Beginning from the Design portion of the process, Sean and his team were timely and communicative. They nailed exactly what we wanted for our kitchen reno (color! functionality!) with minimal revisions. They introduced us to a contractor we knew we could trust, who ultimately did a great job. The biggest bang for our buck was the Project Management portion of the project. Kameron and Nancy took care of every detail--ordering appliances, making sure they had arrived on time, and coordinating with all of the different tradespeople. The project was completed on schedule and the kitchen is gorgeous. What's better--the renovation process was not a headache at all. I'm planning a kitchen renovation and that is the only piece I was planning to reuse. I tried to concoct a poultice of my own to remove the stain, but I called Tri-State after reading other positive reviews because I wasn't confident in what I did. Dan answered the phone immediately (yes, a human actually picked up!). He spoke to me at length about my issue and examined photos while on the phone with me. He reassured me that I was on the right track with the potion I used. Dan patiently walked me through recommended next steps. He even said he'd be happy to consult with me if needed, and if I still failed to see improvement after waiting a week for the stone to dry out, then he'd come out. But, he urged me to stick with what I started because based on what he saw, the treatment is working!! I walked away from that call feeling empowered and totally reassured that if I can't fix the issue, it's fixable. Dan stayed on the phone to answer other questions, including finding me a referral to another contractor who could do other work in my kitchen. What luck it was that I stumbled across those reviews and called when I did. I had to write this lengthy review because it's so rare to find a contractor who is honest, patient, and empathetic (not to mention someone who would be willing to take time out of his day to help a stranger). At some point the conflict between design and selling cabinets comes up. There are things in the design of our kitchen that are difficult to explain without the justification of selling another cabinet. We also had problems with measurements that were wrong. The cabinets were changed but this caused several weeks of delays. We also had a terrible experience with the contractor that they recommended, who wasted our time and money. He was working at a very slow pace and never brought qualified workers. They were a couple of teachers doin spare change during summer, an art school student, and a tile installer out of his depth. They were all nice people, by the way. But no the kind of workers you expect a contractor to bring to your house. We ended up with dozens of floor tiles with chipped borders and bathroom tiles that are crooked. The bathroom toilet moves to this day, they chipped the finish in the bathroom faucet, the laundry faucet is not well installed, some light switches were never installed.I also spent several weekends doing his work to try and speed up the work. I did painting and grouting. I helped to install the front door, the oven, and the fridge. I installed locks and handles. I cleaned every night and I disposed of trash. I can keep going but you get the picture. To be fair, the contractor does not work for Performance Kitchens. But he was recommended by Performance Kitchens

I found alternatives and in the end paid $2,600 + material to replace approximately 90sqft of flooring. To me Artisan implies superior workmanship and they may have done a phenomenal job but it could have cost almost as much as the entire floor.

We were very pleased with the work he and his colleagues did, have asked him to do other work on our house, and recommend him strongly. Johnanthony brings to his work excellent building skills, great intelligence and creativity, perseverance, honesty, kindness, and friendliness--and a fine sense of humor, an important asset in dealing with the frustrations of renovation work. And there were a lot of frustrations on our jobs. Our house was not well designed, and many shortcuts were taken in its construction. Being a kitchen-and-bath-renovation general contractor is a very difficult profession, as you're constantly fitting new wiring, plumbing, appliances, and other work--all the fundamental systems that make a house work--into an existing structure, rather than being able to "start fresh". In our case, the difficulty was increased by the "inherited" problems in our house. And we had problems with delays and incorrect shipments from suppliers, and we caused some problems by changing our minds about some things. Throughout all of this, Johnanthony worked hard and thoughtfully to solve problems, to figure out new ways of doing things as the structure of the house required initial plans to be modified. When problems came up, he worked with us to solve them. When we had warranty issues--bad finish jobs on a couple of our cabinet doors--he made sure that the vendor replaced them, and installed the new ones at no cost to us. Johnanthony was very consultative with us and made it clear that our happiness with our new rooms was his highest priority. We felt that Johnanthony's pricing was fair, and he was very clear about his billing process. We felt that he was completely honest.
