First some fun history - Embry- Riddle was founded as a company in Ohio in 1925 by entrepreneur Talton Higbee Embry and barnstormer John Paul Riddle. They soon founded the School of Aviation. In 1939 Riddle partnered with John McKay and started a pilot school in the Fritz Hotel in Miami partnering with the University of Miami to provide flight training under the Civilian Pilot Training Program. It is no longer only a school for pilots and aircraft mechanics. The university now offers more than 40 undergraduate and graduate degrees with nearly 32,000 undergraduate and graduate students annually with students from all 50 states and 125 nations. The Daytona Beach campus was founded in 1965 when the Miami location was closed and has more than 5,100 students. I know several friends who work here and one on the board of representatives. If you are interested in an aviation focused career you need to look into this university. Daytona is a great campus with wonderful faculty. Several of my friends and colleges store there planes here as well and give the students access to use them for training. They trust the students with there very expensive toys and they are kept in great condition at the campus.

I'm not a student here nor did I attend this University. So you're probably wondering how I decided to give it 5 stars. During the summer, I attended a conference here for STEM education. I stayed in one of the dorm rooms, which were a bit on the dingy side. There were stains and mold in the rooms, but I know that they had some flooding issues and still repairing stuff. I don't know what the other dorm rooms look like, so I can't compare. Plus I'm not reviewing the dorms or the food at the Student Center. I'm reviewing the campus as a place of study and the willingness of all the students and professors to help out STEM education. Upon arrival, the ERAU staff made sure that each of the conference attendees were welcomed and needs were met. If our rooms didn't have any linens, the student staff was on it and they were knocking on your door within 5 minutes with linens and towels. The campus is small so there's no need to worry that you will get lost. Plus if you do happen to get lost, any one on campus is willing to help you find your way. I had a chance to speak with professors and students while I was there and they all seemed to have a great working relationship. The students want to be there and the professors are there to teach the students. ERAU isn't a research university so that means that the professors can focus more of their time on teaching rather than researching. The campus is constantly filled with the sounds of aircrafts flying above. You can go for a flight or two with some of the students who are studying aviation. If you are looking to study anything dealing with aerospace, aeronautical, or some sort of engineering, this school is definitely worth checking out.

Son just started at Embry-Riddle. So far, I'm impressed with the staff and accommodation. Perfect size school.

So Professor Kotas is awesome! But the rest of the school is trash! The platform used for learning…read moreother languages is insane. Rosetta Stone is so much easier. Whatever platform they use makes it impossible to learn. Another thing is the money grab. My husband has an entire associates degree but UCF wouldn't accept and made him go from Daytona State. He's also been in the military for 10 years. Now why would a 29 year old grown man, need and have to take a class called "managing your success" the material is insulting to his intelligence. This is a class he shares with high schoolers whom are dual enrolled. You have got to be greedy who ever is in the office that made the decision that he would need such a class. It really is a greedy money grab to even require that of him. He doesn't need to be told how to manage his time. He has a whole degree. These people are insane, who ever evaluated his degree and decided you know what, let's give him a whole other years worth of classes required before he transfers. Education should be about quality not quantity. Enough with the greed. A 29 year old who spent 10 years in the navy and time getting a degree while in the navy doesn't need a whole class about time management in which he sits next to 15 year olds from high school. GREEDY GREEDY GREEDY. Shame on whoever evaluates transcripts.

This is now Daytona state college. There are 4yr programs available at this location.read more
