Service in the seating area around the bar is terrible. When we were seated at the bar everything was great when we moved to a high top table to accommodate the number of people we had everything fell apart. The bartender said she would send over a server after waiting for at least 15 minutes someone from our group went to get menus which forced the server to finally bring us some. Shortly after she took our food order but not drinks. Going up to the bar to get drinks took way longer than it should as bartenders spent time talking to one another or making drinks but would not even acknowledge that they saw you there (poor training) or taking care of people at the bar but after 3 people from our group approached the bar 1 person finally got served. After about 30 minutes of waiting on 3 plates and 2 burgers the food finally came out a few things were missing but the waitress never came back and checked on us. Food was fine but 15 minutes into eating she brought us the bill. Won't sit anywhere other than at the bar again. Service needs better training or they need to have more people working on busier nights or both. read more

Had lunch reunion today with group of friends from Athena HS. It was so nice and they were so accommodating from reserving tap room, ordering food and just great customer service. I have gluten sensitivity and they were so great about my food, particularly an employee, "Star". She made sure food was prepared properly and also gave me coupon for free cheeseburger when food preparation took much longer. I will definately return to this location. read more

My first visit to this place as it was recommended by a local friend. Wanted a restaurant with a bar that would be open during a Sunday. Upon entering we were asked if we had a reservation, we didn't but were able to get a table regardless. ( good to know for future visits) They have everyone spaced out and some tables are taped off for safety. We place our drink order in immediately, bud light specials for the entire table... large glass. We asked for a few minutes to look over the order... the waitress gave us about 10. I went with a cheeseburger with extra onions, with a side of onion rings... food was really good. I was happy they had all the football games on multiple large TVs throughout the place. I have been going to bill grays since I was little with my family. Back when there were only a couple locations. Now there are many. Food quality is about the same but the cost of everything went way up. We won't visit without a coupon and now those are becoming harder to find. This location is fairly new. We opted to get great plates today because they were 8.99 on Tuesdays. Which isn't a bad a deal. The people in my house tend to order on the safe side so they had minimal toppings and they opted for fries and tater tots for the bottom. Which is a feature I love with Bill grays they have a bunch of options for their plates. The food came out fast, about 15 minutes from order to pick up. I am sure it's because we beat the dinner crowd but they tend to be quite speedy on the orders. The staff were super friendly and nice. When I questioned the pickles on the side they waited to make sure it was all there before they went back to their tasks. I am very pleased with the location and staff. There is dining inside with tables taped off for social distancing but I opted to get to go since family was at home. read more

Decided to eat here as I was hungry after walking the Charlotte Pier. It's a typical Bill Gray's cant go wrong with the food. Place was clean, service was attentive and friendly, food was hot & fresh, a little pricey, but not too bad for a burger & fries. Definitely will be back when I am up at the pier sight seeing or just going for a walk on the pier as it's reliable food and service. read more

My husband and brother-in-law were dying for a garbage plate. We hopped in the car to check out the new Bill Gray's Tap room. Upon walking in we were like.... this is just a Bill Gray's. Turns out you need to keep walking past all the registers and seat your self dining room and head down a corridor to the "tap room". It was nice that this section was more of a sports bar and not your typical family-friendly-order at the counter and eat type of establishment. Upon entry there was a live band playing. It wasn't packed, but certainly busy. Not sure if there is always an older crowd, or that specific band of the night pulled the older crowd in. Plenty of seats at the bar. The 3 of sit down. Bartender hands us menus and asks us what we want to drink. The guys wanted to peruse the large tap list so the bartender walked away. Within 2 minutes we were ready to order both drinks and food. After 15 minutes of waiting, the bartender still doesn't come back. We see her helping customers who are just walking up to the bar. We wait, and wait, and wait. Finally we say to each other, if she helps these 3 guys that just walked up to the counter with their dirty beer glasses..... we're leaving! Low an behold she walked right up to them. In unison all 3 of us stood up and walked out. I am thinking the Tap Room needs more bartenders on a Saturday night around 8/9pm. read more

Convenient location with a good amount of parking. Relatively clean, staff is very friendly! Good portion sizes on the Abbott's side of things, and a good price! Just came for ice cream and was surprised how great the portion size was compared to the last Abbott's location I went to. Always have a great time in the taproom here, the staff is great and the food is always great! Love the burgers and the tator tots hit the spot! Blown away by how many changes have happened here and how nice everything is! I attended a surprise birthday party on 4/09 in the back room and we had a great time. I want to start off by saying that our server was awesome and so helpful all night long. She really made our whole experience a lot more enjoyable. They have a great variety of beers for everyone and I opted for the UFO Raspberry. Super light and smooth with a hint of fruitiness, YUM. My sister and I split a garbage plate and mozzarella sticks, which came out very quickly. We were super impressed with the flavor of the mac salad, which had the perfect amount of mayo in it, home fries were nice and crispy, burgers were thin but not over cooked and the meat hot on the side (in my opinion) is the best! I love all the hints of spices with a kick of heat. We had a really nice time, the place is clean and there was a nice mixture of families and people hanging out throughout the bar area. Abbott's here is delicious and large portions. If you're planning on eating on the Bill Grays side, plan some extra time to get your meal as food service is slow. Kid friendly and outdoor seating available. On the other side is the tap room. The Tap Room itself is great. It's a fun place to watch sports games in the fall and meet up with large groups. Tap selection fairly good, although very heavy on the IPAs (not my favorite) As for food, best to stick with the burgers imo, the fish fry and clam chowder we ordered were not good at all. Bill Gray's is as solid as it gets. The food is pretty much the same everywhere, great burgers and other sandwiches and sides. Add in a bar room, and you have an actual experience. I also love the one by Sea Breeze, and am looking forward to the one in Chili (coming soon to my hood). I liked the food (4 stars), but it looked like I was over charged for the Great Plate which is a lower price on Tuesdays. Before leaving, I informed the cashier of the over charge. I was told that I was entitled to only one discount today. What? I received a senior discount, so the Great Plate was charged at the regular amount, nearly four dollars more than the discount cost. Who knew about this policy? Not me. I had no idea that I was receiving a senior discount that was going to cancel out the Tuesday Great Plate discount. If u go in the front entrance u will experience the standard Bill Grays, if much larger and newer... families ordering at the counter and sitting at the many tables spread throughout.. it was rather loud and chaotic as u might expect at a family burger joint with a local history for yummy food but ...venture down the hallway and ur in a large, new, gorgeous sports bar! Many large TVs with different sports events abound.. a very large, square bar with many taps (the beer list is IMPRESSIVE.. this is Bill Grays!) other than the beer it's fully stocked.. mixed drinks or wine as u wish. We decided to eat at the bar. The menu seems more expansive than I remember with additions to make everyone happy. I had a "plate" with a veggie burger and tater tots & Craig had a giant cheeseburger with everything and tots as well. The plate was surprisingly good with that veggie burger although I found the meat sauce too sweet and gelatinous for my taste. I've also had the black bean burger, dressed, on a wheat bun which had a slight southwest taste but was really good as well. Service is on paper plates and with plastic cutlery but they do have servers in the bar so no waiting for ur name to be called in the crazy lines out front. There is a large outside seating area in front for warmer weather. Good place for a casual meal and/or hanging out with a group watching sports. It's become a regular spot for us in our weekend dinner rotation. read more

The girl asked if we wanted food or ice cream...never a hello no smile nothing. She made our milkshakes brought them to the counter and put them down. We asked her name, she said "why" I said "because you're absolutely miserable" she said "it's not like I'm being rude to you" we asked 3 more times for her name until she finally gave it to us. I love Bill Grays (I grew up going to the original), but this one just made my blacklist. The place was practically empty, but I had to keep repeating my order over and over. When it came, I was shorted 4 dill pickle sides (I got 1 that was about half filled) so I asked the worker for more. She went to get some, then I noticed I was also missing an order of fries, so I asked for those and about that time was told they were out of pickles. I did get the fries, but had to split a half order of pickles between 5 people. Sloppy management at this one.
