Reading the reviews, I was pretty out off that we bought VIP tickets to go. BUT - I did the ghost tour last year before they converted it over to a haunted house. It was pretty awesome. I wasn't sure what to expect here but I was pleasantly surprised. First, buy the VIP ticket or you'll end up waiting forever in line. They must have gotten the hang of the timing because it was perfect for us. Plenty of scares and screams and they played up the theme of Eloise REALLY well. The actors stayed in character and it was pretty dang dark or lots of smoke so people coming around corners or out of doors. The basement was pretty awesome. We overall really enjoyed it and thought they did a great job! This isn't Erebus, but they did an awesome job with the place! read more

Tickets seem steep at $44.99 but boy oh boy do you get a lot of haunted house. Long, , elaborate, , flashy, , noisy, confusing, and imaginative walking dark house journey through a "hospital" and basement. Lots of amped up bloody & mutilated character actors to grab you and freak you out. Great fun. Reviewers have complained about wait times. I came at 7 PM on a Sunday night and there was only a 5 minute wait to enter. There are two separate sections to do so save your ticket stub for the basement after you complete the asylum. Important to mention that Eloise definitely gets a very hard R-rating on the body horror- not for children - at all. Also it's nice to hang around here both before and after with other free features,, photo ops, pretty good food trucks and a festive atmosphere amped up by costumed crazies stirring up trouble with the crowds. It's October in Michigan - make the most of it. You can't lose. read more

Listen!!!! I am a scary kat. But not really and when I tell you only because I know the history of this place was it scary. I was scared. So scared that I was sweating billets by the time we were done. I went with my partner and his 12 year old son and he led us! I screamed at everything. Lol ...... it was a main floor and then a basement for the VIP And it sure was frightening. The lighting is okay but I would have liked to been able to see just a little bit better. I used to ride by this place as a child and teenager and always had an irri feeling about it! And first & last time going into this place. They did a great job. Oh and the man outside this evening doing a show was WILD AS EVER! If you like spooky stuff go head and take that trip. The last day is over 30th. read more

I never thought I'd do a ghost hunting tour. I happened to be in town and one of my friends said we should do it. I was iffy on the idea but I'm so glad I did. I can't explain the emotions that surged through me there. I'll never forget. Honestly at first I thought part of it was a gimmick your flashlight is shorting out, it happens doesn't necessary mean a ghost is messing with it. I thought ehhhhh they are just trying to scare me. Then when our amazing tour guide Jenny was asking questions and it fully turned off and on I realized there really was something there. She also had a music box and cat ball. It took a lot for her to get the cat ball to go off herself. Nobody near it and it was going off in the hall as was the music box because the ball was in front of it. This experience was pretty awesome. I want to thank Jenny and lauren for being such an incredible tour guides they definitely made it a worthwhile experience with their knowledge and gear. If I'm back in town sometime I'd like to check out the escape room they have! read more

Went through the Asylum and the Basement. Here's my take. The opnions expressed herein are the sole opinions of the writer and have NO affliation with Eloise Asylum. The Asylum is pretty good, but scary-not a chance. The only two scares were the operating table from out of nowhere, and a double team from a couple of actors, near the TV room. Those two were about the only two that got me. For the love of God, slow down the groups. Felt rushed and having people getting scared in front of me made the scares nearly pointless, if not boring. The Basement is as far off as it can get. It's this weird, creepy, Alien meets Predators kind of vibe. It didn't make any sense at all, nor did it even fit with the theming of Eloise. Make matters worse there were two ladies in front of me who were petrified of every turn, which once again took away from the enjoyment of the Basement. One other big thing I'm gonna say is the fog. It's pretty bad when going through both the Asylum and Basement to TASTE that stuff. It's not very good and it was used way too much. Honestly the fog needs to be toned down a bit. read more

Honestly, worst haunt I've done and I'm a connoisseur. So overhyped it makes one wonder if all the positive reviews are paid for. No crowd control - just one long line of people meaning NO scares. Actors rubbed sticky substances in our hair, face, clothes, and shoes, even after we kindly asked them to stop (we signed a waiver prior to entering, which did NOT warn of this factor). Completely sucked the fun out of it. If you're a person who washes their hair, does their makeup, or wears decent clothing you WILL leave upset. Skip this one guys, so many great haunts in MI. Just don't. Save your money and go to Erebus in Pontiac. "Actors" are few and just walk about, hard to understand, not scary. Many plastic/ fake props that should have been done with real people and special effects. We waited in line for 3.5 hours for 30 minutes of "haunted house." Then another 15 mins of a line for the basement, which was better that the main floor. No guests screaming could be heard. Lame. Not scary. Some leg or arm touching - nothing scary. Too much fog; couldn't really see the "effects." Smelly B.O. "actor" in basement. Ew. Only two "cool" effects - the spinning tunnel and laser light with fog in the basement. And the sideshow entertainment in the line was old tricks, dirty guy, lame lame lame. The band, Blender, was probably the best part - cover band where all songs were recognizable. Alice Cooper was there for the opening , and if I were him - I'd be embarrassed that I tied my name to this place. This haunted house should have been about $10 -$15 MAX. This would have been scarier if they never put the "effects" and had someone give tours of the building with the dark history attached to it. read more

Tickets were 50 dollars so I had high expectations for this haunted house. When we get there the parking is not free and is an additional 5 dollars like excuse me? The line was long and moving very 15 minutes. And by the time it started it wasn't even scary. Not towards the beginning middle or end. I didn't lose hope for the basement but it was not original at all and just so ridiculous for the price. Also there were dinosaurs and stranger things themed things in this haunted house like ?? Stay on theme... I wasn't even startled at the very least. I've been to hush in Westland and actually was scared there. Everyone just seemed to walk through. Also, why leave the lights on in a haunted house ? Maybe try actually leaving the lights off and the actors need to get fired lol or just sell tickets for $10 bc it was a complete waste of my time and money. read more

They did a nice job with effects . There are 2 parts to the haunted house, and you definitely get your money's worth, it takes about 35 minutes to get through. FYI-It costs $10 to park and they do take cards. There are ample port-a-potties, food trucks available. The actors do touch you-if you don't want them to touch you, you have to purchase a glow stick necklace at their merchandise counter. Overall, it was a fun experience. read more

All the amazing talk I heard about this place really had me thinking it would be better. Dissatisfying scares because you don't see them firsthand. If they actually spaced groups out better upon entry so you weren't getting the screams of the people in front of you as your "scares," I'd love this place. They allow like 15 people to go at once and if you're not in the front of the group, you're not getting any of the actual scares. Our group tried to slow down to let the people ahead of us have some distance, but then we'd just clog up more people behind us. Too many people being crammed into it so they can maximize profits. I'd gladly pay 60 or even 80$ for the same thing if I was guaranteed to not be grouped with a bunch of others. We originally entered 2 at a time hoping to space it out so we could all be scared separately. The two in front of us were let in, then so were my fiancé and I, and 10 other people at the same time. So we still ended up grouped together anyway, and half of us just walked through unfazed by the scares we saw up ahead but never actually got ourselves. The both the asylum and the basement are cool. I like the animatronics. The one at the end actually scared my dad (cause the lights flicker and they were off and then when they came back both arms were around him) which was pretty funny. The actors do a nice job. There's one morgue/body storage area that genuinely smells like shit/rotting bodies and I think that aspect was pretty cool. Smell was a little strong though and some around us starting gagging lol. I still thought about doing the Saturday tour some time because I want to hear more about it. But from another review I read it's not very good and you don't get to see much of the original documentation or the original furnishings. Why would I want to walk through floors of things that aren't actually real parts of the place. The whole point of a tour is to get the real, old-psych hospital feel. read more

Being able to go inside and explore Eloise was REALLY cool! However, at the beginning of the tour there was about an hour long presentation in one of the rooms and everyone in our party had such a hard time hearing the speaker. His voice was very monotone and echoing in the room. There was a woman there who said a few things and I think if she gave the presentation it would have been a million times better! She had a very crisp loud voice and was excited about the info she was giving. All of the floors on the tour looked the same and there was not a whole lot to see, I wish they would have had some of the original furniture or paperwork or SOMETHING. When you were touring, if you stayed close to the workers you might get little bits of info but if you were walking slowly or in the back of the group or went a different direction, you didn't get any of that extra information. Like I said, it was really cool to be able to go inside the building but I think $10 would be the max I would pay for this, it certainly was not worth $45. read more

I highly recommend this!! It scared and entertained both an easily scared person and a more brave one. I am surprised by the low reviews and I think people have too high of expectations. I would prefer not to be a crying ball in the corner, so it needs to cater to a variety of tastes. My spouse and I went on Sunday with 6:00pm arrival time tickets. I got a standard ticket and thought that parking was included, but that was only for VIP (they take cash or charge). We were running late, but they don't really check your time (they asked somewhere along the way but it don't seem to affect anything) - and by the time you park, walk, go through security, get your physical tickets and restroom/snack there really would be no way to predict how long that will take - so arriving on site at the scheduled time seems sufficient. No bags allowed so I wore a coat with pockets to hold the essentials. By the time we were ready to get in line for the houses it was 6:30 and hardly any line. I would say skip the VIP and just go at an off time. We were in before it got dark, so by 7:00pm, but it was pitch black inside. There were creepy actors walking around scaring people who weren't paying attention. I was surprised to hear when we were in line that the actors were allowed to touch you. It is not aggressive, just unnerving - I had a doll follow me down a corridor playing with my hair, the person behind me said someone stuck a finger in her ear, and my wife got a tap on the shoulder she couldn't place and it freaked her out. The houses themselves were about four times longer than any I have been in (at least 30 minutes between the two houses) making it a great deal. Once you go through the one you are pretty much shuffled right to the next and go in the same group of 10 for both houses. They are either on separate floors of the same building or two separate buildings, I couldn't tell which. I thought we would just be walking through halls of the building, as it is creepy enough on its own, but they had intricate rooms and mazes set up. Lots of jump scares and special effects with awesome displays. The scariest part was walking around corners and not knowing what was a prop or a real person and they tricked us often. They were also some moving sets and pmlaces where you had to walk uncomfortably close to get around an actor and of course they moved in erratic unpredictable ways, each one unique. All told it was a lot of fun. The workers were great and told their haunted experience stories while we waited in line. They also had carnival style food stands in the waiting area, which was a nice treat when we got done (or if there was a long entry line). They had clean outhouses and cute reasonably priced merchandise. All told, it was a great experience. read more

Eh, wouldn't go back. The hype surrounding this place was just unfounded. The actors try their best, but the experience felt rushed and not really scary. They will send multiple people at once to go in, but then you're bumping into people during the attraction. For the price they charged, it should have been much scarier. read more

This was so much fun. I was screaming and laughing most of the time. The quality of the props and rooms were extremely impressive. There were jump scares from employees walking around and laying low. It was really great and we were in there for what seemed like an hour. I wanted to go back for a second round as soon as it finished. Would highly recommend this experience! We went to Eloise tonight with high hopes it was 65 a piece for VIP tickets and we are glad we paid, the wait otherwise was easily about 2 hours for both attractions. The asylum was okay, not to scary, not that big, not a lot going on in general. We walked though a lot of nothing, though the few actors we saw were good. We walked though in groups of 10-15 and caught the group in front of us, so we walked slower and waited for a bit in a room to give them some space. We also walked through the same rooms more then once with not wall between it, you could see the people on the other side. It was fast maybe a 10 min walk with pretty much no real jump scares or animatronics in it. The basement was the other walk though there, it was much better and had a lot more detail to it. You walked through more elaborate alien themed rooms. They had some pretty cool details and a few walk though bridges that were pretty neat. They also had a pretty cool electricity room that was 10/10 to me it was neat to watch. We walked through this one in about 10-15 mins too. The wait times on the both houses with VIP were about 10 mins each or less. We walked through in groups of 10-15 people both times and both times we caught the people in front of us. I think this haunt needs more years to get it right and get the timing and add things to the house. It was fun, maybe worth like 25 bucks, not the 65 we each paid. Overall there was not much going on inside and a lot of blank spaces, i hope with more years in time they will get better....it has potential but its not quite there yet. read more

This is a review of their ESCAPE ROOM. We came here as a group of 6 and were really impressed by the escape room!! I highly recommend it. You can be up to a group of ten for a private session or you can do just your number and be placed with strangers, depends on what style is your jam; we prefer to be just known group members. **We are a trio of 3 ex-haunters with a combined experience of 40 years of haunting. This is something fun for us to do, share our experiences and showcase some awesome haunts!** Eloise Asylum is located right outside of Detroit, Michigan. For us it was a 9 hour drive but was worth every second of the drive. The building was known to be one of the largest hospital complexes in the country. Walking onto the property you're greeted by super kind staff who direct you to a large parking area next to the asylum. After your parked and tickets are picked up it's time to start your walkthru. There are two attractions for you to experience, Eloise Asylum and Sub Floor 1 "Nankin Project". Millions of dollars were put into turning Eloise into the monster it is and it shows. The sets were absolutely jaw dropping and the effects were stunning. Eloise has incorporated 3D projection mapping into their attractions and it one of the coolest things we've seen yet. I spoke with the operations manager Jim and he told us "Eloise Asylum is truly a departure from the standard haunted house formula. From our operational standards to our set design we  believe that we have raised the bar for our entire industry.". Naturally this made us even more excited to get inside and see everything. First up was the Asylum and let me tell you, we were not disappointed in even the slightest. The walkthrough itself took us about 25 minutes and gives you a LOT to look at. The sheer amount of detail that each actor put into their rooms was very noticeable. Everywhere you went you were greeted by insane patients and bloodied doctors trying to "help you". As your wandering the halls you may or may not be stalked by the intimidating nurse Poppy. She'll hunt you down and make sure that you take your meds whether you like it or not. The asylum is a never ending maze with so many twists and turns it'll keep you guessing at every corner. After being terrified and bamboozled by the staff in the asylum, we headed down to Sub Level 1. This attraction is also known as the Nankin Project and it is nothing short of unsettling. Every room you walk through is a different experiment leaving you guessing "How much more can they do?". Monsters, doctors and patients are following you through each room telling you that you're next. The deeper you go the crazier it gets, from being in complete blackout to the sewers where monster/human hybrids are trying to grab you with their mutated claws. For the finale you approach what feels like an monster breeding ground. You're completely surrounded and if you're not careful on your way out... the queen may just grab you and not let go. Coming out of the attractions you're given plenty of options for food and drinks. There's a large food truck, 2 small stands and they even had a dessert truck there. You can have fully loaded nachos to pork BBQ and finish it off with some "Superman ice cream" (which we found out was a Michigan staple, according to the locals). Overall we give Eloise all the praise we possibly can. We have worked with the best in the industry and eloise with no uncertainty holds it's own as a top haunt and a must visit experience. They have top tier technology, jaw dropping sets, actors with insane passion, a super helpful event staff and an amazing management team running everything smoothly! This haunt was nothing short of amazing, truly this has been our favorite haunt on our small tour. As I mentioned before, the sets are amazing and the atmosphere as well but the actors really bring this place to life. We cannot wait to come back out next year to see the show again and to see if they've added more to this already great show. read more

Both times I've visited this attraction, the timing of the groups was too fast. On top of them sending too large of groups through. A group of 5 would turn into a train of 20, ruining the thrill of the haunt. Could have been much better if spaced out correctly. read more

The tour was going okay in the beginning. It was fine until our tour guide mentioned "water centipedes"! The moment I stepped off the last step to the basemen, there it was! I spotted it with my flashligh, and everyone else in my group saw it too. They already knew, if I saw a centipede, I was getting out of there. So I immediately ran up the stairs and outside. I was patiently sitting on the porch while the rest of my group finished, when two staff members asked if I was "going to the 5th floor". I said I'd already been. I then told them about the basement and the centipede. The lady looked at me and said "nope, no centipedes here" Then the guy said "I ain't never seen none". They were both terrible actors and I could tell that they knew exactly what I was talking about. I understand that this information getting out is probably bad for business, but why treat a paying customer with such disrespect! DON'T GO IN THE BASEMENT!!! read more

Went with the wife and we've been to a bunch of scary attractions. For starters: 2/10 Scary 3/10 Length 9/10 Decoration 10/10 VIP Line wait time We got in right away on a packed night and saw both the house and basement attractions. House is only 1 floor, about a 10 minute walkthrough and unfortunately the actors did not have time to reset. Didn't really get the "creepy mental asylum" feel. Basement was much better in terms of creepy things you expect but still very short and rushed. We were back to our car within an hour or so with a 10 minute walk to the venue. Maybe if you are easily scared this would be more fun, but with the amount of space they have they simply haven't finished in my opinion. It's about building suspense not just rushing each room. read more

Let's start with entry into the venue. Instead of allowing the crowd to walk across the pavement, they had people walking through mud to get to an area that wasn't really crowded or patrolled. Once inside, it was a very underwhelming experience for the price. The timing between groups is horrible; I felt rushed and cheated out of my "scares." Brought a group of teens here today to the escape room, and we had a fantastic time! We arrived a little early for our designated start time and the place was locked up tight due to unforeseen circumstances with staff. I called the number on the website and they were very helpful, called me right back and sent replacement staff within just a few minutes. Loved every minute of our escape attempt and the high quality rooms. We'll definitely be back for another round! read more
