But the cleaning the room they don't use cleaning chemicals to wipe down, don't clean the bathrooms, vacuum the rooms. This urine smells havoc as soon as you start walking down the hall. Not even the fresh paint can mask the smell. The staff and patients are so accustomed. The care of the staff is there but by far this is the down fall too make a report. After learning the terrible rehab facility had lied to me about submitting my mother's paperwork to be transferred, Linda was beyond kind and attentive in helping me. She even spoke to the terrible facility for me on the phone and quickly got my mother transferred to Coronado. People like Linda who care and help you when you need it are very special. :) When you walk in, it feels like a hotel! The ladies at the front desk always greet you with a smile and acknowledge you with a warm welcome. Which may seem little but means a lot when you're stressed and worried about visiting your loved one. They also have a gorgeous courtyard area, library, lobby, gift shop, Chapel, dining room, activity center, rehab facility, coffee area and hair salon! My mother also had a beautiful little outdoor patio area that was inside the enclosed courtyard. The entire staff has been exceptional in caring for my mother but my mother's day to day nurse, Chantal, was a guardian angel. Every time I saw her come into my mother's room she was smiling and had a kind and positive attitude. Nursing is a tough job but seeing someone who loves their job and goes above and beyond for your loved one is all you ever want. The relief to leave at night, knowing your family member is in good hands is all my family ever wanted and Coronado gave us that with her help and the rest of the truly caring team. Linda, Chantal, Howard, Joe, Stephanie, and I know I'm missing a few others, I want to say thank you. My family and I are truly grateful for this wonderful facility and the team behind it. :)

We have even had several meetings and conversations with the Administration (many times with no response). We would like to know if anyone has experienced issues with any of the following: getting responses from administration ; administering of medications, such as overdosing, not being given on schedule, or/as prescribed ; making changes to Physicians Orders (meds, changing original prescribing doctors, changing number of refills as prescribed by original doctors) without notifying family and original prescribing dr's. ; the Emergency Call Wireless Pendent not working for extended periods of time and on many occasions a lack of adequate response time ; ordering of prescription drugs and over the counter meds without family approval ; lack of adequate staffing to provide the services and care they say are included in the rental charges and level of care fees ; being overcharged and or not responding to billing questions and questions regarding auto withdrawals & checks from Dad's bank ; getting resident, who they knew could not see, to sign document(s) ; experience with Licensed Nurse not being on call 24/7 (as stated in literature provided) to ensure oversight of issues at night and weekends if needed. These are just a few of the concerns we have had. In my opinion, the techs try their best but the understaffing and lack of scheduling, availability and support from the administration is pathetic.

I had my mother there for 3 1/2 years, along with private health care workers on a 7 day, 7am to…read more5pm, schedule. They went through 4 different managers, numerous employees and ever increasing rates. I paid extra for them to administer meds, bathe her, each morning check her blood sugar levels, prepare her for bed at night, and clean her when she was incontinent. As her alzheimer's progressed we found dozens of her meds on the floor or under furniture, they seldom took her blood sugar reading till after breakfast even at the protest of my private aid workers, this skewed her results for her Dr. I know that she was seldom checked at night though again they were to check every 2 hours on their residents. They also did not prepare her for bed more than once, so she slept in and soiled her clothes. Most of the time my private aid workers would bathe her as it was not being done by the Laurels. The carpeting in their hallways, for the past 2 years, has been coming up all over their building making it easy for falls. While she was there, her wedding ring and pearls valued over $10,000 disappeared. I am making a complaint against them with the State of Texas, and have yet decided if I will sue them for breach of Contract and bad faith. If you care about your loved one at all, keep them as far away from this facility as possible.

A family member went to visit and saw the airbed unplugged. The facility is terrible. The administrator has a dog and some other kind of furry animal in her office. I heard a patient yelling "shut that damn dog up" when the dog was barking. The staff mostly stands around the front desk talking or deciding where to send out for lunch. I spent several days in the horrible place and saw first hand the neglectful way the patients were treated. The CITY and STATE need to inspect this place as well as OSHA. Several times I saw dirty needles, gloves, gause and assorted medical supplies on the floors. Many sanitary rules are broken on a daily basis I don't know how they get away abusing the sick and elderly.
