So yes, while in Spain we had pizza. Those with children (or child in our case) will totally…read moreunderstand. San Marino is a lovely restaurant located right along the Carretera de Torroella (the main road through the town). Its in a mixed use block with shops on the bottom and apartments on the top. It was in agreeable walking distance from our Hillside Villa and while I'm playing it off on my son but we also liked the place enough to go back several times. The pizza was spot on. Thin crust and in a Neapolitan Style it was filling without being too heavy. Margarita: This is usually our opening move at a new pizza place. The reason is simple. Its a simple pizza. Because fo the limited ingredients and clean flavors, it is difficult to hide substandard ingredients. The crust was good. Thin and crunchy with a soft interior. The sauce was good but for our taste it could be punched up a bit, and the cheese was gooey heaven. E'Estaritit: We left off the tuna and were really happy with this one as well. The gambas were plump and juicy and the local anchovies added that salty unami flavor only anchovies can. The crust and sauce were as before. The scattered oregano added a nice herbaceous taste that balanced the fish. Salad with bacon: the greens were super fresh, and the dressing was okay. Kind of an odd ranch. I would have preferred a vinaigrette as the greens needed minimal help. The bacon looked like it had been thrown into the pizza oven so it has a nice crispness to it. The service is super friendly and the menu is in Spanish, English, and Catlan. They do have a reasonable wine list (I stuck with beer) and spending a cool July evening eating al fresco on the sidewalk was awesome.

Among the four of us, we ordered the prawn appetizer, bread, sangria, lamb, grilled sea bass, Beef Tenderloin Rossini, and flank steak. Every dish was absolutely delicious and beautifully prepared. The service was excellent--attentive, friendly, and professional without being intrusive. The view was incredible and made an already wonderful dining experience even more memorable. We will definitely be coming back. I made a reservation in advance, and I'm glad I did because the restaurant was completely packed. It's obviously very popular, so be sure to call ahead and reserve a table. Highly recommended.

Delightful staff. It appears that the owner takes all the Orders from the tables. He is truly from Naples and makes some delicious dishes. We started out with a mixed salad that had incredibly fresh ingredients. I had the salmon timbal which was awesome. Or main course we shared a sausage and mushroom pizza that was made in the style of Naples. Prefect! All of that coupled with some wine and a delightful digestivo at the end made for a wonderful meal Many thanks to the wonderful staff and would highly recommend this restaurant if you're in Tossa di Mar.

They also have authentic regional dishes like xuixos and patatas bravas. There are plenty of vegetarian options and they're easily labeled. Location is convenient and wifi is free. However, the true standout was the pizza. The thick foccacia like bread was amazing, and the chorizo and mushroom topping was a perfect complement to the crust! I wasn't wild about the patatas bravas with the "mexi-pork." This place did not have a huge drink selection, in terms of wines, but they did have a very nice house white wine that we enjoyed. Though it was closed by the time we arrived, the restaurant also has a little take out window that serves pasta. Service: Friendly, attentive, and extremely helpful. The waiter knew we had been waiting for a while to eat, so he gave us menus 15 minutes before the kitchen re-opened and allowed us to place our orders so they would arrive promptly. Atmosphere: Tucked in a little square in the lovely old streets of Girona, this place is a gem! We very much enjoyed sitting outside and observing people walking past in the fading sunlight. It's not fancy by any means, but it's perfect for casual, outdoor dining. We hope The Unicorner will be there the next time we're in Girona!
