Emma was an enthusiastic cheerleader and supporter to us along our wedding planning journey. Emma is very responsive, enthusiastic, detailed and creative, and helped us accomplish a fantastic wedding day.  Emma helped us identify creative ways to replan our wedding during COVID19, and was incredibly flexible as our plans changed multiple times. We ultimately were able to get married in a small ceremony at Starved Rock State Park in IL, and Emma went above and beyond and drove out there a few weeks before the wedding to scout out some beautiful spots for photos.  During our wedding day, we had photography services with Emma and videography services with her colleague Carlos. Their team helped us feel excited and confident throughout the whole wedding day. Emma's positivity and energy helped us have SO much fun during our photo sessions. Carlos was able to creatively capture video from the full day and we were so impressed by the sound and visual quality of the videos. I can't say enough good things about Emma and our experience! We had a 9-week, whirlwind engagement. Once we picked a date and a location, I e-mailed about 15 highly rated photographers from The Knot to see about their availability. At this point, we were maybe 6 weeks out from the wedding. Emma was available! Score one for us! We met with her via Skype and chatted; she was friendly, organized, and on the ball. She shared with us initial quotes, asked questions about things we hadn't thought about yet (since we had only been planning for a few weeks), and she talked us through what to expect. Once we selected her, she sent us a contract and a questionnaire. We filled it out, sent her a pinterest image board, and sent her a timeline for the day once we had an idea what it would look like. We met with her in person about 4 weeks later at my mom's place, which is where we had our first look. She was on time, we went through everything, and came away with a solid plan for the day. We talked about rain briefly, but decided we'd cross that bridge if we came to it. One week before the wedding... rain in the forecast. Each day closer to the wedding, it looked worse and worse. We had an indoor wedding but were planning on shooting at Wrigley, under the El, at murals, and at Montrose Harbor. Emma came up with several rain plan options for us to choose from, and we were set. Once we had that in place, I decided not to worry about it any more. Day of the wedding- Emma was on time, began shooting the details, and took pics of me getting ready. She has a wonderful, friendly demeanor about her that puts everyone at ease- our older parents, my young nieces, my dog, and specifically ME--- I am photo shy and do not like to be center of attention. As the day went on, she directed us subtly or not so subtly, but never in our face intrusively. We took pics with our dog after the first look, at Wrigley (she is fearless and stood in the middle of the street), at Salvage One (she got us a permit there last minute, the pics are awesome), by some murals, by the El, and at our venue. During the ceremony and reception, she was everywhere but not intrusive. Right away after our wedding, she posted some pics to Instagram and FB. We were so excited to be on our honeymoon and start to see a flavor of our pics. She shared a sneak peek album of about 65 pictures a week after our wedding and they are just amazing. We can't wait for more! As we planned the wedding more, we realized we'd need her for longer. She worked with us to help meet our needs. Emma is TALENTED. PROFESSIONAL. And she was just FUN to spend our wedding day with. She captured the most magical day of our lives! read more

Emma is absolutely amazing. She is extremely knowledgeable, kind, encouraging, fun, and, above all, generous. And, of course, she is a truly gifted photographer. Our photos are stunning. With Emma, we were able to be comfortable and enjoy ourselves as we worked together to commemorate our wedding. I truly can't imagine a wedding day without Emma Mullins. My wife and I had to scale our wedding way down due to the pandemic, but keeping Emma for photos was quite possibly the best decision we made. She kept the atmosphere joyful, with her professionalism and exuberance giving an even a grander sense of occasion to the pared down affair. She was always in a mask, and we always felt safe and comfortable during the time she spent with us. And did I mention her images are absolutely gorgeous? Because they are. Posed shots are beautifully composed and selected so that everyone's best side is alway on display. Her candid shots display the exact mood of the moments she's capturing, and have provided us with even more wonderful memories of our wedding day than we would have ever thought possible. At this point, every computer desktop background, profile picture, cell phone screen saver, and framed image in our home is an Emma Mullins photo, and I could not be happier about it. She helped us plan out photo time so the we'd have the perfect balance of subjects, styles, and locations, and then executed that plan efficiently, while making the whole thing feel like a breeze. I'm positive that a wedding day with Emma was at least 60% less stressful than a wedding day without her. The complete gallery was returned to us in a timely fashion, with all the photos selected, processed, and presented to give us the perfect portrait of our wedding. Emma is truly the best! My fiance and I had her photograph our engagement pictures and also some family pictures. She was so patient and wonderful in braving the snowy elements with us. As people who do not really like being in front of the camera, she helped us feel so comfortable and confident through her words of encouragement and enthusiasm. Emma was fabulous! She covered our reception in September, and we couldn't be more pleased. To prepare, Emma and I had two FaceTime calls, and I instantly felt like I was talking to one of my besties. She also sent a very detailed questionnaire/picture list, so we could both be clear on any "must have" shots. During the actual reception, Emma captured tons of great candids and posed shots for anyone who asked. Multiple people commented to me that we had the nicest/most cheerful photographer. Emma was incredible. The photos are incredible. We can't thank her enough. We hired Emma for our engagement photos. I was really nervous and feeling self-conscious. Emma was able to make me feel so comfortable and I was so happy with how the photos turned out. We of course hired her for our wedding. We have been in a lot of weddings, and so has our wedding party, and everyone raved at how organized, efficient, and direct Emma was. We took photos at our favorite record shop -- a place I'm usually intimidated to go into as a customer, let alone a bride in a big dress -- but Emma was assertive and kind and we got some of the most amazing photos! Emma also literally stopped traffic on Damen Ave to get incredible wedding party shots of us walking down the street. It is hard to wrangle a wedding party, extended family, and tipsy guests, but Emma kept all the photos going and got all of our requests (as well as all of my mom's extended list of requests). Timelines and schedules change, but Emma was able to make changes on the fly and be creative in the space. Emma did such an amazing job at capturing special moments, including the little ones that others may not have noticed. Also, the photo "booth" was such a hit with our guests. The photo quality is so good and we cherish these prints! I know I am using a lot of superlatives and exclamation points, but this is all authentic. My husband and I knew we wanted a photographer who understood us as a couple. Emma was more than we could ask for! In our meetings leading up to the wedding, Emma was knowledgeable about Jewish weddings, something that was important to us. Her pictures were stunning, and her flexibility in photographing our day was exactly what we wanted. We felt comfortable with Emma, and her calm personality put my mind at ease that our wedding would be photographed beautifully! Leading up to the wedding, Emma asked us for detailed information to help get a better idea of the photos we wanted. She provided lots of assistance, and asked great questions that helped to focus the vision for our wedding. On the day of, Emma was fantastic! Beginning with the photos of me getting ready, Emma was creative and photographed the sweetest moments with my family. On our December wedding, the weather was surprisingly in the 40's, and Emma was so flexible that most of our photos were outside! She picked a perfect spot for our first look, and took some very neat, urban pictures of my husband and me. Emma photographed the entire event, and I still can't believe the amazing photographs she captured! The photos from our first dance and the horah are spectacular, and she truly listened to exactly what we wanted. We really didn't want many "serious" photos or photos that made us feel goofy, and Emma definitely listened to us. At the end of the evening, Emma took us outside to take some night photos. Every time I look at these photos, I tear up! They are beautiful, and show our love in such a lovely way. The night photos have some really cool features, and Emma's talent shows through. Emma sent us a preview of our photos while we were still on our honeymoon, which was such a treat! After receiving all of our photos, we love using the website. From the time I first requested a quote and more information from her (one year prior to our wedding) until she finished our beautiful photo gallery, Emma has been nothing short of amazing. I had researched quite a few photographers and decided to contact her because I loved her portfolio images, her prices were more than fair and I read the rave reviews posted by previous clients. She was constantly in contact with me throughout the planning process and was even kind enough to give me recommendations regarding other vendors that I was looking to hire. I felt like I was her top priority even though I knew she must have been busy with her other clients. First and foremost she was at the decided spot right on time and made sure that we utilize the dedicated time in covering all the places that we had decided. This was a very special photo shoot for us and Emma made sure that the photos were memorable. Emma photographed our wedding day and she did a great job. We did things a little differently as we had a very small wedding (15 people total) outside in Lincoln Park. She met up with us in the morning and was right on time. The pictures she took while we were getting ready were beautiful and candid. She made sure to get some shots of the hotel which had some cool areas in the lobby. She did a great job of sticking with us the whole way and getting beautiful shots without us really even noticing her there. Emma was amazing to work with throughout our planning and on our wedding day. Right from the start, Emma worked with me to develop a photography package that fit my budget and my wishes. She was incredibly prompt in her communication which I did not find in other photographers I was talking to. We Skyped Emma and adored her easy going demeanor and professionalism right away, and ended up signing on with her without interviewing any other photographers. During planning, she was so helpful and looked at my wedding timeline to double check it made sense and made recommendations about best times for photos. Emma has nothing but glowing reviews on-line (all immeasurably deserved), so it's hard for us to add anything unique. So, we'll just talk about our wonderful experience working with Emma for our wedding. We searched on-line for "journalistic" photographers for our wedding. We wanted someone who would 1) capture the essence of our evening and celebration and 2) be easy to work with. Emma was the first one we reached out to because we loved her gallery and blog so much (criteria #1), and she was an absolute delight to chat with, so we knew right away she'd satisfy #2. We signed her up immediately. We did an engagement session with her to get to know each other (highly recommended!), and those photos were absolutely perfect and used for our website and invite. For our wedding, her husband served as the second photographer. Emma worked with the bride all day, and then her husband worked with the groom for getting ready shots. They were both a delight. For the ceremony and reception, we honestly barely even noticed them, yet based on the photos, they didn't miss a single part of the night. And towards the end, we were basically just calling over groups of friends and family to take group shots, and Emma could not have been more patient with the admittedly rowdy crowd (kind of like herding cats). Emma was so incredibly patient. It has been such a pleasure going through all the photos. They say a picture is worth a thousand words - well Emma has given us millions and millions of sweet, beautiful, and memorable words with all her wonderful photos. I have utilized Emma's talent on multiple occasions, once for engagement photos and again for professional headshots, each time was a great experience and definitely enough to seek her services out again. My husband and I wanted our wedding experience to be as easy going and non-conformist as our mothers would let us, Emma allowed us the freedom to make those wishes come true. We took pictures that captured our personalities and where we were in our lives (in love, living in industrial Chicago). I am so grateful to Emma for capturing our wedding day. She was such a joy to work with and the photographs (that we have seen so far) are absolutely gorgeous. She was so professional and prepared. We didn't have any worries on the day of the wedding, we knew Emma had us taken care of and that everything would be perfect. It's funny, after the portraits were completed, I don't even really remember Emma being there, but she obviously was because there are photos to prove it! She captured everything we wanted without being the least bit intrusive or interrupting the flow of the evening. My only advice would be to have a second photographer for at least the beginning of the reception. We had a small wedding and didn't think it would be necessary. I feel like Emma was a bit crazed trying to capture the photos we wanted as well as capture the impromptu moments with our guests. She couldn't be in 2 places at once, so I feel like the second photographer would have been a great help to her and made it a lot easier. Emma was our wedding photographer and she was amazing. The package we chose included an engagement session, which we did last fall, and the pictures were great. She was able to get some perfect shots of our energetic dog, which is no easy feat. Emma did our wedding two weeks ago and the sneak peak photos she sent were fantastic. I do not like getting my picture taken and am not photogenic. She worked with me throughout the whole process and was able to gauge when I was "done" and needed to move on. Emma was great! She made our engagement photo session easy and fun! We told her what we were looking for in our photos and she took our ideas and ran with them and made them better than I could have imagined. We also took our photos with our 95lb German Shepherd and she was wonderful with him. Our photos came out absolutely perfect and we got them super fast.
