I remember past sessions in the picture people and jcpenny studios, and highly regarded photographers my siblings have used for their weddings - but I'll be honest, none of those times was as comfortable and relaxed and fun as when Chantel Hunt shot portraits for our family. I think that is the key to a successful photo shoot - for everybody in the pictures to have fun and be relaxed. Chantel did not rush us or have us even mindful of the time - We had no clue of the time lol. Many shots were taken - many poses and variations of who was in the shot. We shot at 2 different locations: in the open field where the mustard flowers were blooming and in the almond orchard. Beautiful. Chantel was able to take the most beautiful photos in both locations and in all of the different situations. After the session we were super happy, unlike our relieved and overwhelmed feeling when we had pictures done in the past lol. It was such a chore before, but because of Chantels personality and care and relaxed vibe, mixed with her knowing exactly what to do for the different poses and situations, it was a breeze for us - an absolute breeze. Chantel is a true professional, disguised as the sweet person you know and love, that is easy to talk to and is easy to be around. He's done senior portraits and most recently he did my wedding. Avalon is truly the best in the business. He always delivers stunning photos in a reasonable amount of time. But I have to say the "Crown Jewel" of Avalon is their reliability. Steve was LITERALLY hit by a car on the morning of our wedding.....and he STILL CAME TO PHOTOGRAPH IT! Steve at Avalon struck me as extremely knowledgeable, as he was able to answer my barrage of technical questions with ease and confidence. It was clear that he has been doing photography for a very long time and really knows what he's doing. At some point, I had a phone conversation with another wedding vendor in Chico that made me call and book Avalon immediately after I hung up. This wedding vendor asked which photographers I was considering, and when I listed Avalon, she said that she had gotten married herself just the year before, and hired Avalon to do her wedding. As a wedding vendor in the area, she is familiar with many of the local photographers, and said that Steve is the best. So I called him right away to book him. I am VERY happy I did so! Steve at Avalon did my engagement shoot and wedding photos. For the services he offers, he is very affordable. The other photographer, Alicia, who helped shoot the wedding, also did an amazing job. They are both extremely kind people, and very professional. They had lots of tricks to get people to smile and laugh genuinely, and captured so many sweet and funny candid moments. Also, I can't say enough about the lighting--the lighting in the photos was incredible! They knew exactly where to position everyone down to the inch in order to work the setting to the best advantage. I have gotten so many comments from guests saying, "Wow--your photographer was so good!" or "They really knew what they were doing!" Thankfully Brey was available and extremely helpful and assisted me through the whole booking process, it felt like I was working with a dear friend the whole time. I've never booked a professional photographer for an event before so I was bit nervous about the whole thing but she made me feel so comfortable and taken care of in the weeks prior and on the day. She arrived to the city hall location early and was ready to take photos right away, she caught great images of our small group of guests arriving, small moments here and there and wonderful portrait shots of both me, my husband and the whole group together at the ceremony, later at a local park and then at our small reception dinner.
