The book selection is thoughtfully designed with diversity and representation in mind. It truly amplifies voices that are often underrepresented. I appreciate the resources for immigrant advocacy materials, support and fundraisers. They also host many community workshops, like sewing, hair braiding, and open mic events. Community building and creating resources for empowerment is one component. It's definitely not just a book store but a pillar in the community by creating space where identities are uplifted.

We arrived and checked in with no trouble (please note registration is required for events). There was a few set ups for the kids and each kid will then choose their controller. They started the tournament and it was so fun seeing all the kids in action. The staff was so friendly and provided food & drinks. This Event was completely free no cost. This is an amazing store with so much to look at and so many books to choose from. They will be having a few more events and you guys definitely need to to join me and the kids have already signed up for their Dia De Los muertos workshop. Can't wait.

The outside of the store is very inconspicuous. However, you step into a world of enchantment! There's various sections of the store, laid out by holidays. There's dozens of trees with beautiful ornaments, collectibles galore and unique items. I could spend a fortune in here. My last visit was this past Saturday, and the older woman at the front could've been friendlier. My friends and I were laughing and the woman said, "can I help you" but the tone wasn't at all helpful, but more like, why are you here? It was uncomfortable. Love the huge sci-fi selection and even found some King books in the horror section too! My favorite purchase was a beautiful copy of Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea. 1990 Reader's Digest edition with illustrations and it couldn't be in better shape. If you aren't Hispanic, don't expect a greeting or to be welcomed when you come into the store. Language barrier is clear, but the energy is unwelcoming. Rebecca is AMAZING!…read more My high schooler is taking advantage of a program through LA Mission where she can take college classes that will count for both High School and towards an AA. But one of the books for her classes was not in stock. We spoke to Rebecca and only then realized that the purchase order for all of my daughter's books, though submitted, had not yet been received by the bookstore. Technically we should have been told, "So sorry, can't help you. Go home, wait for the P.O. to come through and then come back." But Rebecca was too good for that. She looked over the P.O. and confirmed that my daughter was a student. She then made a copy and said she'd take care of the paperwork for the three books that were in stock once the P.O. arrived and let she us take those home. She also took my name and number and called me 10 days later when the last book finally arrived. When I showed up to retrieve the book Rebecca was on the phone but recognized me, put the caller on mute for a second and directed me upstairs to the book. As I walked past her on my way down she handed me a note that helped speed up and simplify my checkout. Rebecca is absolutely amazing. She makes the bookstore and LA Mission a little bit sweeter. The world needs a lot more Rebeccas!
