This iteration of The Elmwood seems to do it well. The patio seating is great, the menu preserves some of the original character, and the space is the same old Elmwood that we remember. Al Ham sandwich!

This was my first time here and a friend and I came after a Yelp Event at Mt. Hope Cemetery across the street, which if you've never visited......I also highly recommend. We sat outside at the Elmwood Inn and Lisa was our server. She was fantastic- friendly, attentive and pretty much running the whole show that day. My friend ordered a burger with onion rings and Lisa suggested the beer battered haddock sandwich for me. It came with lettuce and tartar sauce on fresh brioche bread and I had coleslaw on the side. Everything was delicious and I would definitely recommend checking this place out.

Thanksgiving Dinner on their set menu was wonderful. No way I could've cooked all that food for the price that they charged. Lisa, our server was great...quick with the cocktails and food came out right away. Good and hot and delicious! Big portions! Couldn't have been happier.

A few people suggested this place for a good fish fry, so off I went with some family. I thought the outdated interior aesthetic was interesting. The fish fries going around looked huge and delicious, and it was getting me excited. I asked them to toss some Cajun spices on mine - which didn't happen. All 3 of us that had fish fries all agreed - the fish fries were extremely bland and lacked flavor. The tartar sauce was very good, but I've always felt a great fish fry should be able to be flavorful on its own. The "salt and vinegar" fries were also very bland, and tasted like they were made in old fryer oil. The garlic broccoli was the star of the foods I tried. The final nail was that for unexplained reasons, it took an extra 30 minutes to get the check, long after leftovers had already been boxed. I'm glad I tried this place out, but doubt I would ever come back.

Lots of choices in the menu like fried wings, tenders app, soup, salads an Applewood BLT sandwich, corned beef rueben sandwich, burgers ,quesadillas and a fish sandwich. With fast and friendly service I received my pub battered fish fry which was a huge piece of wild caught Icelandic haddock beer battered that included French fries and coleslaw and was very tasty.

Just got back from dinner at the Elmwood Inn and I have to say I have forgotten what a great place this is! It's been along time since we've been there, and we will definitely be going back again very soon! We both had the beer battered fish fry with french fries, and coleslaw. Oh my goodness...second to none! We have been having fish fries this lent at various places around Rochester, and by far this was the most delicious we've had. Even though it was beer battered, it was light and the fish was so sweet. Cannot say enough good things about it. And the Elmwood is so quaint and roomy. Even on a Friday night...Good Friday..., we did not feel crowded or rushed. The service was excellent and the Guinness, delicious! Thank you, Elmwood! We'll back very soon!

I came here on a Thursday night with a bigger group - 9 people. The service was not that great average at best. She did split our bill though but the timelines wasn't there. However the reason why it wasn't the best was the quality of the food. I got a favorite on the menu the Elmwood angus dip ... Totally made wrong ..wrong cheese bread and everything but the worst was the quality of the beef was terrible and cooked wrong. My mom got the chicken French and it was terrible as well. The people who got burgers though really liked their burgers. However the one request someone made was already on their menu but because they customized the burger they charged him more. It was nice though that they gave us little coupon gifts to come back ... But I won't be coming back.

Good local bar and food. Good food good service. Enjoyed for a stop while out and not wanting a chain.

We were very underwhelmed by this place. Very average food at a higher price than it's worth. Didn't even finish the leftovers.

Ordered on grubhub. Kind of a let down - $18 club on standard sized white bread and like a dozen fries. I wouldn't order here again.

There was a youth softball team celebrating the end of the season upstairs so it was a bit loud, but fun. It's right on the creek and there's plenty of outside seating and picnic tables so if the weathers nice you can get your food and beverages and head outside. The bar tenders were all good, let us try a couple samples to make sure we were gonna like what we ordered. There's a separate spot to order food and the young girls working the food spot were unenthusiastic... We ordered the chorizo poutine, Roni Stark Pizza and Tampa Bay Bustdown burger. The pizza was good, honey drizzle was a nice touch, but the poutine and burger were the clear winners. Chorizo gravy had a good kick, and there were big chunks of cheese curd, nice. The burger had 2 smashed patties, nice crispy edges and a ton of flavor. The Gouda cheese and bacon they are using are both high quality. A lot of variety of beers on tap, not all IPAs which was nice for someone that isn't an IPA guy. Tried 2 lager, an ale and a pilsner they had on tap and I'd drink any of them again.

Ample space both upstairs and downstairs. + 2 of the 4 sours I had were decent. + Great for kiddos as they have an outdoor space that's family and dog friendly. It was very busy the day we went with a fun atmosphere outside. + Historic venue with a nice restoration for the brewery. The less great: + The setup means long waits. Having to wait in line for beers in a completely packed brewery with two bartenders is not a way to run a business. They need to consider a new strategy for ensuring they can accommodate the volume they are currently doing. + Had a bite of someone's burger and found it more or less inedible. + My parents had attempted to organize a large family gathering on the day we were there and while I wasn't involved in the planning, there seemed to be missteps and miscommunications along the way that weren't met with much empathy or customer service in mind. Too many great breweries in Rochester to waste time on spots that aren't going to ensure guest satisfaction. Great location though! This place is so, so busy it's obvious the east side isn't brewery saturated (somehow) quite yet.
