eye Care! read more

Eye Associates is great! They have excellent doctors who are willing to take the time to talk to you and explain any issues. The assistants who work you up before you see the doctor are very polite and professional and know what they are doing. Eye Associates also has an optical shop where I bought a really nice pair of regular glasses and sunglasses that they put my prescription in! I love those! read more

I was there about 2/3 years ago and then again last year. Both times they called me after the fact and said that they made a mistake on their bill and that I owed them more $$. The first time I went back in and paid it. The second time I questioned it. They called back and the additional charge was even higher. Their reasoning for this was they forgot to charge for measuring my eyes for the contacts. Well, they never did that and just prescribed the same size without measuring. Not a good way to do business. So beware! I think they have a scam going. read more

I wanted to find a practice where you are not a number and you matter. This is it. The people in the office are kind and professional . The nurses and Dr Elmquist take time to listen and they care.
