Puttshack is a hip spot with a number of 9-hole mini golf courses inside. They have a full bar and serve food, but we just chose to play golf. The scoring is the coolest part here. The balls have chips in them, and the course knows where your ball is at all times. It scores the round for you, and each hole has additional challenges called "supertubes". Scoring is backwards from traditional golf, so you'll want as many points as you can to win. The pricing on weekdays is super reasonable here, and that's why we delayed our visit to our last day in Denver. The other days we were in town fell on a weekend, and the prices felt kind of outrageous for weekend golf. If you can, I would certainly stick to visiting Puttshack on the weekdays. It was also nearly empty during our visit, which made it much more enjoyable. I would return to a Puttshack for the fun gameplay and cool scoring mechanics. Just be sure to watch the pricing tiers based on the day of your visit!

I was able to play it again early this Friday morning with 3 great guys including one colorful character, Matt from Wausau now Golden. He's sporting the Loudmouth pants and golf bag. Fairways and greens are in excellent condition. The course is still cart path only, no problem for 6'7" Ben in our group that walks and carries his bag on every course. Fossil Trace is doing this to keep the course in prime shape while conserving precious water. The 12th hole remains my favorite. The standing rock formations require strategic shot placement. I carded a par today with a fortunate bounce off the rock stand behind the green then a good downhill chip save. Fossil Trace and Arrowhead remain my two favorite "fun factor" courses in the Denver area.

Most people hear about Aqua Golf as the place where you can drive balls into the water, and that's a great reason to go. Once you're done driving away, give the mini golf courses a try. It's really clean, much bigger than you'd expect, and a lot of fun. It's more a a grown-up mini golf course compared to a kids mini golf course, but kids will still have fun with it too. This is a great spot to catch up with friends outside while swinging or putting away. Aqua Golf is a nice golf hidden gem in Denver.

I hadn't played a pitch and putt in a long, long time, and with barely any equipment required to play, this was definitely worth a visit. Only $1 per club rental, we each chose 1 club and 1 putter. Lots to choose from, so it took us some time to choose carefully. The 1 club + putter challenge we had made for a real fun round of golf, added a layer of thinking to a fun round. The golf was great. Super casual. We came mid day on a weekday, so it was not busy. We were allowed to bring some beverages (went to nearby Denver Brew Co), and had a lot of fun. Greens are surprisingly fast, especially downhill. Bunkers had legit sand, and there is even the threat of water. We bought a 6 pack of balls in the pro shop cuz they were only $5 (only needed one each), and bought a divot repair tool ($1) because we were planning on raining golf balls on all the greens. Lol. We had so much fun, we played a second 9. Joined up this time with a third, and he was a super fun hang. Good golfer too. All tee shots are off mats, which is expected. Wasn't a problem for us. It wasn't super busy, but pitch and putt is going to attract all manner of skill levels. We had a lot of time to kill, so we were prepared to wait and chill at each hole (back in the day I'd go to places where we could be 10-15 people deep at each tee box), but it moved fast today. That said, when we were leaving, we saw a group of 4 and 5, and most looked like beginners. I have another day in Denver, we may try and play another round.
