Lots of communicating through rooms needed at some points to speed up the process. Theres key locks, number locks, a fun book with a story. A couple jump scares occur too, which was super fun, especially cause I love scary stuff. There's one point with a hockey puck that had us laughing while we struggled. We were able to collect the eggs and successfully leave the room! The mechanical door at the end was super cool. Definitely recommend this room. read more

Loved the moving window "view" of the Vegas Strip and the comedic undertones that went into the game. This is definitely a harder room so working together and asking for many hints is a must! My family and I did the Candy Factory game at Escape Room Novi last week. The check-in process was simple and we had a lot of fun with the game in the lobby while we were waiting for our room to be ready. Our game host was very helpful throughout the experience. The game itself was challenging but fun. There were a lot of unique and inventive clues and games throughout the experience, including one that involved smells. Thanks to a few hints, we finished just in time and found a candy surprise when we finished. My 9-year-old nephew enjoyed it a lot and there were definitely things for kids to do but I would definitely recommend a mixed group of adults and kids. This is only the second escape room I've done but I was very impressed with the creativity that went into it. I think it was a memorable experience for all and would consider going back sometime, especially if I could take advantage of one of their weekday discounts. read more

Went here for a birthday event. There's no other rooms until 9pm tonight. We had and hour and 20 minutes to kill still. They have hour and half hour rooms. We had the hour room. We did a session in the illusionist room. We had to wait outside and call to have someone let us in. Everyone in the party has to be present to come inside. They make everyone use sanitizer and take everyones temperature. Xavier is our guide tonight. It's a multi room event. TV shows time left and for clues. White call box by the door is for any questions with Xavier. Video explains mission. We were able to break the Lucy box lock pretty quickly by guessing the numbers by feel. It's all about playing around the walls, tables or whatever until a door opens something for additional clues. We ran around all over the first room looking for clues. We were able to get into the second room after some 15-20 minutes or so. Took us the rest of the time to find all of the clues to unlock the rest of the boxes in the first room as well as the second room to unlock the second room to get out. The room is a moderate level. We were told we could have gone to the next level since we finished it rather quickly and didn't need any clues at all. Helped to think outside of the box. It was a decent 37+ minute session. read more

Did the magician escape room with my family for a fun activity near me. Was such a fun and challenging event for us. We had four people, and we escaped the room with 10 minutes left out of one hour. If you haven't done an escape room, I highly recommend this place. They have a person there to help if you are stuck, a clock showing the time, and a story line to help with the clues. read more

Cabin in the woods kicked our hineys.... This maze is most definitely designed for the more mature escape room connoisseurs. My husband and I had only completed 3 rooms prior and decided to dabble with this dark cabin in the woods maze with some first timers. NOT A GOOD IDEA!!! You can only have 2 flashlights and 3 clues... so we were doomed from the start. However, we still had a massive amount of fun. Our game master did the best he could within the limits of the game and at least helped us not feel like complete failures. We would wholeheartedly go back, but we'd earn our way back into that room. read more

I have been here four times now and have had a great time! I can't wait to come back and play another room. The first escape room was the Great Railroad Robbery. Unfortunately we did not solve the puzzle in time but it was not too surprising as out of the six of us, four never did an escape room and the other two only did one previously. We still had fun but several of us were like a deer in the headlights for the first 20 minutes. The second room I did was Speakeasy. There were 8 of us and I wish we had just had six players as we kinda got in our own way. But it was a fun room and we really enjoyed ourselves. The third room was Neverland. By far, this was my fav room! Puzzles challenged us and three rooms in this puzzle was mind blowing! Fourth room was Illusionist. NOTE this room is very dimly lit (yeah they all are but this was by far was the most dim). I hated the first 25 minutes of this game as I had to use my phone flashlight to see things. There are quite a few number locks and it was a struggle to turn the duals on lock and hold my phone. I am 54 so maybe somebody younger may have an easier time. Thankfully this was my fourth room there as if it had been my first, I doubt I would have been back. read more

My group and I (I called us Cowabunga) did the Neverland room. The game master, Jules, was wonderful. She (or they) was absolutely wonderful as the rules was explained perfectly. Jules explained what was off limits, what clues were usable, and what basically we would waste our time attempting to do. The room was the "Third Hardest" that they have here. We finished with 15 minutes (and something seconds)! I truly think that if the room wasn't clarified of what was possible and not, we would have struggled a lot more. It's true when they say that the Game Master is part of the group. Jules was truly the best game master I've ever had and I have had a lot of experience with rooms (even when to the Escape Bureau in Florida). Thank you Jules for the experience!! read more

I came with a group of friends for my birthday. The staff were friendly and welcoming. I was bummed because the people forgot to reset a couple of the clues which threw us off and we were out of order. We ended up losing which sucked. The price is about $25/person but since my experience was ruined by that mishap, I felt it was too pricey. read more

I tried to book a room for 3 players for the next day and was refused because they want bigger parties only. I was told I would have to wait until 1 hour before the time I and would be allowed to book if room wasn't reserved. So am I suppose to plan my day on a maybe? Or was I suppose to coordinate my siblings only to tell them we can't go at the last minute? read more

Updated review: after our first experience didn't go too well due to the room being broken the management offered to let us come back and try a different room. Our second visit was the Asylum. This room ways significantly harder than the previous room we tried and even with the clues we did not escape. However, we had fun and experienced no technical difficulties this time so it was worth the second trip. I would definitely not recommend starting with such a difficult room if it's your first time. read more

This was the second escape room we have done here. Excellent quality escape rooms, and the difficulty level is very high. We did both the speak easy and Dracula. We have not successfully completed a room at this location yet. However we have beat all other escape rooms we have tried at other locations. So it is definitely a challenge. Groups of 4-6 seem to be perfect. The more people there are the more chaotic it can get. The only downside is we often have solved/found clues and if we didn't do things in the exact perfect way or apply the right amount of pressure it won't trigger the solution. This often causes a lot of frustration and kills a lot of time. Also the front lobby is very small and doesn't hold a lot of people who are waiting. Other than that I would highly recommend novi escape rooms. read more

It was nice to be able to walk in for a visit. Saw an advertisement online about their "School of Magic". Staff was nice. Price is by the person which is nice for smaller groups. I am not going hand out spoilers. First rule of most escape rooms is that clues are like keys in Resident Evil, disposable after one use. That rule is broken more than just one time here. After that the number of red herrings was just atrocious. Especially when you have to make logical jumps that have no reason or hints to go with them. I nearly ripped a portraiture off the wall due lack for solid clues and it being vaguely hinted at as a clue. We completed the room with a few minutes to spare as we needed to use a couple hints just to help bridge the gaps. Oh and the spring loaded "reveals" did not always work so we struggled to solve things already solved due to the lack of feed back. Ending was anti climatic and the discovery of clues were bumbling rather than rewarding. So my suggestiona to anyone going, do not show up too earlier because the loading room and the exit room are the same and the staff do not dissuade previous players from talking about the room when leaving, and give a good 10lbs tug on all doors multiple times as progressing as they might be open but did not "spring" open. read more

We did the Neverland escape room with our family. It was clean and a lot of fun. Our host was fabulous and kept an eye on us and helped when needed. She even took our picture after. We went to Zap Zone in Farmington yesterday (filthy, not well maintained and terrible staff!) I would highly recommend choosing Escape Room Novi. read more

A groups of six of us attended here on Saturday night, and we all left highly disappointed. I did not complain while we were there, because the whole place was staffed by young teenagers. I did not have a problem with them, but felt like they didn't deserve to listen to complaints they have no control over. The owner of this place needs to do some serious maintenance. You can't solve clues when props are broken, worn out, or in bad repair. One of the main issues we had was a door that was supposed to automatically open after we solved the clue. For over 20 minutes of our time, the door remained stuck closed, occasionally shaking or making a buzzing noise. I did bring this to the workers attention, only to be told "it's a haunted asylum, the ghosts are messing with you." No, your shit's broken and wasted most of our time in the room. After spending 150 dollars, our entire group left disappointed. We will not be back. There are many other escape room options out there. Choose one of those. read more

Had a great time! We had a group on 9 and only one of us had done an escape room before. It was not easy. At one time I was a. It frustrated, but then someone yelled "got it"! We did the Illusionist room. It was AMAZING! The people were verse nice and helpful too. We did get out safe and sound too! I would say that if you book the room for 8 people, you can then add more. You still have to pay for each person but it is not written anywhere that you can have more then 8 players, so I wish I knew that. I can't wait to go back! It was great! read more

I've done a few other escape rooms, this one was by far the least impressive. We did the mafia bistro theme (rated hard) and solved it, but we just aren't all that impressed by it. To start, the decor for the room was incredibly spartan compared to others I've done. Next, a number of the clues were either super obvious or not well thought out. The guy that ran the room for us warned us that if we didn't know obscure 70s disco hits, for instance, we could use our phones for that. Here's a hint: Think of another way to convey the clue that your intended audience can figure out without their phones. Lastly, the way it's run is a bit lackluster. When we got into one area, one of the puzzles hadn't been reset, so we got the benefit of having opened something we shouldn't have early. When that threw us off the mark and we asked for a hint, the staff didn't realize that either and gave us irrelevant clues. It was fun, but it could have been a lot better. A definite needs improvement. read more

We did the hardest escape room The Circus as a party of 9. First off, the lobby was crowded with several groups trying to check in for their rooms. It was pretty chaotic as there was limited space and you couldn't tell who was in line to check in or if the people inside already checked in and were just waiting for their party to arrive. They need to have a bigger lobby or organize the timing of rooms better so everyone isn't showing up at the same time. The room itself was very hard. Our group completed several difficult escape rooms in the past, and each room had a sort of rhythm to it where the clues would lead you to the next clue etc. This room was very haphazard and you really had to stretch the logic to figure out what the clue was and I mean really stretch it. Some of the items in the room were missing, so you couldn't figure out the clue without the missing pieces. The items that needed to be used to figure out a clue was running out of batteries. A box that was supposed to open after doing what we were supposed to do didn't open and had to be opened by an employee. And, the person who was providing clues was too busy handling another room as well. Also, we asked if there was a way to reset a device so that we could re-enter a code and we were only told "it sounds different" which didn't make any sense at all - that alone wasted 15 minutes of time. Because we've been to several escape rooms in Michigan, I can honestly say this establishment left us extremely disappointed. They should ensure that everything is working fine and that all of the clues are there to solve the room. We won't be back. read more

This review is based on the jungle room, which we were told was recently remodeled and still having the finishing touches put on it when we did it. It was the only room left available on a Saturday night when we made our reservations. The room is set up with a big game board in the middle, and the back story is sort of Journey to the Center of the Earth meets Jumanji. The concept alone is pretty good, but I really felt the decorations in the room did not do the theme justice. It looked and felt like I was in a room in a mall -- which, obvious, I was -- but I feel they could do more to "transport" you into the game. The music also didn't help. Instead of playing jungle-typse sounds, they played the soundtracks to Tarzan and The Lion King. Both of which are great, sure, but it's hard to get in the mindset of being trapped inside a game board in a jungle when you just can't wait to be king. Overall the puzzles were fun, with some overly simple to the point of us wasting a clue on one because it was so simple it was stupid, but others were reasonably complicated and challenging. I know rooms have different limits for the number of people at a time, but with 7 people in the jungle room (limit of 8) it felt a little cramped and like some people had to just stand around or hover because there wasn't enough to keep everyone occupied at once. Overall I like the idea of escape rooms and am excited to try a different one! read more

They are taking advantage of their prime Novi location here! I came as part of a group of 6 the last weekend in July and it was a rough start from the time we walked in. The employee at the front desk was doing tarot cards and seemed annoyed we interrupted her hard work. While we were waiting for the last two in our party to arrive it was noticeably hot in there, four of us kept complaining about how hot it was but figured it was a hot summer afternoon, there were no blinds or curtains or anything covering the windows so we chalked it up to the sun beating in through the front windows. It wasn't until we escaped did the worker who greeted us on our exit that said "oh yeah the air conditioning is out on this half of the building." That should have been something we were told before we started. The room we did was Tony's bistro and it just didn't have a good flow. Some of the clues didn't really make sense. We kept asking for hints at basically every point because it was so hot in there we just wanted to be done with it so we were blowing through hints. When we would ask for a clue the clue the worker would give us would be for a step we did at least two steps ago. Usually when you finish there are fun props or signs for a photo op, there's none of that here. We had to ask if someone would take our picture. This was the first escape room for two people in our party and it was not a great first experience. This has been my sixth escape room and definitely the worst one. They will survive based on their location I'm sure but I wouldn't waste my money here again. read more

This was the first time I've done the escape room thing and I was pleasantly surprised how fun it was. We came for a team building event and booked their Tony's Bistro room. It's their largest capacity and the second most difficult room to navigate. We definitely needed the clues they offer and you'll use all or most of your time on this room. Needless to say we fell short on escaping but it was a good time. I have no idea what the cost was but it was fun. Coming soon a Harry Potter type themed room, FYI. read more

An absolute fun experience! Cabin in the woods is no joke- definitely for experts. My friends and I only made it about 50% of the way through but still had a good time. The guide did explain where we went wrong which was helpful! We also did the elevator (new and would highly recommend ), the hot seat, and the bunker. All of these three are perfect for when you want the challenge of an escape room but want something that doesn't take an hour. I will definitely be returning with more friends! read more

We had a group of 4 (plus 2 strangers) and we chose the asylum room (difficulty : insanely hard). We were one clue away from getting out which was disappointing to our egoes but we still had a great time. If you are a critically thinking adult this may not be insanely hard. I would NOT do this with more than 6 people. Even with 6 it seemed like too many chef's in the kitchen trying to solve the puzzles at once. The things i didn't love (which held me back from giving this a 5) was that there were technical difficulties with the clues/story line screen a few times (the internet stopped working) so we had no idea when they started the timer so we were kind of sitting in there for like 6 minutes at first and didn't realize the frozen screen wasnt part of the show. durrr Also, there were a few "surprise" clues that literally drop from the ceiling and hit my friend in the head (she has bad luck) a few times. Not soft clues either! Anyway, would do this again but just wish they would have given us some extra time since our internet wasn't working so i feel like we lost some precious minutes (esp for the cost you pay). would be GREAT for a double date night. Wish they had options for just 2 people so you dont have to share a room (for a date night). read more

First off, we were in the hardest room with a group 9 people... And YES it was hard especially with the hints provided. Not that we aren't smart. We had a good group together but we wasted the first 20min on a simple clue and after that we were close but ended up wasting all 3 of our clues on simple tasks so you gotta get them EXACTLY right or you'll be stuck. Also the crew coulda been dressed up for the theme. That woulda gone a LONG way, kinda felt off when they just opened the door to the room we were trying to "escape" and they basically just showed the clue. Was kinda expecting to put my self into the shoes of the scene they were setting but just couldn't. So Thats prolly number one critiques but my suggestion is start on the easy room and move your way up next time read more
