I've been visiting Dana weekly for a little over a year, since the shocking death of my little brother. I get treatment weekly from Dana and she is fantastic. She treats me and every customer with respect and is very warm and welcoming. Dana is awesome! The receptionist is very accommodating and welcoming. We went in for the community acupuncture session to try out this place. It is only $25 for almost 2 hours! It is $20 if you can pay cash. The place has a very serene quality to it as soon as you walk in. From the smells of essential oils, to the strawberry infused water, this place instantly relaxes you once you come inside. No cliquey, granola vibe about this place, which is what I hate about some others. We explained some of our issues but she was able to know what our problems were very quickly. A good sign of any caring practitioner should be the patient feedback. While I was waiting, three clients came out from their appointments and gave her a hug each time. Other patients waiting were only talking about how great and caring she was. I have been getting Acupuncture and cupping from Dana for neck pain, back pain, etc and find that's it has helped so much more than going to the Chiropractor ever did. She explains what she is doing, why she is doing it, and truly cares about helping you heal. I have always found Yelp to be a particularly useful resource for finding good acupuncturists. I have been to see many different acupuncturists, in Arizona, California, and Colorado, and hands down, the ones I found through Yelp are always the best -- even better than the practitioners that were referred through other sources (friends, doctors, etc.) Shortly after my first session with Dana earlier this year, I came down with a sudden case of the flu that was getting severe quickly. Then, rather than canceling the acupuncture appointment I had already scheduled, when I called to tell her about the flu coming on, she told me to go ahead and come in. She gave me an acupuncture treatment and some herbs that obviously helped my body fight the oncoming onslaught, because I kicked it in 2 days (when I would have ordinarily been sick for more than a week with the initial symptoms I had been experiencing.) Every person is different, and even if acupuncture would be a very effective therapy for you, not every person is going to connect with every acupuncturist. It is a very personal choice, and how comfortable you feel with your practitioner will go a long way toward the success you have with it. But, one thing to keep in mind is that there really isn't any such thing as a "wrong" acupuncture point that will hurt you, at worst it simply might not be noticeably helpful, but it will almost always be relaxing, so it's worth a try. I'm not sure if Dana is a witch, a wizard, a magician, or just a miracle worker but I have never felt better! Where do I even begin? About 16 months ago I started to get MAJOR stomach bloating out of no where (I mean by boyfriends parents even thought I was pregnant). It was on and off but mostly on. I tried everything; watching what I eat, drinking peppermint/ginger tea, lemon water, fiber supplements, probiotics basically anything I could find on Google for bloating. After trying to find a solution on my own with no success I decided it was time to visit my family doctor. My family doctor took some blood test that all came back negative so he refereed me to a Gastroenteritis. At the Gastroenteritis we did more blood work, breath tests, ultra sounds, and a colonoscopy...these all came back normal. The Gastroenteritis literally shrugged her shoulders said their is nothing wrong with me and that they couldn't help me. I felt so defeated, I knew their was something wrong, I was bloated to the point of looking 6 months pregnant and THAT'S NOT NORMAL for a 120lb girl. A few months passed and someone recommended I see a a naturopathic doctor. I figured it couldn't hurt so I went. After 4 appointments, no progress, and hundreds of dollars the only thing it hurt was my bank account. After 9 months of many doctors appointments I was just exhausted mentally and emotionally. In October I started to get significantly worse. My bloating was the worst it had been, I started getting migraines, I was unmotivated at work, and my emotions were out of wack which is unlike me! I was desperate for any kind of help. I called my mother crying explaining my situation and she told me she had heard acupuncture works for bloating! immediately I went to Yelp where I found Dana (she had the most and best reviews). I called Emerge (literally still crying at the time) and the staff was so understanding, kind, and helpful over the phone. Telling me that they definitely could help me with my bloating. Not only that, but Dana has helped me with other issues that previous doctors said they couldn't help with. I had back pain from a herniated disc for the past 2 years. I attended the community acupuncture which was very helpful in reducing anxiety. The studio is nice, bright and clean. Dana, the owner and acupuncturist is warm, friendly, knowledgeable and professional. The process of community acupuncture was pleasant, relaxing and serene as I laid in a comfortable recliner with a lavender eye pillow and listened to music that must have been created to induce relaxation as a number of my fellow community members were snoring. Not really knowing what to expect, I was very happy with the acupuncture I received through Emerge. I've gotten general acupuncture just to balance out my body and I loved it. Dana has been sensitive and patient with the roller coaster of emotions and issues related to becoming pregnant when the odds are not in your favor. I can say this, we have done IVF before and did not have good results, and I believe the outcome this time is different because of this very gifted and caring practitioner. I believe that she has made all of the difference in our fertility journey. Emerge has a beautiful yoga studio space. I have taken several Ashtanga classes with Rachel and they have all far exceeded my expectations. The class is traditionally a very tough practice and Rachel has a way of making you feel completely comfortable wherever you are while still assisting in adjustments and alignments to further the practice. It's obvious that she has a deep knowledge of the Ashtanga series and her Sanskrit is right on! i've been going to Dana for years and without her I don't know where I'd be! It started years ago with a stomach pain that even the Mayo Clinic couldn't figure out. After lots of specialists and testing with no improvement I found Dana. In the years since she has helped me with many minor ailments from cold and flu to stress and muscle aches. Dana is absolutely wonderful. I suffered with chronic tendonitis in my fingers for over a year before I saw her. I had been treated by 3 specialists, had physical, occupational and hand therapy and was still in a lot of pain. Dana Bairen operates her business from a narcissistic standpoint. In other words, she will judge you, and if she judges you negatively, she'll refuse to treat you. My brief time in her practice reminded me of being a high school clique -- if you're in, all is well. But if there is a problem -- say, treatment is not working, or if you request t a refund -- then you're not part of the "in crowd" anymore and she denies you treatment. I remember, early on when I'd just discovered her practice, she told me about a client who was "high maintenance" and she "just couldn't take it anymore," so she told him to find another acupuncturist. "Gee, Dana," I said, "I hope you don't refuse treatment for me someday." "Oh, I wouldn't do that," she replied, "you're so sweet." But my comment proved to be prescient, for she did boot me out of her practice ultimately and refused to treat me. I can't emphasize enough how narcissistic she is, and how contrary that is to the principle of healing and the Hippocratic Oath. Ultimately, you should not be in the Healing Professions if you live to pass judgement on others. read more

Dana, Michelle, and Lauren are a wonderful team! Michelle and Lauren are great at reminding you about your appointments and rescheduling when you need to change (and if you're like me that's a lot!). They are incredibly friendly and welcoming when you come in as well, and they make you feel very at home. Dana is a fantastic acupuncturist. I am so lucky to be able to see her regularly because she does cupping on my back which has always caused me a lot of pain. If you haven't tried cupping, do it with Dana. It's completely worth the upfront discomfort to have a back free of tightness and pain. Also, Dana takes the time to get to know you and what specifically is causing you frustration in a given session. From stress eating, headaches, to knee pain, she makes sure each visit is tailored to your needs. Quick note: They just opened a community center with classes like yoga and tai chi. Having suffered from a chronic disease since birth, I have been on many different medications, undergone multiple procedures, treatments and surgeries. After a particularly scary incident that left me in the hospital for 8 days, I decided I had to try something new to combat my disease. I started at Emerge in June, 2013 and it was one of the best decisions I've made in a long time. From the moment I walked through the doors I felt the positive energy, warmth and passion that infuses not only the building but everyone in it. Dana is absolutely wonderful to work with; the joy and passion that she has for her work and patients is palpable. My acupuncture sessions with her are often one of the highlights of my week. I leave feeling physically, mentally and emotionally centered; an experience that I was previously unfamiliar with but thoroughly enjoy. In addition to the acupuncture, I also attend the weekly Qi Gong classes. As a 24 year old, I enjoy sleeping in late. That said, I haven't once regretted waking up a little early to make it. The classes are at 11:30am, so they're a perfect way to start a fun, productive Saturday. Kristen is a fabulous instructor; she's incredibly knowledgeable about Qi Gong as a martial art, and I really appreciate the fact that she takes the time to explain both the proper way to perform the poses and their purpose. She makes the classes both fun and physically challenging. I leave her classes peaceful and centered, but also feeling as though I had a really good workout at the gym. I've come to believe that the healing Dana and her entire staff perform transcends the physical ailments I have. Just these few months at Emerge have made a huge difference in my life. I've seen my self-confidence grow, which has opened a lot of doors for me socially and emotionally. Plus, I look and feel great!
