Had a 9:30 apt today. Got called in about 35 mins later. They were super busy today. I saw PA Ryan. He is very friendly and gave me a steroid shot in my very painful left shoulder. He is also referring me to get needling done. Great bedside manner too. The only thing that sucks is their weight times otherwise five stars with him for sure. Feeling better already! read more

Just sit and wait. Sit and wait. No one updates you but there are plenty of employees just standing around. Appointment at 10:45 and it's 11:35 and no one has seen us. Cannot comment on the quality of care as we haven't received any. Supposed to orthopedic but it's just sit and wait with no one updating you. Never coming back here. Never. Might actually leave now. Beware of Dishonest Practices! On July 10, I went to EmergeOrtho Brunswick Forest Occupational Therapy to see if I could get help with my thumb arthritis. I saw David Clawson, a hand therapist. He proceeded to tell me that he would like to make a custom brace for my thumb joint. I replied that that sounded expensive, and he told me that the cost was included in my initial visit, for which I had paid a $35 copay through my Medicare Advantage plan. I asked him again whether he was sure, and he said, specifically, that there would be NO additional cost to me. He proceeded to fashion a flimsy brace, made of plastic and velcro, which fell apart as soon as I stood up to leave the appointment. He took it back and did a repair on his work. A few days later, I looked at a statement from my insurance company, and EmergeOrtho had charged over $500 for this flimsy plastic brace, of which Aetna accepted over $300, and paid about $240, leaving me a balance of over $60 to pay. I called the billing office and explained what David Clawson had told me about not being charged. I also sent a message to Clawson through the patient portal, which I never received a response to. I received a call back later that day to tell me that I would have to pay the $60, even though I was clearly told there would be NO cost to me. I have pursued this with another call to their central billing office, and a message to both the therapist and the billing office, expressing my disbelief that I had been lied to. The therapist again did not respond, and the billing office told me the case had been closed, and I was then billed the over $60 balance by EmergeOrtho. I was deceived into believing that David Clawson had told me the truth, and EmergeOrtho said there was nothing they could do about this lie, as Clawson should not have told me there was no charge to me! The irony is I didn't even need the brace he made, as I already had showed him that I had two braces, but he insisted that the one he could make was so much better than anything I could buy online, and again encouraged me to let him make this by telling me there would be no cost to me. I can't abide by dishonesty, and am writing to let others know of this deceitful practice. read more

My physical therapist was the best. Thanks Will! The couple of doctors I saw couldn't wait to get out of the exam room fast enough. They all talked really fast and acted like they needed to be somewhere else. I wish I could have skipped doctors exams and gone straight to schedule PT. read more

I had the pleasure of post-op PT with Ashley DeRemer at the Brunswick Forest location. Ashley was always friendly and personable. She is very knowledgeable and experienced with post-op PT and gave me many exercises to help in my recovery. She answered all of my questions and was sensitive to giving me feedback on what not to do. Although I am finished with PT, I feel Ashley sincerely understood my goals and made every effort to assist in my full recovery... read more

Worst orthopedic care I've ever received (and I've had 4 reconstructive knee surgeries 2 in Virginia, 2 in Los Angeles- so I have just a little bit of experience with orthos) The condensed version is this- if you care about healing and being able to do anything besides walking and sitting on the toilet, DO NOT ALLOW THESE DOCTORS TO TREAT YOU! This place is a joke. IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR BODY AT ALL GO TO A REAL DOCTOR!!! NOT EMERGE ORTHO!!! The full(er) version: Where do I even begin- I'm a professional athlete and had a sports injury. I went to their urgent care (had an appt) and after waiting 2 hours I was seen by a doctor who listened to my medical history, details on my new injury, and did an exam on me. The usual. But by the end of the appt she had given me no information on what she thought could be going on, no advice on maintenance, pain management, physical therapy, she basically said nothing useful the entire appt. Gave me a steroid shot and a prescription for an mri. Later I look at my patient appt notes uploaded by that doctor- AND THEY WERE ALL INACCURATE. I'll try to ignore the many spelling and grammar errors in the notes or the fact that she sprinkled them with lies about how she discussed an array of home treatment, pt, and pain management (but she did not- she barely opened her mouth at all), and only focus on the fact that her actual notes on my situation were INACCURATE. To the point where she actually said my injury was "eXPecially concerning because I've had 4 previous surgeries on the same knee- WRONG- it was the opposite knee which she should know as she looked at the X-rays and did a physical on me. So now I'm not only questioning her literacy skills and competency but also her qualifications. At that point I called and cancelled my follow up with her and scheduled it with a doctor I researched and chose from that same facility. Fast forward to my follow up appt. I check in and wait for over an hr before I get called to the front to be told that they're passing me to another doctor- I reply with "but I chose this doctor- and I don't know the other doctor- how can you just pass me to someone I didn't choose?" She says it's because they looked at my mri and this doctor is more suited for my needs. Okay.. so now the nurse takes me back to prep me for the dr and starts to tell me that this doctor may want to pass me back to the female doctor I first saw (ms. spelling bee) because she was my original provider. So I firmly say " no I won't be seeing that doctor- I canceled my appt with her for a reason" so she proceeds to say "well Dr Michael might want you to" so I say "tell Dr Michael I said NO!" And she starts to tell me not to get upset -now I'm trying so hard to stay calm here but I'm losing my patience now because, what the hell is this? YOU ARE NOT IN CONTROL OF MY HEALTHCARE CHOICES- I AM. I WILL NOT BE SEEING THE INCOMPETENT URGENT CARE DR AGAIN. She then goes to leave the room and says "you might have a bit of a wait as he has to see his scheduled patients before his URGENT CARE patients" so now after waiting almost 3 weeks for an appt with a real surgeon- not an entry level ortho, I'm being passed onto another urgent care PA. I'm livid. Once I finally see the dr. He gives me literally no new information. He just reads to me the same results I read with my own eyes off my portal. And since he's not an MD only a PA he's not even able to take steps in putting together an action plan for me - surgery recommendations etc. hes not able to answer any of my questions (like he clearly didn't have the knowledge) and when he would attempt to answer something it was always a scripted answer from his university textbook- no discretionary thinking no wisdom. He then tells me he can set me up with an appt with the surgeon to discuss more detail- and I tell him I won't be allowing any of their doctors to be touching my body moving forward and to please provide me with the mri images I paid for. Y'all they gave me a Cd ROM with my mri images- it's 2025.... So now, 3 weeks after my injury- 3 weeks after my initial visit- I was leaving that office for the second time and I had no action plan, no new knowledge, and had made no progress towards healing thanks to this crapshow. -at that point I realized where I was- I was in a beautiful building housing a bunch of toddlers playing 'make-believe Drs office'. Waiting time is absurd! You get in and have ur X-rays done then wait an hour for the PA to see you!

45 minutes it took just to see doctor . I advised them I was on my lunch and needed to get back to work. Do not schedule appts for people if you're going to keep them there as if our time isn't Important. Every time I go there same crap. I guess it's time to move on. it's a shame I understand 10-15 minutes but this is unacceptable. read more

My provider sent a consult about 3 weeks ago. No call from EmergOrtho Leland to schedule me. I called today and was on hold for over 10 minutes just to get to scheduling. Once she got on the line and we went through the tedious verification process, which is welcomed, she transferred me to Authorization. After maybe a minute, probably less, a woman answered. Again the verification process, apparently scheduling doesn't like the authorization woman because she didn't do a customer friendly hand off. The authorization woman said I was approved and she was going to transfer me back to scheduling. I beg her not to because I've already by this time been on the phone for 15 minutes. She said just tell scheduling I'm authorized. So off to another 10 minute hold. Once that woman answered I said I'm back again authorization said I'm authorized. I went through yet another verification process and instead if scheduling me, she does the craziest thing. She transferred me back to authorization. I left a detailed message and here it is over 20 minutes more, no return call. Oh, prior to placing this review, I called and tried the other preprogrammed extensions. Finally gave up after trying the #1 extension for Hospitals and Doctors. That wait was 1 minute and 10 seconds before I hung up. Just to put things in perspective, I was a senior manager in a national Healthcare system. For over 33 years. JCAHO (at the time) accredited. One standard for accreditation was patient satisfaction. I think in this case, they failed that standard. Also, I had received care from there previously and was very happy with my clinical provider. So I don't expect my clinical care to be any less. BTW, it's been about 3 weeks, and over 45 minutes just to get an appointment. I hope it's not another 3 weeks to be seen for a possible fractured finger. read more

I have scoliosis and one leg is longer than the other. I use orthotic inserts to correct that, balance my hips, correct my posture, and relieve pain. It was time for new ones, so I scheduled an appointment to see someone about the scoliosis and to get an order for new inserts. The PA I saw gave me muscle relaxants and an order for physical therapy. She would not write an order for the inserts because she said she was a spine specialist and I needed to see a foot specialist. First of all, scoliosis is in the spine, not the feet. Secondly, I requested an appointment to be seen for an order for new orthotics. If they scheduled me with the wrong doctor, I should not have to pay to see the "right" one. Third, I did not need pain meds. Tylenol is fine until I get new inserts and correct the problem causing the pain. I contacted the orthotic clinic and they told me all they need is an order from a doctor, not from an orthopedist or from a foot specialist. When I called Emerge Ortho back, it took them five days to return my call, they were very rude and dismissive and said "like the doctor told you at your appointment, she does not write for orthotics. She is a spine specialist." So now, 13 days after my initial appointment, I still have no order, no orthotics, never got a referral for the specialist (at her own office) she claims I need to see, and the physical therapy appointment is not for another 3 weeks. This place does not listen, does not care, does not follow through, tries to just keep scheduling you for more appointments, and passes out pain meds that are not needed. AVOID THEM! read more

I went last week for a spine specialist appt. Saw an incompetent PA, she only would look at my cervical. I told her I had issues with both cervical and Lumbar, she told me she would only address the cervical, but I could make appt at later date for lumbar....Negative. Saw another doctor at Wilmington Health he immediately ordered x-rays of my lumbar, and what would know, the problem is there. This is a business they are not in patient care they are into money!! I knew this from my knee issue, but since I was desperate for relief I took the first appt. Never Again!!! read more

Clerical staff are hired from a viper pit. no problem with the doctors. the clerks have closed my file inappropriately, scheduled an appointment and failed to enter it in the computer, lost doctors orders. The supervisor was rude,scarastic and had no answers . I waited a week before I wrote this review. If I could give them a zero star, I would. read more

Save yourself and do not go there! PA for foot/ankle has a huge ego and does not listen to you. Was hurst twice by 2 different PT people. The first PT guy was inexperienced and so green behind the ears, I thought his initial evaluation was extremely lacking. The second PT guy was too aggressive. They do not know what they are doing. read more

I went to Doc Zub twice in the beginning and all was going fine. Then I get a appointment which is a couple of months out and they cancel, then send me to Wilmington they send me home because there was a mistake. If anyone has had pain and has to live with it you know how frustrating this is. I've been trying to get help since March, I finally get a appointment for Wilmington office and they call me the day before to cancel. I would also like to mention that i tried to reach Renee Wall who is the PA and she never returns your email or calls. Very disappointed and looking for help. read more

I went to EmergeOrtho today. They fit me in with a PA, Melissa. I have been in unbearable pain for 5 days and on very strong medication I got from my hospital visit at the beginning of the week. Honestly I didn't want to see her because the last time I was there I thought she had an attitude or a bit of sarcasm. I'm glad I did see her. She was wonderful and very professional. She answered all my questions and had a backup plan for me if the shots she gave me didn't work. What I learned today is just maybe the bad attitude last time was mine and not hers. I would gladly see her again. I will never judge anyone again and certainly look deeper into what really happens. FYI. I'm so thankful that I'm feeling better. read more
