Went to see Spamalot at The 5th Avenue Theatre with family, and had a great time. Small intimate theatre, that is a historic party of downtown Seattle. Visited the 5th Avenue Theatre to see the tour of Chicago. What a surprisingly nice theatre! I was not expecting the Chinese theme, and found myself looking at the very detailed decorations in the lobby and the theatre. The seats were comfortable as far as theatres go, and getting in and out was easy. Restroom access before the show was also not a problem. During Chicago there was a lady in row L using her phone to film key scenes. It was very obvious and distracting, and I was hoping ushers would get her to stop, but they did not. read more

A beautiful theater downtown Seattle with lots of space, spacious seating, and perfect for Broadway shows. The service is friendly and they had drink options as well. What a magical evening at 5th Avenue! The Mary Poppins show was fabulous and captured your heart and attention. We enjoyed some refreshments before the show (Rice Krispie treats and Baileys on the rocks). Both yummy! What somewhat detracted from our experience was the accessibility options. Someone in our group recently had surgery and needed the elevator to access our seats. You must be escorted to the elevators and they are back outside and halfway down the block. That was not ideal. Beautiful! Also with your tickets, you can get free wine at participating restaurants. I went to Bombo for their house wine. Got access to the lounge which is usually available to patrons who donate $5k or more. Lounge had pics of the costume sketches and the model of the stage as well as pie recipes on each table because of Waitress the play. Got the Mexican chocolate pie slice and the Marionberry with hazelnut pie slice. I liked the chocolate one better because it was less sweet. read more

WOWWW!! I didn't know watching a show out of Broadway New York. This venue was fantastic. Very welcoming staff. Asian themed theatre wind hand crafted woodwork and decoration. Watched White Christmas here and i wish i could watch it over and over again. They serve drinks and snacks as well. I'm in the city for the Seahawks Packers game and was looking for things to do. We saw that the theater was having the Marry Poppins play and we went to that. Buy your tickets in person and not through a 3rd party site! Thank me for the savings later. Mary Poppins was amazing! I loved the 3 hr play. We had 1 drink in there called "A spoon full of sugar" which was not sugary and good. Restrooms!!! This was different. Men and women share the restrooms, meaning that you will see men waiting for urinals while women are in the same line waiting for the stalls. Yes, I did see several women in line feeling awkward in seeing men pee in the urinals. read more

I have been to The 5th Avenue Theater a couple of times. Most recently, I attended Mary Poppins with my husband and were impressed by the production- from the directing, to the acting, to the special effects, lighting, and sound, everything was practically perfect in every way! The tickets were digital and a bit confusing but the usher was kind enough to help me navigate technology with my phone to retrieve our tickets. The building itself is gorgeous with its Chinese carvings of dragons and impressively detailed and ornate entrance. Food and beverages are allowed in the theater as they sold cafe and bar type food and drinks in many locations throughout the foyer. The bathroom situation was expertly managed as a long line wrapped around the foyer during intermission moved swiftly so that we could all return in time for the second half of the production. Parking can be a bit of a pain if you park in the garage directly under the theater. Plan for at least an extra 30 minutes to exit the garage. I suggest parking a couple blocks away and walking into this venue. read more

What a fun, historic place to come and visit. I went here for a little team bonding with my coworkers to see the play Clue. It was so much fun, that was the second show, some of the pictures are from the first show I attended, called Somethings Afoot. We had great seats, the show was amazing and the place was immaculate, yes, including the restrooms. Throughout the year, the 5th Ave Theatre has many shows to enjoy with friends or family. The theatre itself is beautiful, and I prefer the seating and set up to other comparable theaters in the area such as the Paramount. The 5th does a wide variety of shows and brings some excellent talent to the stage. What a beautiful, amazing venue to see true performing arts. I attended a preview of Waitress! It was amazing, we sat in the front row of the left balcony and had amazing seats. Everything was easily seen, easily heard, and clear. We enjoyed the show so much, we are already looking for our next show. The staff were spectacular, we were greeted going in as our tickets were scanned, then we made our way up the stairs to the mezzanine level. As we found our way to the aisle, we waited for them to open them up the seats. As we walked up the steps we were greeted and shown where our seats would be. We placed our items on a railing and were kindly informed we could not do so, never once felt uncomfortable with the staff. Everyone was super kind. I will be back to see more shows, it was truly a perfect evening. read more

Absolutely BEAUTIFUL theater on the inside. The seating is good in terms of options and views of the stage. The seats are comfortable. We bought tickets for a musical the day before and were able to get pretty good seats. The bathrooms are gender neutral! You can choose between a stall or a urinal. Kind staff. They offer hearing aid devices so you can hear the production if you have hearing loss. read more

A stunning historical theater with very high quality productions! We went for White Christmas and had an amazing time. The building is very beautiful and well maintained. The staff (shout out to Dyson!) is very helpful and knowledgeable. They do have beer, wine and spirits as well as a pretty large concessions selection on both the main and upper level (buy the $4 cup to take it into the theater). It's Seattle, so many people don't dress up and opt for their Patagonia jackets, however we dressed up and got some beautiful pictures in a gorgeous location! Highly recommend. read more

This review is really hard to write but what I have experience at this theater is completely unacceptable and not worth my money. For the many shows I've seen I've had people walking in front of me the ENTIRE first act and all or part of the second. They apparently do not care about demonstrating and enforcing appropriate theatre etiquette and it truly ruins the experience. I did not pay $100 to see people walking in front of me! If you care about theatre etiquette (do not admit people arriving after curtain, do not get up during the show) then go to a different theater such as Paramount or the Rep. if you think it's acceptable for people to treat a theater production as if it is a baseball game and walk around at all times, then by all means, go! I have seen many wonderful productions at the 5th over the years. I supported them throughout Covid with donations. As someone who is passionate about and loves the theatre I could not be more disappointed in their complete lack of theatre etiquette. They seem to think it's completely appropriate for people to be getting up during the entire show, making it impossible for other people to see. The most recent experience I had was no different. I saw Elf this month. There were a few lines I couldn't make out but overall, the performers did a wonderful job and it would've been an extremely enjoyable performance had I ACTUALLY BEEN ABLE TO SEE IT! Instead of doing their jobs, the ushers sat in the seats in front of us and watched the show, ignoring the dozens of people that walked in front of us literally every minute. These folks came back carrying drinks and whatnot because apparently, they were selling concessions all during the show which encourages people to get up-why? When did that change from being something they only do an intermission? It is completely inappropriate and rude to the performers and audience members. As a vertically challenged human, I choose to sit near the aisle so that I could see a little better. It's easier for us shorter people if we can lean out rather than trying be blocked by a tall person. Apparently this theater just doesn't care if we see the show because no matter where I sit, either I'm stuck behind someone who's tall and I cannot see or I am on an aisle and people are walking in front of me nonstop. read more

My mother and I had such a difficult time getting our tickets to pull up. Went to the ticket office but the lady working would not help with our issue! Told us she needed the email and well as the ID to use us the verified purchase when I had the copy of the email (shows us the verified purchase). After 20 minutes of dealing and not getting anywhere this security guy tells us that Molly (ticket checker and usher) she was able to help since the show was starting. She took th lead and handed us a card and said have a great show! This angel came out of no where and gave us 6th row seats to the Notebook! I hope this karma comes back to Molly ten folds! My mother walked in and gave a few workers $10 Starbucks gift card she always keeps in her purse. The night was a success and we both had an amazing evening thanks to her :) keep this prized employee around bc I will be come back for futures shows and hope to see her darling face again soon! read more

So not what I am use to at all. The venue is small the seats are dated and the stage is small. Warning the parking garage charges 30 for the event and the bathrooms for women well you can climb down a flight of stairs where it's all stalls and share with men or on the first floor wait for a single stall in a restroom with six urinals. Take your pick it's open restrooms. I didn't walk up stairs to see that mess. My first time here and won't be coming back. I recommend elsewhere for a better experience. read more

This is a theatre that we have brought family for years for the occasional holiday or other themed show and it always went as well as anything in that mess downtown. This last year I decided to buy my wife a subscription since we had more free time to go to shows now with the kids gone. So it started with "Into the woods" and what a horrible production that was with a wooden cow and led lights etc!! My wife sat there amazed at how awful the production value was and we almost left early. We should have because now a days the parking garage exit takes forever (like 30 minutes) and we were pissed to be home so late from such a crappy show. There was bathroom drama as well as having to purchase a sippy cup for your drink!?? Then they market the hell out of me even after I unsubscribed twice and called to ask them to stop three times! Then we ate 20 minutes away for Sweeney Todd and my phone starts lighting up about a last minute cancellation due to illness. Whatever happened to the show must go on? No understudies? Then after requesting a refund they sent me a useless gift certificate. We are just going to give it away and our Les mis tickets. Can't trust this production company for a good night out. Don't waste your time too! Many other options out there! read more

If you are a disabled person who is looking for a single sex bathroom (male or female, remember those??), you're out of luck. The ADA bathroom is for all genders. In fact both downstairs bathrooms are now "for all genders". None of us in my party are comfortable with this, but I suppose it pleases this ridiculous trend where "gender ideology" trumps biological sex. The world has gone insane. read more

Absolutely adore this theatre. Not only is it beautiful, historic and cozy, but all the seats are amazing. It's one of those where you can see the stage wherever you sit, and there is enough space between seats so that you're not jammed or bumping into your neighbor. I have been seeing performances here for several years, and have to say, not one time did I leave without being thoroughly elated. The pieces they put on are interesting and professionally done; the scenery is always beautiful, the music and acoustics great, and the quality of the performers superior. I just saw Elf there today, and had some doubts because I've avoided this content because I am not a fan of the actor who originally portrayed this character in the movie, but have to say, everything was amazing. The story, the acting, the singing, the dancing, just superior all the way around. What a treat for the holiday season. Love the double-entendres thrown in here and there; a lot of people brought their kids, but the context and takeaway are certainly for an older audience. Not sure who runs the theatre now; I was a bit concerned when they partnered with STG and when their tickets started selling through Ticketmaster, but everything seems to be going smoothly, and I prefer to go directly to the box office to buy mine. Would highly recommend the theatre itself, but also any of the shows they put on. Drinks and snacks are a bit over the top pricey, but, I suppose that's one way to support the theatre. read more

I saw the play 'Parade' this past weekend. A Saturday matinee to be exact. And I bought a rush ticket at the sales box office. I found the female sales clerk with glasses unfriendly, passive aggressive, and a bit assumptuos to my interest paying for my ticket. In fact she had nerves to use the word budget towards selling me a preferred ticket. If I would and bern honest and told her. I'm very poor. But I make slight financial sacrifices for theatre. I just saw "Marie, Still Dancing" here over the weekend and it was great! The combination of ballet, singing, acting, and art of Degas, I was blown away. 5th Avenue Theater itself is beautiful! It seems to be Asian inspired interior. While we were waiting, there was enough open space to not feel claustrophobic. The bartenders were also very friendly and nice when serving drinks as well as the ushers who showed us to our sheets. I don't really have anything bad to say about this place. It definitely inspired me to get back into acting and art and I definitely will come back whenever I see a show that entices me! read more

Extremely disappointing! Purchased tickets for the show SUFFS. Spent $350 to stay up the street at a beautiful hotel. And at 6:08 PM (for a 7:30 show) received a voicemail that the show was canceled and to check my email for further information. No other information has been given. No email has been given. I walked to the theater to see what happened. I guess there a technical difficulty that prevented the show from starting. Sounds like poor planning and unpreparedness to me. I've been to this venue before and was very impressed. This time NOT AT ALL. Not sure I will go back. This could've been handled so much more professionally. thousands and thousands of dollars wasted on people's hotel rooms Ubers and dinners out to enjoy a show. Extremely disappointing! What a waste of my time and my money. Do not go to this show. Do not go to this venue because they obviously don't care about their patrons. Had they called me two hours before I checked in the hotel it would've been salvageable. I am out a lot of money with no show and nothing else to do tonight. read more

My daughter and I went to see Annie during the holiday season. I purchased discounted online tickets through my employer. The price of two tickets seated in row N were $230. Several paid parking garages are within walking distance of the 5th. We parked in the 6th Ave Parking Garage for $12 (Sunday rates). Upon entering, all handbags are searched. Security is lighter at the 5th than the Paramount (large/bulky jackets aren't allowed at the Paramount). Lobby doors open 45 minutes before the show and seating starts 30 minutes before the show. Shows run approximately 2 1/2 hours with one 15 minute intermission. Snacks, drinks, beer and wine can be purchased to consume during the show. All drinks must have a lid on them. The 5th seating has a bit more leg room than the Paramount seating does. The couple of times that I've been to the 5th, the view of the stage has been unobstructed. The sound has been clear. Annie was no exception. During intermission, the bathrooms are packed. The attendant placed in the bathroom ensures that the line moves smoothly and quickly. Overall, I wish that we could afford memberships to both the 5th and the Paramount. Since that is no the case, I enjoy dropping into the 5th whenever a certain show catches my attention. read more

An update! When I give a poor review, I make sure to make a second visit in the event my personal experience was not quotidienne. We attended a July performance of "Clue". Our experience was very different. We sat in row J on orchestra level. The temperature was JUST FINE. (I also arrived better prepared with multiple layers.) Perhaps the thermostat was broken the day we saw "Spring Awakening". This theater is Confucian-beautiful and the attendees will love their experience -- if they dress in layers. read more

The 5th Avenue Theatre is a beloved live theatre venue in Seattle. Along with Paramount, these two represent the grand old theatre going experience - both beautiful and evoke feelings of grandeur. The 5th more commonly produce their own shows, typically leveraging existing plots and songs, putting in their own twists, and creating their own sets, costumes. They almost always create one completely new show per year, some of which finds its way to Broadway. Examples include Shriek the Musical and Hairspray. Typically, once a year, the 5th will host a touring show. It's easy to tell which is which; the touring show has a much shorter duration while the 5th shows are typically 4 weeks or so. The latest brand new show is "Marie, Still Dancing" (previous name was "Little Dancer"). It was WONDERFUL, and I don't say that lightly. It was easily the best completely new show that the 5th developed. I have high hopes for its success on Broadway. Don't let the cost of theatre tickets stop you from the experience. There are many ways to look for discounted tickets. - Day off shows, direct from the 5th - Use a discounted ticket source, such as Goldstar During the break, be sure to get a chocolate chip cookie. We had a lot of good years at the 5th as season ticket holders for 20 years or so. It's a beautiful theatre and we've seen some great shows, ok shows and not so great shows. In sum, we have enjoyed our time there and have enjoyed supporting the 5th through attending shows and donations when we've been able to give extra. This year we let our seats go b/c at renewal time we were told we had to buy a full season package, NO exceptions, which just didn't fit with our situation this year. In the past years this was not the case. You could buy a full season or partial season. We also tried to switch from evening to matinees, but they said they were unable to tell is if the seats we wanted (our current seats that we've held for 20 or so years) would be available and that we would have to pay in full prior to finding this out. The subscription manager was a little off putting and made us feel like we were trying to steal someone elses seats. We weren't. We just wanted to know if they'd be available for a matinee time, before paying for them. We didn't think that was unreasonable and didn't want to spend $1400+ dollars for seats we didn't want. As a result of all of the above, we let our seats go, but were sad to do so. Interestingly, within a month or so after the renewal period was over for longtime, faithful season subscribers, we noticed now they are selling partial seasons packages. Not sure if they were trying to get rid of some of us long haulers or what, but it felt/feels pretty disappointing, which is why we felt like we needed to leave this feedback. Despite this, I'm sure we'll be back for the occasional show. 8/30/22 update: We got an email from the 5th today: "You haven't renewed your subscription at The 5th Avenue Theatre and well, it just won't be the same without you." "For a limited time, until September 16, you can CREATE YOUR OWN subscription package. Choose a three, four, or five-show package with any lineup of shows you'd like from our six amazing productions, including the triumphant return of Les Misérables!" Less than 2 months ago during our renewal period they said they were not selling partial packages, NO exceptions. Just called out of curiosity and of course our seats are not available any more. So weird, but makes us feel like we made the right choice not to renew. I guess they make more money from stand alone ticket sales vs. season ticket sales? read more

We absolutely love this theater! The venue is beautiful. The staff are helpful and engaging. And the shows are always a delight. While we have certainly enjoyed some performances more than others, we always leave feeling like we've gotten more than our money's worth. Very disappointed with 5th Avenue Theater and the unisex bathroom. I was just in what used to be the men's bathroom on the main floor using a urinal and a woman walked in to use the stall. The urinals did not have any kind of partition between them so your just there for anyone walking by to view. Do not let your young boys go in alone. read more
