The building is old and you have to climb steps to get to the top, walk down a little corridor to the ticket booth. They have a nice size rink. You've got to pay for your skate rental (unless you bring your own) and of course the cost to skate. It's very inexpensive! They have some disco lights and generally the music is a mix of pop and country. I've hosted at least one birthday here and attended a couple of others. It's not expensive at all to buy a birthday package. They allow you to bring in your own food and drink and they also have a concession for snacks. They have at least one or two pool tables and some arcades. A great place to bring the kids for some old school fun.

There was a sign at an intersection talking about a Mother's Day Flea Market at the Fairgrounds so we made the Left turn at the light and about 2 miles later was pulling into the parking lot. It was free to park here and check it out so there was no cost for this event. We crossed the Historic Covered Bridge that is used at the Entrance (moved here from another location in the County) The fairgrounds is located near the Muskingum River. This little park is pleasant enough, stretched out along the highway with shade trees, picnic…read moretables, a few benches. But it is actually a historic site: here is the first oil well in North America. Discovered accidentally, and not very useful to settlers in 1814, it produced a little salt and a lot of oil that was sold as a miracle cure. The well is still here; the old hollow sycamore tree they drove into the ground is partly visible at the surface, and it looks like they give demonstrations of gathering oil. There is also an old caboose and a small shack that speak to the railroad that used to pass through here. Inside the shack is a map of Noble County. Nearby is a board with facts about the area. Well worth a stop if you are anywhere nearby. Just a couple of miles off 77, so makes for a nice break, along with a snack from one of the few restaurants in town.

I brought some coworkers here for an intro to sporting clay shooting. A few of us had some past…read moretrap/skeet experience, but overall none of us were experienced shotgun shooters. We talked to the owner, Chuck, and setup for an evening after work to spend a few hours with him showing us the ropes. The facility is off the beaten path, but not terribly so (all the roads were paved). It was about a 15 minute drive from Marietta. The facility is nice; basically a log-like-cabin building at the top of a hill. In addition to the sporting clays course, there is a lighted trap range, outdoor and indoor gathering/eating areas, and a grill or two (they do a Thurs night shoot and steak night, I hear). I believe he said the sporting clays course is over 22 acres, and the entire property is 230 acres. Pretty big. Chuck got us familiar with the basic rules of sporting clays, made sure we had the right stuff (we brought our own guns, not sure if he rents them) like eye and ear protection, and took us out to the first stand. He coached us thru the basics of shooting a moving target, how the course works, how to shoot at multiple clays (birds) in a single stand, etc... He was very patient with us, as some of us sucked at shooting. He's a really nice guy with a lot of experience. We did 9 or 10 of the stands (like holes in a golf course... you walk around the entire hilltop.. ), I believe there are 16 overall.. and they can be changed to be harder or easier. We shot until it got too dark to see anything. Overall it was a great evening of shooting. We're planning on heading back soon. It would be a great place to do a corporate event or family outing, pending you like your coworkers/family enough not to shoot them. Call ahead and make an appointment as they don't have regular hours (maybe Thursday they do).
