It's conveniently located just a block off Broad St. in Southside, just down from Southside Social and the Jump Park. The interior is gorgeous exposed brick and wood beam ceiling with tons of natural light. The Life Fitness and Hammer Strength equipment is brand new and state of the art. They have group exercise classes like Step, POUND, Circuit, Bootcamp, Pilates, Yoga, Zumba, BARRE, Tabata and more. District 6 also has certified trainers for personal training. We could not be happier that we found such a great place close by. I can pull right up and park for free just feet away from the front door too, no getting in the middle of downtown hassle. From that point forward, the process became a nightmare. I went into the gym multiple times, called multiple times, contacted the billing service, and even reached out to corporate. No one was willing or able to help. Every person I spoke with essentially passed the responsibility to someone else. I was told someone was "in charge," yet they claimed they couldn't do anything. When I asked to speak with the owner, I was told the owner doesn't handle billing issues either. It was a constant cycle of "not my job, not my problem." The biggest issue is their so-called 30-day cancellation notice. In my opinion, it's simply a cancellation fee by another name. If you're advertising a month-to-month membership, I should be able to walk in, cancel my membership, and stop being charged. Instead, you're required to continue paying for another month before they'll actually end the membership. That requirement was never clearly explained to me when I signed up. Despite trying to cancel since May, I continued to be charged. I hadn't even used the gym in over 6-8 months, yet the charges kept coming. To make matters worse, I was threatened with being sent to collections if I didn't pay, leaving me no choice but to spend over $100 just to finally end a membership I'd been trying to cancel for months. I've worked in sales and customer service for well over 10 years, and today I'm a manager for a multimillion-dollar construction company. Throughout my career, I've made decisions that cost my company money because it was the right thing to do for the customer--even when the situation wasn't something we were contractually responsible for. That's what good management and good customer service look like: taking ownership, finding solutions, and putting the customer first. Unfortunately, I experienced the exact opposite here. Instead of anyone taking ownership of the problem, every conversation ended with someone passing responsibility to someone else. For no reason but for leaving a honest review about a nasty unsafe gym that needs better management! The one in Hixson is the real deal..the better place to workout..don't waste your time or offend these guys or you'll be banned as well. The 2nd machine didn't work either. Dozens of emails and numerous phone calls later and they have the 2nd defective machine removed, and replaced and set up with a 3rd machine. The 3rd machine does not work either. Dozens of emails, several phone calls and another marathon troubleshooting session with their IT, and still no working machine. I filed formal complaints with the FTC and the NV Attorney General, which I let Echelon know that I did yesterday. Now, today, they are finally taking me seriously after several dozen hours of back and forth with them and the delivery/set-up company over the past 7 months. They finally stated the elliptical machines do not work and there is no fix. They said the only option at this time is a refund and returning the 3rd defective machine. Yet, they are still selling the elliptical 8S on their website as well as at least 11 other websites that I found. This is fraud at its finest people. The repairs lasted two weeks, and it has been broken since. The owner is aware, complaints have been made to the staff and passed along to the owner, and they continue to allow their patrons to exercise under dangerous physical conditions, as exercising in high heat can lead to heat cramps, heat exhaustion, or life-threatening heatstroke. Yet this gym is willing to take that risk on their patrons.
