I was too scared for a long time to chop my hair off or get away from dying my hair black because it was just low maintenance. Being a mom and living an hour and a half away from this salon, I don't always get the chance to get my hair done often. But I decided I needed some change and have been talking to Megan Jessy about chopping my hair off and starting the blonde journey from black hair. Today was my first session and my hair came out exactly how I expected if not better! As you should know, going from dark hair to blonde is a PROCESS. It doesn't happen after one or even two sessions. This was Megan's first time doing a balayage on me and she was seriously so amazing and personable! I highly recommend her. And her cutting skills? I am the pickiest person when it comes to cut. I come from Nashville, TN where I spent good money on haircuts. And let me tell you, Megan is one of the BEST. I had to upload updated photos because Yelp lacked them. Truly, Honey + Hive is a hidden gem. I've been to 3 different salons in town and this one is where you need to go.

My hair was heavily bleached and had been dyed "brown" several times since a horrible bleaching mistake. I had a weird color (not a good one) of puke blonde at the ends, dark brown (at my scalp) and mousy brown in the middle. Appealing, eh? I needed the stylist to fill the blonde hair which had no pigment and could not retain color, then dye it all brown. Ivy did exactly what I asked and a nice shape up cut. Although not an awesome end result - at no fault of the stylist - due to my damaged hair and unwillingness to cut any additional length. I was pleased with an even color and no more frazzled ends. I would go to Ivy and/or Moda again. The price was also reasonable for two processes and a cut. Parking is sparse, so be prepared to not just run in the door (like I did!).

Wanna know who is the coolest chick in this joint? Mrs. Amanda Bradley. She has seen me through light, dark, brown, red, and purple hair. She has also cut layers and bangs for me- which I am still loving. She A-L-W-A-Y-S talks with me before we start on exactly what I want and brings our the color swatches. This is after bringing me a bottled water and catching up on what is new. She is fun, bubbly, and the best hairstylist on this side of the Mississippi! Wait, people don't say that anymore but for real she does an great job. She will give you advice on your best look, but ultimately does whatever you ask. She can give you a super edgy look, or keep it classic with highlights or an all over color. The layout of the salon is very smooth and follows with each stylist. The waiting area has a great fish tank ( to keep people entertained) and the receptionist is very polite and helpful when making appointments around a busy schedule. This prices are compare able to any downtown or modern salon in town. I have long hair and it costs around $100 depending on if I get my eye browns done or just a cut and color. Lastly- she has NEVER made my eyebrows look bad so you won't be seeing me on any of those epic fail eyebrow threads. Ha. Ha.
