Hiked up and across, ate the lunch we'd brought at one of the umbrella'ed tables near the playground, and then the skies opened up; drove back to Manhattan on an almost flooded Bronx River Parkway. Grandson back for a visit this year, wanted to go back! Zipcar got more expensive, so I followed the directions on their website using public transportation. DON'T! The website says take Metronorth to White Plains and then a Bee-line bus, #6, to the Dam Plaza. We found the bus stop, and the schedule said 11:43. Perfect, right? Not. 12:43 came and went. Other buses came and went. The #6 never showed up, so finally we took a taxi for $20.00. Took 10 minutes to get there. Better to take a train to Valhalla and walk the less than a mile or Uber for 8.95 or something like that. Watch the schedule for going back to Grand Central, because in the afternoon it seems to run just once an hour. Plan accordingly. Otherwise we had a good time.

my bowling buddy told me about this small semi hidden dog park in north yonkers near the metro…read morenorth station and a stone throw away from the hudson river. please read the rules cause they are enforced to the max and i saw with my own eyes a yonkers park worker ask a lady with her dog to leave as the dog was out of control. nothing fancy here , no water fountain , old tennis and sponge balls are the only toys available, ground is mostly dirt/sand mixture, not much room for dogs to run but overall its ok as its quiet and view of hudson is scenic as you take a seat at one of the two benches while mr pickles makes a friend with a pug who really likes to play. just follow the endless rules , control your dog and dont stare at the stunning gal with the playful pug and all will be just fine.

They sell all types of goodies from fresh produce picked by the people selling it to baked goods, fresh breads and pasta to candles, lotions/potions and fresh cut flowers. They don't have many vendors but this is about QUALITY. Seasonal produce is highlighted but they do have produce that is off season as well. The farmers who sell produce are extremely knowledgeable and proud of the foods they sell. All the vendors are personable and charismatic. I would suggest going even if you don't plan on purchasing anything! If you sign up for their weekly newsletter then you'll know which vendors will be appearing that week. Supporting local businesses by word of mouth is equally as important to me as monetary support. Stop by if you have the time and check out the local goods and harvest!
