It seems to be the trend with medical providers to have dodgy billing practices. They bill insurance late and send the account to collections early. One star rating because zero stars is not an option. Like every other review, agree this company is a complete scam. My mother received a collection notice for a two year old invoice. EPIC had an incorrect address, so she never received this invoice. You would think after the post office returned every statement as Undeliverable/No Such Address someone in the billing department with half a brain would have said hmmm....maybe I should check and make sure the address on file is correct. George at EPIC gave me the name of the doctor. My parents have no recollection of ever being seen by this doctor that billed $2,200. Requested a copy of the invoice/statement. Told they could only send by mail and 7-10 business days. Ever heard of email? Just delaying so they can add more interest and fees? When I informed them that they had an incorrect address, was told by George that once sent to collection they cannot do anything about it. He admitted the address error was EPIC's fault, but refused to take any action to correct their billing error. Checked with the insurance provider. No invoice was ever received from this provider. George at EPIC confirmed that the invoice had not been submitted to my insurance. Why? Why wasn't her insurance billed? Were they afraid the insurance provider would identify this invoice as fraudulent? EPIC has 54 complaints filed with the Better Business Bureau in just the past three years. same experience as others. random collections hit our credit for me to find random dates of service from years ago. they won't give me any information and told me to find it myself. Found a phone number - went to fax. Found another phone number and it kept hanging up on me. Received a notice from MLC (Debt Collector) before receiving any bill or invoice from EPIC, the party claiming that they were owed $1,355. The phone number given on EPIC web page is a fax number. I would never use Emergency Physicians Integrated Care in the future because their billing practices appear to be quite shady. Be careful! read more

EPIC is very poor at billing practices. Many reviews are like my own in that they do not send notices or bills, nor do they properly bill insurance companies in a timely manner, resulting in being turned to collections and insurance not paying as they violated the timely filing rule. Apparently double billed me. Went to their online portal to pay my bill. It gave an error and referred me to their support number. I checked my records and I had paid a bill for the exact same amount the day before. When I went to resolve it with their support number it was indicated to me they had no records of me paying it. When I went to check my bank records they indicated that they had a two minute limit on support calls. Their site is not set up so you can look at your payment history and see what you have paid and what you haven't. I am very dissatisfied with the experience. It seems that if they don't provide a history they should have taken the time to resolve the issue properly. read more

These people are complete trash! I paid my ER bill in FULL back in August when it was received (For a May or June of '23 visit). Suddenly, on 11/22/23 I get a text saying my "Dr ER bill is due NOW" and had a very suspicious looking link to pay. Everyone I asked about it said not to click on the link. Lone Peak wouldn't return my calls and when I finally was able to speak to SOMEONE from their billing they said that I have no outstanding bills. I ended up texting the number back since there was NO INFORMATION on who they were, no prior bills, NOTHING from these people or who they are! The text responded with a 800# to call, which I did, turns out it's a legit DR bill from the ER. I asked them why they didn't send me paper bills and they just grunted and didn't give me an answer! Why would the ALL OF A SUDDEN OUT OF NOWHERE send me a text saying my "bill is due"? Super suspicious and looked like a damn virus! Even the State of UT (DOL) I contacted said not to click that link. After finding out the name of the company over the phone, I looked up their info and ALL I SEE is 1-star reviews by people they never sent bills to and sent to collections! These people are complete trash. If they don't send me a paper bill I'll be sending my lawyers after them big time! read more

I entered the ED and was cared for, fast and thoroughly. I was so please with my care at St Marks Hospital. The Physicians, Steven Mimnaugh was great also. Very detailed explanation of my situation and very caring. My rating is a 5 star for St Marks and Dr. Mimnaugh. EM PHYS INTEGRATED CARE gets a 1 star for billing. EM PHYS INTEGRATED CARE took my insurance information in the room, where I was. Then they billed me $1,000 for being "out of network" and used a completely different insurance company then what I have. What! This is a scam. They new who I am, they had my insurance card. This is just a way to get money from people that don't know how to manage there claims personally. If I were elderly or to inexperienced to know to challenge this, I would have paid. This one ED visit would have taken years to pay and inevitably personal financial hardship. Not cool, they should be fined for this behavior. read more

The doctor I worked with at this hospital (on a weekend) had horrible bedside manner, treated me like I was unintelligent, did not explain procedures or tests. He managed to order tests that were $8000 for the two hours I was in the ER. He ordered me two bags of saline, determined he could not help me and sent me home. I was able to get a a hold of my primary care physician and he solved the problem over email. My doctor was concerned that the ER doctor did not spend enough time really looking at the problem because it could've been solved immediately. The billing department of this group sent me a very confusing text message claiming I was about to be sent to collections because I had not paid a bill (that I had never received). The phone number in the text didn't match the number online and because I've never heard of this group, I didn't know if this was a scam. When I finally spoke to someone at a separate office, they confirmed this company was real but couldn't help me. I found out that they had entered my address incorrectly so I had never received a statement. I spent 20 minutes on hold waiting to talk to someone in customer service and this person couldn't answer some of my more specific concerns so I asked to speak to a manager. The supervisor used a polite voice but was very inconsiderate. She constantly interrupted me. I would make a specific statement and she would parrot back something contradictory. I asked to speak to someone else, and she said she could not help me, and because a claim had been filed, I was not allowed to speak to anyone else. Now I have to wait for a bill and hope they have the correct information as they didn't assist me and trying to pay it. read more

After being harassed about paying it, I informed them that I would not pay a bill for a bill I had not had a chance to review. It has now been several weeks and I am still waiting for the bill. My experience is the same as the other reviews (horrible). Their billing department and billing practices are a nightmare. They generate multiple account numbers for the same patient for the same incident. The level of care is questionable for the amount you are billed. Avoid EPIC at all costs. read more

Avoid any hospital that contracts with EPIC physicians. Their billing staff is unethical and their prices are out of this world. Their billing staff is too lazy to work with insurance companies so they just turn over the bill to collections instead of having to deal with insurance companies. Ridicoulously way over. priced. Took my daughter to Davis hospital to er because she had a seizure. Dr told us he couldn't see anything and referred us to a neurologist. Davis was great to work with and provided a10% discount to pay in full. However the er physician was more than the hospital bill, he looked at is for 10 freaking min thats it. Received a bill for $701. No discounts nothing now will wait and go to any insta care. DO NOT GO TO ANY HOSPITAL THAT THE DR BILLS THROUGH EPIC! Very unethical and are obviously not in it for helping others! One trip to er...hospital and lab work $649 to see the er DR. $700. Messed up! read more

I wish they didn't contract in the hospital I use. Most of their physicians are rude, inattentive and just stand around and let the hospital staff do all the work. Then they send you a huge bill when the hospital staff does all the work and they basically do nothing but stand there and scowl at you. Paying for their care is like paying for nothing. These physicians do not deserve to be paid as much as they are with the unsatisfactory care they provide. I have seen this with my own visit and accompanying someone else to the ER. read more

I would agree with the other statements I have seen about this group. I was not advised they were separate from the hospital charges, which I was told were covered by my insurance. And apparently, finding out if they accept an insurance is like pulling teeth (although, I am sure if that was one of their services, they would do it as inefficiently as possible, charge exorbitant fees, and tell the nurses to do it, all while treating you poorly)! Apparently, since there is no one to talk to and I must assume, they do not take Tricare, which to me says they are also unwilling to support current armed service members or veterans, which is also despicable. I will never go to another hospital that partners with this group. What a joke. When people go to the emergency room, it is generally because it is an emergency, but this group pf doctors is clearly in business to get all they can from people at their most vulnerable. (Additionally, I had to be the one to point out to the ER doc the irregularities on the heart monitor, so I was unimpressed with the thoroughness and knowledge base of the care provided, as well.) read more
