The greens seems to have suffered some major disease and moss growth. The greens are coming back but slowly and still show the past issues. The bunkers are terrible but I think most of that was weather related but there is no to little sand in them. I have always loved the design of this course as it is one, if not the best in the area. I hope they get everything worked out and this course condition comes back. Fairways are getting much better overall!

I recently went with a couple of my childhood friends who had never been and we had an amazing ride. There are several cool tunnels to go through and there is always wildlife to view and enjoy on your ride. The town of Cairo is always one of my favorite parts of biking this trail, but it was also nice to see someone built a nice little park for the kids right off of the rail trail in Ellenboro to which we stopped at to cool off under the shelter and share some snacks on one of their picnic tables. The park itself is absolutely beautiful! The lake is great for boating and fishing, and the lodge and restaurant are great too. I hope you enjoy yourself while here because I know I always do :D

This is not a fancy roller rink by any stretch. It's in a building down by the river in the area of…read morethe fairgrounds. The building is old and you have to climb steps to get to the top, walk down a little corridor to the ticket booth. They have a nice size rink. You've got to pay for your skate rental (unless you bring your own) and of course the cost to skate. It's very inexpensive! They have some disco lights and generally the music is a mix of pop and country. I've hosted at least one birthday here and attended a couple of others. It's not expensive at all to buy a birthday package. They allow you to bring in your own food and drink and they also have a concession for snacks. They have at least one or two pool tables and some arcades. A great place to bring the kids for some old school fun.

I brought some coworkers here for an intro to sporting clay shooting. A few of us had some past…read moretrap/skeet experience, but overall none of us were experienced shotgun shooters. We talked to the owner, Chuck, and setup for an evening after work to spend a few hours with him showing us the ropes. The facility is off the beaten path, but not terribly so (all the roads were paved). It was about a 15 minute drive from Marietta. The facility is nice; basically a log-like-cabin building at the top of a hill. In addition to the sporting clays course, there is a lighted trap range, outdoor and indoor gathering/eating areas, and a grill or two (they do a Thurs night shoot and steak night, I hear). I believe he said the sporting clays course is over 22 acres, and the entire property is 230 acres. Pretty big. Chuck got us familiar with the basic rules of sporting clays, made sure we had the right stuff (we brought our own guns, not sure if he rents them) like eye and ear protection, and took us out to the first stand. He coached us thru the basics of shooting a moving target, how the course works, how to shoot at multiple clays (birds) in a single stand, etc... He was very patient with us, as some of us sucked at shooting. He's a really nice guy with a lot of experience. We did 9 or 10 of the stands (like holes in a golf course... you walk around the entire hilltop.. ), I believe there are 16 overall.. and they can be changed to be harder or easier. We shot until it got too dark to see anything. Overall it was a great evening of shooting. We're planning on heading back soon. It would be a great place to do a corporate event or family outing, pending you like your coworkers/family enough not to shoot them. Call ahead and make an appointment as they don't have regular hours (maybe Thursday they do).

For the dirty deets: $25 a month no contract no sign up fee no extra BS. 24/7 operations and convenient location right off the highway. Parking is ample and accessible. Do yourself a favor and ditch the corporate bs gyms and go with a local owned local operated business that cares about its customers.
