It has been a few months since my wedding and I'm finally getting around to writing this review. Honeymoon, name change, new job, oh my! We're sorry this is so delayed, Victoria, but I wanted to make sure that you and the world knew how happy we were with our photos. Victoria and her team were fantastic! She did both our engagement photos and wedding photos and they turned out amazing. Honestly, exceeded my expectations, given the typical, plain photos I'm used to seeing from weddings. She gave us a mix of portraits, moments and detail shots, all of which were fantastic. Originally, we didn't want to see each other before the ceremony and we were going to try to shove all our photos into an hour after the reception, all the while missing our cocktail hour. Boy am I glad Victoria recommended first look photos... I don't know if I would have survived the day otherwise! It took a few months for me to come around to the idea, but I'm so happy we did. First introduced to Victoria during the Yelp IL Covo Event I noticed her ability to unobtrusively get candid shots of Yelpers talking and drinking (really? we drink? ha) and also getting great posed up-close shots! The proof was in the pudding when I saw her online Gallery! She has years of experience shooting models, events, bands, weddings, and it shows. So, when I was assigned the task at work to find a photographer for a corporate shoot, I didn't hesitate to contact her. Victoria was one of our reception venue's recommended vendors, and it's very easy to see why! Victoria and her studio manager Brandy are super professional and communicative, and logistics were very smooth from start to finish. Her photography timeline was the backbone of our wedding schedule and really helped us shape the day & how many hours of coverage we would need. A joy to work with, and spectacular photos! Victoria and her partner were a pleasure to work with. They were very well prepared for our wedding and reception, and did a great job of making sure they and we were on the same page about everything related to shooting the day's events. I knew Victoria was great from our engagement shoot (for someone like me who is awkward at posing) and we picked her for that based on the amazing/creative work we saw of hers & then obviously hired for our wedding. Our wedding pictures came out even better than I'd imagine. She has an incredible artistic eye for catching great photos of everyone and getting moments we didn't even realize were there. Her team was also amazing, and fun to be around! (Eva was with her as our second shooter). Another thing I loved about Victoria & her team was the amount of details asked prior to the wedding and kept a list to make sure we got any and ALL photos we wanted. Victoria (and her office manager Brandy) does an amazing job of communicating with couples frequently over several months before the wedding (with questionnaires, emails, etc.) to figure out a good timeline to ensure she is able to take the photos with the places/people that you want. She really strives to make the couple happy but she will be completely honest with you if certain ideas are unrealistic. She is then able to give you more feasible options so that everyone is happy as well as stress-free on the wedding day. Even with last minute changes, she's able to adapt quickly and her competent, calm demeanor allows the couple to more easily relax and enjoy the day (which is worth its weight in gold). Her best photos (and her assistant Tom's) take advantage of fun, candid moments between the couples and loved ones as well as her ability to play on light and shadows and focal points. Victoria Sprung and her team photographed our August 2015 wedding. We love our photos and appreciate her work before, during and after the wedding. Before the wedding, there were several communications to help clarify our vision for our photos and the plans for the wedding. During the wedding, she was a true "photo ninja." Despite having two photographers and a lighting assistant documenting the day, we never felt like her team were intrusive. They were professional and respectful and made everyone feel at ease. There were several reasons why we selected Victoria. First, we selected her because she is masterful in capturing and composing photos in challenging situations. To me, the ability to capture BEAUTIFUL photos indoors with the subjects in action is the true test of a great photographer. A good photographer could take posed photos in daylight. Victoria is GREAT. We knew she had experience taking photos at our church and reception site and that was important to us because we knew both sites could be challenging from a lighting perspective. [TIP: I would encourage all brides/grooms to review the photographer's portfolio for photos from situations where the lighting is dim (indoors, inside a church, etc.) to find PROOF of the photographer's ability to manage LIGHT. Without good light, you won't have good pictures. You'll see that Victoria has plenty of photos showing how she masters light.] Second, it was important to have rights to our photos, without feeling pressured to purchase more than the agreed upon package. After the wedding, Victoria and her team delivered nearly 1300 photos of the wedding - including family formals, preparation photos, creative photos, and reception photos. She thoughtfully provided two full sets of photos - one set with her watermark/attribution for online uses and another set in high-resolution for printing purposes. We are so grateful for full rights to the photos. For example, our engagement photos were used on our wedding website, in our guestbook, on our thank you cards from pre-wedding events, etc. So many uses! [TIP: I highly recommend the engagement session. It's a great way for Victoria to get to know you and gives you a nice preview to her style.] Finally, Victoria is obviously passionate about her work and it shows in the photos she delivered! She continually finds opportunities to explore and work with other great photographers. I was thrilled to see her attend several professional photography conferences in advance of our wedding - I knew she would be learning new techniques that would result in amazing photos. Where do I begin? Victoria is F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S. My husband and I were looking for a wedding photographer six months before our wedding after deciding our other photographer wasn't a good fit. The minute we stumbled across Victoria's website, we knew we had found *the one* and, even better, our wedding weekend (6/30) was somehow one of the only weekends she still had open during summer of 2012 -- talk about fate! From our first meeting to the engagement session to our wedding day, Victoria was thorough, conscientious,creative and, to be quite frank, awesome. Here are some of my favorite things about her: 1. She is not just an amazing photographer, but also a really amazing person. She even donates a portion of what she makes to ASPCA! 2. She is full of knowledge and knows what looks best and communicates this in a way that guides you to the best pictures without being pushy/bossy like photographers can sometimes be. 3. She really reads the crowd and somehow manages to capture special moments that you probably didn't even know happened at your wedding. 4. She is super responsive which is a priceless quality when you're in the thick of wedding stress :) 5. She's pretty much the most talented photographer ever. 6. Oh my gosh. Well now that I'm done SOBBING as I look at the pictures from my wedding day, I came immediately over to Victoria's yelp page to say as many good things as I possibly can about Victoria. She is friendly, and funny, and her pictures are...AMAZING. She caught things on camera I didn't know happened. Little moments between family members and friends, and excited genuine hugs and happiness. A shared look between my husband's parents. A small touch. Goofy moments, like when I asked my dad to hold my bouquet for two seconds, and my dad, who NEVER hams it up, posed with it for her. And the POSED pictures?!!? I hate having my picture taken because I am one of the most unphotogenic people EVER, but she somehow managed to make me (and everyone else) look fabulous. She had some fun ideas for shots, and she took a bunch of great photos while managing to be completely unobtrusive. Seriously people, THIS is what's wrong with the world today. Get-A-Life, impostor... In case you were wondering, here are the reasons why we know it's fake (aside from the fact, that I am in fact the new Mrs. M): 1. As far as I know, Victoria isn't married, and if she is, my second shooter certainly wasn't her husband. The second shooter I hired was recommended by Victoria, however, I'm pretty sure Jen Soares is not her husband. 2. Victoria could not have been more punctual. She showed up right on time and was an absolute delight to have with us on our wedding day. In face, she was a delight to work with from the very first email I sent to her. 3. I didn't even realize she was there capturing such breath taking photos while at Holy Name. Seriously, this was pretty much Victoria the whole day. Aside from the portraits/bridal party pics, I didn't even notice she was there. It's a gift of hers and one that is much appreciated if you've ever been to a wedding where you feel like you're surrounded by paparazzi. On top of it, if our engagement session is any indicator, I have no doubt that she captured a bajillion awesome moments in our day. 4. We didn't have a "private session" because Victoria is so awesome it didn't occur to me that we'd need to sit together in a room for 20 minutes for her to get good shots of the two of us together. She is laid back, easy going, and GETS HER JOB DONE without being pushy or in your face. Victoria is a consumate professional whom I have recommended time and again to my friends since hiring her last fall. The fact that someone feels so intimidated by her to steal my identity and post a fake review is a testament to how INCREDIBLY talented she is. When we got our engagment pictures (and our wedding previews) back I was like, "Wait, who's this amazingly beautiful girl in all our pictures?" It was ME!!!! She has a real gift here and is giving it away at a bargain price because she truly enjoys what she does. I can not recommend Victoria more. Victoria did an fantastic job at our wedding, she truly captured "moments" not just family portraits and such. You can tell right away that she is an experienced wedding photographer and has done many weddings and worked with various personalities/couples. I was in a very laid back "I'm just going to let the day happen" mode and Victoria did a great job of letting the bus driver know where we needed to be and directed my family/wedding party during the planned photo shots. She took the lead without being overbearing or anything (she is very easy going and easy to work with), she managed to wrangle in my goofy wedding party and capture some really great photos. I also let her know ahead of time that my husband and I take "awkward" photos and she did a nice job directing us without saying "hey, look like you love each other" - haha. Victoria is well organized, she sent out an easy questionnaire (all info that us as brides already have plus asks us our creative portrait locations), she also provides suggestions for places to shoot in case you're unsure or need ideas, which really helped. She also knew which sites were under construction. Shortly after the questionnaire she sends a detailed timeline for the day (which I and my wedding coordinator ended up using as a skeleton/basis for the overall timeline for the wedding party and vendors). My husband was really dubious when it came to wedding vendors (especially a photographer), but at the end of the night he thought the best part about Victoria was that we never knew she was there. Although given that we had hundreds of incredibly candid photos, she was able to capture intimate moments without being intrusive. We also loved that all our photos were online and downloadable, which in talking to other bride-friends isn't always the case with wedding photographers. I can't believe that I hadn't written a review on Victoria after our wedding, so I guess I'll need to make up for lost time. Victoria is an amazing photog, she has a great eye and is very unobtrusive which are two of the most important things in a wedding photographer. I feel lucky that we snagged her right on the cusp of her business really taking off because our rates were phenomenally good. I know she's a bit more pricey now but it's because she can show what amazing work that she does. She was right on time to both our engagement session and wedding. She totally rolled with the punches when I suggested we do our e-pics which we were ice skating and she got some awesome shots!! She works well with all the other vendors that I had and we received our photos in a very timely fashion, she even emailed us 3 sneak peeks at like 3 am after our wedding!! What else can I say? Victoria did an EXCELLENT job with our wedding photos. Our wedding venue (Salvage One) was an incredible place to take pictures, and we thought she took advantage of the space and got some really great shots. Besides the awesome photos, I liked her for three reasons: 1) Her prices were all listed on her website - Suprisingly, not a ton of places do this. There's already so much involved when planning a wedding, and calling around and keeping track of pricing and details for everything became a difficult task. With Yelp and the fact that her prices were listed on the site, at least the photographer selection was easy. 2) Her package came with expertly touched-up digital photos - This was very important to us and well worth it. She was more expensive to hire for the night than some of the other photographers I saw, but in the long run it was cheaper and so much more fun getting the photos digitally (she also uploaded them to a site from which we and our guests could view and order prints). My husband's family is from Ireland, so sharing with them was a breeze. We ordered a select few prints from her (which were also reasonably priced for professional prints), and the rest we got for 10 cents each at Walgreens! We were able to send packages of prints and DVDs of our favorite images to the wedding party, family, and friends for super cheap. It's also peace of mind knowing that we have the copywrite for all our photos and could get prints at our own pace, rather than having a deadline to order them. 3) We got the photos fairly quickly, in six weeks. It seemed like forever to wait at the time, but from what I've heard, this is extremely fast. I have friends who didn't get their photos until 3-9 months after their wedding!
