The lack of any kind of professional planning and organization for the guests is unreal. Doors opened at 9pm but we weren't even allowed in to sit at our reserved table for an hour. Took another hour to get a single drink order. The place was packed but unfortunately they don't have a clue how to manage a crowd of its size. I wanted to order a dessert but since we couldn't even get our drink at an acceptable wait time, I didn't bother. Was looking forward to an awesome.night of comedy, I don't expect to walk away utterly disappointed. Im actually kinda mad about the whole experience. Nope. I won't recommend this place. There are other comedy clubs that show more respect to their patrons and know how to run an efficient business. Shockingly bad service. read more

We paid $100 for reserved seating last night and walked out having watched zero accountability happen in real time. The owner came out before the show and explicitly told the audience no talking. Within minutes, the guy to our left was talking through the entire main act. Nobody stopped him. To our right, a visibly drunk woman kept getting served, kept talking, and eventually spilled her drink all over the person sitting in front of her. Nobody stopped that either. Because the staff did nothing, other audience members had to step in and confront the drunk people themselves. That created real tension in the room -- which is about the last thing you want at a comedy show. You're supposed to leave laughing. We left stressed. I've been to the Comedy Store and the Comedy Cellar. Neither of those places would have let any of that happen. People get cut off. Talkers get handled. The show gets protected. That's not a luxury -- that's basic management. Seattle doesn't have many comedy clubs, and the ones that exist should understand that better than anyone. After the show, the owner apologized and offered us free tickets to any show for or non-reserved seating. We paid for reserved seats and got offered the back of the room as compensation. That's not making it right, that's making it worse. If you're going to charge people good money for a night out, you have to be able to control the room. Watch out for the service fees--they might claim that the ticket cost so much (including fees) but then they charge you another fee on top of that--which is ridiculous since you don't even get tickets: your name goes on a list. Everything on the menu is pricey and everyone is required to purchase two items, but you figure it is worth it to see a favorite comedian. A HUGE reminder to everyone considering buying tickets THEY WILL NOT REFUND TICKETS for any reason what-so-ever. I found the office and front desk staff to be exceptionally rude. Drinks are watered down. Serving staff and comedians pretty good. read more

The venue was overcrowded. I know this place exceeded the amount of occupants allowed. Safety hazard. It was uncomfortable being so close to strangers. Depending on where you were seated, table space was very limited. Ticket prices were expensive for the seating. Food and drinks were overpriced. I really wanted to like this place because I enjoy frequenting comedy shows but don't want to drive to Tacoma. Unfortunately, this is my first and last visit. My friends and I saw Trailer Trash Tammy aka Chelsea Lynn at the Emerald City Comedy Club last weekend. We were a party of 4 arriving early at the venue on Capitol Hill in Seattle. We received VIP treatment with the ability to walk in early and pick our own table. We then walked around before the show and upon returning, the staff were incredibly attentive as we walked right in without having to stand in line. The show was everything we hoped for and more! Apparently the performer canceled her show today at 6am. More than 12 hours later we were standing in line due to zero communication and nobody at the door. People that we spoke with came from various locations and some drove from the east side. No refunds issued just yet. All the cancellation info was communicated by the owner of the next-door bar who offered discounts at his place, which was nice but also ridiculous as nobody showed up from the actual venue to inform us. read more

Good venue, their food and drinks are pretty much the same price as a restaurant so that's cool. Seeing Jason mews was amazing! Their ticket purchase site is easy to use, also signing up for their loyalty club gets you free tickets sometimes. Staff is also super chill! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was parking at the end of their block if you take a right is a garage that says it locks at 8 and your unable to retrieve your car till the next day, so for a 7 o'clock show that's a no go, if you go left at that same light it leads you to a sketchy diamond parking lot that has homeless all around and feels like your going to get broken Into. As a former employee, diamond won't help you if it does, hell most their lots don't have cameras and if they do they are broken.... But this isn't a review about how bad diamond is,just saying parking sucks otherwise, it's a 5 star all the way. read more

Saw Sarah Sherman here (and a couple openers). Great show. Sarah was intriguing, hilarious, weird, smart - can't come up with enough descriptors. We had an amazing table just outside the VIP section and were pleased. They have a 2 item purchase minimum so plan accordingly. Easy in, easy out. No parking so take ride share. A bit hidden as on 2nd (3rd?) floor. Entrance 50 ft or so North of where map says it is which is a set of stairs from street level. read more

Great shows and staff! The item policy is excessive and detours people from coming back, or at all. Many clubs have dropped this type of a policy. I hope they reconsider also, as more seats will fill. I needed to use my phone to pay, and it was turned off. Max, awesome dude by the way, needed me to turn my phone on before the headliner was done to accept my payment while I was in the middle in the third row. Likely due to policy again. Besides that every member of staff there is phenomenal! 4/5! Parking be irrelevant to the business. That's the vehicle operator's responsibility, which I saw no one complain about not having valet ironically. Much love! read more

I was already feeling like I didn't want to go here based on the really bad location in Seattle and no parking, plus the two order minimum per person was a real turn off, but I was willing to put that all aside because I really wanted to see the person that they had scheduled. My particular show of several scheduled shows was canceled and customer service was absolutely no help to get me transferred to a different show. I called and emailed and all I got was a lackluster response of getting a refund. The customer service here is a negative 5 and I will never try to buy tickets for a show again. read more

The comedian was excellent and deserves beyond 5 stars. I have seen the comedian at other venues and will make sure to stick with going to other venues in the future, as I do not plan on returning here. One star (zero if I could ) for the club itself. I understand the 2 item minimum protocol, which is standard at many venues. What I do not agree with is charging a customer who orderd a single diet coke (which is listed as $5 on the menu) and then without asking the customer, charging them unknowingly for an $8 diet coke and citing the bill that it is $8 due to unlimited refills. I was never asked if I wanted a single or unlimited and to top it off, I never recieved a refill and was never offered a refill the entire time I was there. Great way to rip people off. I would have disputed the charge but I was with a group and one person paid and then we all paid that person back separately to make it more convenient for the wait staff. I will not be doing that again nor will I be going back to a club who takes advantage of customers. read more

Emerald City Comedy Club manages to combine two of the worst traits a venue can have: it's blatantly misogynistic, and the sound is so atrocious you can't even hear the punchlines. The end result? A room full of frustrated, silent audience members--because even if the jokes were good, they'd be drowned out by a mix of echo, distortion, and total disregard for half the crowd.
