Piano day and concert series. My daughter had an opportunity to attend Piano day at Stetson. They have an impressive Music program. Lovely campus and great vibe! Small town and very expensive school. Focus on obtaining grants and scholarships if you are serious about this University. read more

A hidden gem in Florida. Though you may not have heard of it, Stetson University is a wonderful college with a beautiful campus. They offer many majors and degrees, the facilities are excellent, and the campus is nestled in the town of DeLand so you get that college-town vibe. The university is small enough so that students get personalized attention from the faculty. School spirit is evident everywhere. Definitely worth a look for anyone applying to college! read more

My son drove 7 hours to a filthy room. The bathroom had a hole in the ceiling and concrete and sharp pieces all over the bathroom floor. Someone left their personal item ( vibrator) in an open drawer. The microwave was dirty, the stove was broken. This is supposed to be a prestiges college. This is definitely not what it is looking like. Very disappointed read more

At Stetson you pay not just for small class sizes, but one on one training with, not just any professor, a professor who has mastered their craft to a significant degree and to which they stand out amongst their peers. Now having both of my children and now a future son-in-law graduating I will not likely be back to Deland as much. The school has been a great place for education. My issue with 2017 commencements ceremony is that it is now an outside (hot-wet) event and they spend a tremendous amount of time on patting the faculty on the back and giving themselves rewards. I wish they would go back to smaller groups INSIDE the auditorium and have a separate event for the faculty to congratulate themselves so that the day can focus on the students. read more

After many times trying to recover my enrollment deposit that was unfairly charged, I decided to try somehow to tell my experience with Stetson University to prevent this embarrassment from happening to other people. It all started when I received a letter without even having applied to this college (must be a usual college strategy) in this letter it had a scholarship offer of approximately $60k (90% cover for that year; Fall 2022) my family and I were happy and went to Stetson to make sure if it really applied with my immigration status (I'm in process, but I'm not a permanent resident yet), I took all my supporting immigration documents to be analyzed if the offer would apply in my case. We were met by Veronica at the Financial Services, who assured us that the scholarships would apply to me regardless of my immigration status. So we scheduled the date to do the enrollment, and we had the last confirmation with Veronica, who assured us again that no matter the situation, the scholarships would be applied in my case and trusting that statement, we made the enrollment, paying the amount of $500 for registration deposit. A few weeks passed and we went to check on the Stetson website the amount we would pay monthly but unfortunately the scholarships were no longer there; (we were expecting monthly payments of approximately $1k), to our sad surprise, there was an infinitely greater amount than we expected and with only 1 small scholarship processed. We made an appointment again with Veronica, we took the immigration documents again and she photocopied all my immigration documents and was responsible for forwarding my case to the President of Stetson and solving what could be done in my case, and why the scholarships did not apply in my account. After some time, the answer was that I could not receive the scholarships, and the amount to pay presented I would be able to pay, and so until today I have not received the refund of my enrollment deposit. In addition to causing me great sadness and frustration, I also lost $500 to pay for another college. I just want my money back as it will make a big difference so I can pay for another college! This was my sad experience with Stetson University, I hope no one else goes through this, because the stress was so great that I even thought about giving up on my dream, to attend a college. read more

The University Housing Department is a disaster. The assignment of rooms is done in a very non-transparent way with accommodations assigned with limited integrity. For our son's senior year, we expected more. This is a terrible way to start the final year here. I cant wait to receive the donation requests after graduation. I feel I'm being generous giving a 2-star rating. read more

Stetson is my undergraduate alma mater. It was tough, but it was worth it. Rigorous academic experiences combined with some very necessary life experiences helped set me up very well for grad school, and ultimately, for leadership in the real world. Plus, there is a sizeable alumni community in my area. I can't say enough good things about Stetson. Plus, I made some great friends there, and I've managed to keep them. When I walked to class on my first day, in the presence of old-fashioned architecture and well-groomed landscaping, a wave of nearly pseudo-nostalgic pride washed over me. I am but one in a line of many who have attended this pedagogic institution in pursuit of knowledge and experience. The erudite minds of these past ghosts resonate through the halls and inspire me to no end. There is a history here. As I learn with each passing day, so I contribute not only to such history, but to the future as well. Currently I'm a sophomore earning a degree in psychology and contemplating a minor in creative writing. Stetson has a plethora to offer concerning experience in your particular field and just all-around entertainment in general. Lectures are hosted, film discussions are planned, and community-growing funds are raised. Not every event is strictly scholastic in nature. Sheer fun can be had at paint parties, sport competitions, rushing, theme park trips, and more. One thing that I'm convinced of is that Stetson University truly is a paradigm of the personal. With such small classes, personal relationships proliferate; Not only with fellow colleagues but, more importantly, with your professors. The intimate environment that Stetson offers is entirely unique. It is one that can suspend you to great academic heights and achievements. The professors themselves have rich educational backgrounds that give substance to their strategic teaching methods. If you find yourself inquiring deeper into the material, chances are the professor can answer such musings with wit and clarity. The lectures tend to be spiced up with hands-on labs, interesting projects, visual media, and the sort. You will find that Stetson as a whole is a university that cherishes and promotes the cultured mind. read more

I'm currently pursuing a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Stetson University, and, I must say, I'm having a most enjoyable educational experience :) I went to the super-huge University of Florida during my undergraduate years, so the small environment here is a huge change. The campus itself is beautiful and quaint with classic brick buildings and finely manicured grounds. The surrounding areas are quaint and cool with a truly historic downtown just blocks for campus. My professors are top-notch professionals still active in the mental health field, and I have enjoyed several events like meditation workshops and the witnessing of a Buddhist sand mandala being built on campus. Stetson is a great school! read more

*This review is solely about the campus aesthetics as I am not an alumni nor am I affiliated with the University in any way* What a gorgeous campus! Compared to the more modern college campuses is the norm in Central Florida, Stetson offers a wonderful blast from the past. It is a relatively small campus and one can explore it in its entirety in approximately 2 hours. Of course, this is when you only observe the exteriors. We did our exploration on Easter Sunday so none of the buildings, except the Student Union and Library, were open to the public. I am most curious about the interiors of Deland Hall, Elizabeth Hall, and Sampson Hall. This is a wonderful place for photo opportunities, especially with the architecture and landscaping. And with quaint downtown Deland just a few steps away, exploring Stetson University can easily be coupled with exploring the adorable stores (including restaurants and bars) along the main street. read more

Christmas candlelight service . Fabulous. The students are so talented. This is classical Christmas musc at it's best. The music director made great choices and the students, especially the female vocalists were very talented this year. Unfotunately this year's Christmas show is over. However, there are other shows during the year. Be sure not to miss the Candlelight processional next December! It's an inexpensive ($20) treat. Includes a sing=a=long of some of your fave Christmas carols. read more
