Nice little beach for the puppers. Check the tide levels before coming because they usually get pretty high during the afternoon and it makes it much more difficult to exit the beach. Dogs are supposed to be on leash, but many people just had them off leash up until a patrol officer with pork chop sideburns came around and told everyone to leash up their dogs. Recommend getting a 20-30 ft leash if that's the case. He didn't stay around for too long so most people unleashed their dogs afterwards. Water is not suitable for humans to swim in and filled with dog fur so not the best idea. read more

This dog beach is just okay. There is a portion of it that is not a dog beach that dogs seem to wander onto. It is separated by rocks. Ideally, a dog beach wouldn't have so many rocks. Obviously they are uncomfortable for the paw. The shoreline is not thick, so there really isn't much space to play. To me it was fun because I like watching dogs swim and play while they are in the water. The area itself is probably not even well-suited to be a dog beach at all. It's nice that it is provided regardless of how small it is. To me a dog beach is a section of a real recreational beach set for dogs. read more

I heard about this dog beach at a dog run in Queens one day. They made it sound like it was something amazing, so I had to check it out. Things it has going for it: - Its in a nice/safe area - Its water access for your dog to swim - Area is clean enough - Plenty of shade away from water Things it has against it: - No bathrooms (for humans) at this beach - No drinking water for dogs - No poop bags - Limited seating - Parking is on street (no parking lot) there is not street parking on Park Ave near this dog beach. - Rather small in size Its not a bad little area to bring your do to swim. I wasn't really overwhelmed... I was expecting more by what I heard. When I was there it must of been high tide since there was only 50 feet of water frontage at that time. I looked at google maps and it shows it at low tide and it does look a lot bigger. So if you time it right, your dog will have more room to run. Please note this area is not enclosed. There is a fence separating this area from the Larchmont Manor Beach area to the east, but there is no fence where you access this beach. Went 2x in one day. The 1st visit we arrived around 11am. The water was calm and perfect for my English bulldog. It's not a certified dog beach but it's a small area for dogs to run and have fun. It's not gated but there's a ledge and some steps that make it where dogs can't just run out. Since my dog isn't an experienced swimmer I kept her on leash and went in the water with her (WEAR SHORTS) the temperature was perfect and she really enjoyed herself. There was only one other pet parent there so no issues with us leaving our bag and flip flops off to the side and the other dog there at the time paid My dog no mind. The 2nd visit was after 6pm and the waves were wild and Diamond was nervous but still enjoyed herself. We parked about 2 blocks over and walked to the water (just follow Beach ave it's leads right into the area) and I brought Diamond's water and poop bags. (There are none). It's a great place for pets of all sizes but do dress accordingly so u can go in and have fun with them. read more

It's ridiculous that dog owners are now being fined for letting dogs off leash or letting them (gasp!) swim. Since time immemorial dogs have run free here... Beautiful little beach for doggies. There's a really nice park for long walks also. I think dog parent like the beach more than the dogs. Sand gets everywhere. Bring a towel. Parking can be a challenge but doggies can use the exercise. read more

We love this doggie beach. Just go when it's low tide so you can have access to the entire beach. During high tide, you only get to play in a little section. They have a trashcan right before you enter. They have one bench to sit on. It's FREE to enter and parking is FREE!! I have never had trouble finding parking. I don't see any trash on the beach for the times that I've been there. The community is great and lots of friendly dogs. As of now, this is one of my favorite dog beaches. So I've taken monkey (my pup) to several parks/dog runs and ect in New York. This is probably our new favorite place. It's residential parking so you might have to walk a few blocks but it's not bad. The views are amazing and the beach is really pretty compared to others. The doggie beach is perfect for all dogs shapes and sizes- but new rule was in place and dogs have to be on a leash now but monkey got his play time in prior to the local police coming and letting the owners know. Only downfall is that it's a little snug there- the dogs can play fetch and swim and enjoy the water- or just sunbathe. Bring a beach blanket or something in case you wanna sit. But it's a great place to bring the pups to cool off and hang out in the sun. read more

Took my dog there on the 4th of July even though I read reviews of people getting tickets. There was a good amount of dogs there doing their own thing in and out of the water. Most of them were off leash even though there was a clear sign that said dogs must be leashed. I was able to take my dog to an area where there weren't many dogs around because he can be picky with other dogs. We went in the water, there were a lot of little rocks on the ground that hurt to walk on, my dog also seemed bothered by it but we still tried to enjoy our visit. read more

First visit to the beach. It's nice enough, after reading the reviews wasn't sure what to expect. Wasn't sure if OK to let dog off or not. Majority rules so we did. Not the prettiest beach but I would say great for dogs. The cons finding a place to park your car. If you walk further around (under the bridge) it looks like less rocks and someone mentioned less likely to be fined. It is rock so you will need to keep your shoes on. I would say give it a try. Don't plan on staying all day though. read more

I thought this doggie beach was awful! It's not fenced in. Dogs are required to be on leashes, but someone told me it doesn't matter, police don't pay attention and dogs are let loose. Not the case. While I was there, a cop did come around and ticket people. It was high tide and there was virtually no beach left. Sand was rocks and glass. I also heard about dogs getting sand fleas there. It's a long walk from the car parked on residential streets for nothing. On a positive note, the park is beautiful. It's a nice walk with a view and very peaceful. Good place for walking on a leash...not running around free and swimming! read more

Love it, had a good time with my dog. He's not neutered so we kept him on a leash. Some people there didn't have their dogs on leashes so it was a little problem at first, but we just went further down and it was no problem at all. My pup had fun in the water ! read more

I have been meaning to review this place since the summer. This is not a beach. Its a small sliver of land between a private club and private property. Many people take their dogs there but its crazy there. You cant swim, it can be crowded with people and dogs, and really can't take your dog off their leash there since the police have been enforcing this rule. They did not always care but now with the crowds it has changed. Note: The next door park though, Manor Park is a really nice place. Now that is a place to visit and walk your dog. Just don't let it run wild or you will be yelled at by park police. read more

I went today with my dog and the police were there giving $175 tickets for dogs off leash. They told us no people were allowed in the water and no dogs were allowed off leash. When one couple protested that we've all been going peacefully for years and the place is advertised as a dog beach, the police said the new mayor has decided otherwise. After seeing other people get ticketed, we left very sadly. This is a small section of beach and it was all we had in the greater NYC area. I'm really disappointed by the new Mayor's decision to prohibit swimming and dogs off leash. read more
