Tug checking out where to lay out to catch some rays!

I heard about this dog beach at a dog run in Queens one day. They made it sound like it was something amazing, so I had to check it out. Things it has going for it: - Its in a nice/safe area - Its water access for your dog to swim - Area is clean enough - Plenty of shade away from water Things it has against it: - No bathrooms (for humans) at this beach - No drinking water for dogs - No poop bags - Limited seating - Parking is on street (no parking lot) there is not street parking on Park Ave near this dog beach. - Rather small in size Its not a bad little area to bring your do to swim. I wasn't really overwhelmed... I was expecting more by what I heard. When I was there it must of been high tide since there was only 50 feet of water frontage at that time. I looked at google maps and it shows it at low tide and it does look a lot bigger. So if you time it right, your dog will have more room to run. Please note this area is not enclosed. There is a fence separating this area from the Larchmont Manor Beach area to the east, but there is no fence where you access this beach. I plan on coming back when its low tide and see if the experience is any different. Dog runs/parks I have been to so far: http://www.yelp.com/list/nyc-area-dog-parks-runs-new-york-4

During low tide around 11am the water is perfect for short legged dogs.

Went 2x in one day. The 1st visit we arrived around 11am. The water was calm and perfect for my English bulldog. It's not a certified dog beach but it's a small area for dogs to run and have fun. It's not gated but there's a ledge and some steps that make it where dogs can't just run out. Since my dog isn't an experienced swimmer I kept her on leash and went in the water with her (WEAR SHORTS) the temperature was perfect and she really enjoyed herself. There was only one other pet parent there so no issues with us leaving our bag and flip flops off to the side and the other dog there at the time paid My dog no mind. The 2nd visit was after 6pm and the waves were wild and Diamond was nervous but still enjoyed herself. We parked about 2 blocks over and walked to the water (just follow Beach ave it's leads right into the area) and I brought Diamond's water and poop bags. (There are none). It's a great place for pets of all sizes but do dress accordingly so u can go in and have fun with them.

What a find! This beach is an oasis for dogs. Where else around this area can you find a FREE beach that lets your dog run free? Low tide is a must. Our dog had the best day ever today.

Took my dog there on the 4th of July even though I read reviews of people getting tickets. There was a good amount of dogs there doing their own thing in and out of the water. Most of them were off leash even though there was a clear sign that said dogs must be leashed. I was able to take my dog to an area where there weren't many dogs around because he can be picky with other dogs. We went in the water, there were a lot of little rocks on the ground that hurt to walk on, my dog also seemed bothered by it but we still tried to enjoy our visit.

Great dog beach. Friendly owners and dogs. The only thing I don't like is that there's no where you and your dog can rinse off. The water is kinda dirty but it's good enough for dogs. Parking is very easy to find . Drive pass the dog park and there is public parking.

My dog felt in love with this beach. I took her yesterday to help her cool off and she had a blast. Great idea by the community. Dogs love the water and to do Aqua workout, this place provides both. Highly recommend for dog owners. The area is beautiful and well kept. My doggie favorite spot, bookmarked!

Totally confusing website Website doesn't actually work and…read moreit might be that u can inly get tickets 9-5 monday-friday No one answers the phone monday-friday Says you can buy tickets in person-but one point. Parking-it is $40. At the kiosk it is $7...maybe you have to buy a ticket in the website that doesnt work or by the phone number that no one answer's? Which amount and method is the right one and which one will get you a ticket? Do you need a set of tarot cards to find out? Look at the pictures from the website thst wont actually let you buy a ferry ticket All of this is designed to keep people out of the island I thought i might be able to get a ticket day of since i wasn't able to before hand The lady worker went out of her way to scream ar me and call me stupid Attached are the instructions from the awful website Thanks for screwing up my birthday

GREAT BEACH, AWFUL GOVT…read more You can park a couple blocks away, then take a fun, 20-minute ferry ride from Greenwich Harbor. The island includes a slightly-rocky beach with shaded benches; a park area with a playground, BBQs, and picnic tables; and restrooms and a snack bar. Cost, not incl. parking, can be up to $19 per person aged 5-64 y.o.. But Greenwich govt. is a joke: odd policies, inconvenient requirements, key info either missing or buried on website. Make sure you get a Park Pass before doing anything else. To board the ferry, you need not only a ticket, but also a Park Pass - which isn't sold at the ferry ticket counter. They're sold only at various civic centers, located 3-5 miles away, and *not open on weekends*. Also, the Parks & Rec webpage on Park Passes doesn't mention cost; you have to look at their Ferry PDF. Then consider parking at Horseneck Parking lot. On weekends, it's free. A parking attendant advised this, and it was corroborated by a sign at Horseneck indicating that the lot was reserved for Greenwich residents with the "G" permit on M-F 9a-5p. As of this writing, the Parks & Rec webpage cites only the parking lot across from the ferry, which the aforementioned parking attendant advised can cost up to $35 per car. The most recent Parking dept. press release with news about these lots doesn't mention this cost. A ferry ticket is up to $12 per person aged 5-64 y.o..
