I absolutely love this store! I first found Traditions on Instagram many years ago. Now, it's a must-visit location each time I'm in Los Angeles. The outside of the store is very inconspicuous. However, you step into a world of enchantment! There's various sections of the store, laid out by holidays. There's dozens of trees with beautiful ornaments, collectibles galore and unique items. I could spend a fortune in here. My last visit was this past Saturday, and the older woman at the front could've been friendlier. My friends and I were laughing and the woman said, "can I help you" but the tone wasn't at all helpful, but more like, why are you here? It was uncomfortable. The items are unique and are good quality - I decorate a small tree year round for different holidays and I even found enough appropriate ornaments for a Labor Day tree. The delivery has been timely, and the ornaments come well packed; none have been broken. If I think of yet another holiday for my tree, I will order from them again. I'm very disappointed in this shop, specifically because of the two women that were at the register. I have been here a few times, made excellent purchases and at times they allow you to purchase things on the floor, other ones they bring wrapped products. I placed items on the counter and informed the older lady I was still shopping and considering an item, however when I got to the front she had it wrapped. I wanted to show my spouse who didn't see the product and she rudely told me "go look at it over there, I am not unwrapping this". Which I found rude, because I had told her I was undecided. The second woman seemed bothered because she couldn't find one of my products in her inventory and then made discourteous comment when she was checking a price and said "someone is clearly dyslexic" and scoffed. She basically also gave her coworker (much older woman - might be related) an attitude about pricing the items. Overall cute store but the attitude is not warm or friendly. Maybe they're aiming to them the experience and scare people. Not returning, there are much better places, closer to me and friendlier. Pfffft! read more

I'm a big fan of Traditions. For one, I love their Halloween stuff, and while I'm gawking at black cats and ghosts, Jaime can have his time with Santa as they have a huge assortment of Christmas stuff to peruse as well. Even if those two holidays aren't your thing, they carry stuff year-round for Easter, Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, and everything in between. The store is pretty massive, so give yourself some time to navigate. Also, don't forget to make it to the back as that's where they have some great clearance and last chance buys at a discount as well! The ladies that run the store are fun and they pointed out some stuff that I had missed while walking around. NOTE: I drove all the way from Anaheim JUST TO SHOP HERE TODAY! =GA$$$ & 1.5 hour drive Everybody ELSE was nice and even "apologetic" from their facial expressions...HOWEVER, EXCEPT the owner/matriarch (I'm assuming that's who person is left to ring up customers; so she must be "the boss" if there's no other choice) is as cold, rude and unfriendly as possible-INTENTIONALLY And I am of the NICEST CUSTOMERS: imagine an angry jerk's response... My NUMEROUS DIRECT COMMENTS HAD ZERO EFFECT...ie: "This is a holiday store...why be so angry?...if you'd have told me you SWAP ITEMS I CHOSE with STOCK ITEMS FROM THE BACK that I have not seen or inspected; at least I'd know." Etc. Target doesn't do that! I mean, seriously. WORST OF ALL: she's slamming my items on the wood table out of anger that I dare spoke while "wrapping" them in old used scraps of paper. I was going to also buy a Christmas Snowglobe & Halloween Figurine totaling around $120; but no thanks. IF I DIDN'T DRIVE FROM ANAHEIM for this ridiculous experience, I would've walked right out. Cute ornaments that are extremely over-priced and very rude customer service. If you're looking for garlands, wreaths or any decorations other than ornaments, you won't find them here. Prices are inconsistent. I saw the exact same ornament priced at 10.99, 16.99 and 34.99. They were identical. The owner is not very nice and treats her store like a museum. You'd better not touch anything! We drove an hour to get there and it's not worth it. Small, unmarked shop in random industrial area, bad service, expensive and not kid-friendly. They'll follow your kid and spy on them and yell whenever they try to touch one of the hundreds of precious ornaments they have precariously hung around the store. The rest of the staff seem very disgruntled as well. No one smiles and answers questions with frustration. Will never be back. read more

My friend and I made the trek out here from Culver City. We decided it would be a fun outing and for some odd reason, I was in the mood to be festive. Traditions is a really cool place for a huge selection of Christmas ornaments.. as well as knick knacky decorations, collectibles and, for the Halloween enthusiast, a big ole Halloween area with a Halloween tree and oodles of decorations (now being that is was JUST Halloween, I am not sure that this stays Halloweeny all year or transforms into other holidays throughout the year.) Each tree has a bit of a theme to it... there was an Irish tree, a profession tree, pets, animals, Nutcracker, patriotic, avian, Santas, travel, tropical... all sorts of ornament goodness. Now, these are not your cheap-ass "20 for $5" ornaments, but rather lovely pieces that are well made and more heirloom then "change every year" type things. They have character and beauty that is not found in so many of the mass marketed department store ornaments. This place is a treat to just explore. The owners are a mother and daughter team (as I found out) and the mother is a sweetheart. She was fun to talk with, knew the products, the collectible artists and made it enjoyable. The daughter, who is in charge of the internet store, website and marketing, was perhaps having a bad day, but kept interrupting us to ask her mother questions about things. I totally get that you are busy, but do you REALLY have to interrupt a conversation when a customer is asking about items in the store? Without even an apology or acknowledgment that you are being quite rude? Not exactly endearing. My main recommendation to the store is weed out the old ornaments.. I almost picked up a "baby's first Christmas" for a friend... then noticed it said "Baby's First Christmas 2002" uhmm.. that needs to be gone. I then noticed a few more that were dated like that. If it is not the current year, get 'em outta there. The store also gets HUGE points for NOT playing Christmas music. The mother said they start after Thanksgiving, which I am totally cool with.. but it is first of November, so we were treated to regular, everyday music that probably encouraged us to stay longer and buy more. I totally recommend this place if you are looking for beautiful, well-made, unusual (there were some TRIPPY-TASTIC ornaments here) decorations... do NOT check this out if you want the same stuff you find in every other store. read more

This place is really called "Traditions" without the Christmas, and for good reason, they sell decorations for every holiday of the year! Yes, every holiday, imagine having a "holiday" tree where you could change the ornaments on it for each new holiday that comes up, that is a big part of what this store is about. Here are some of the themes that you will find! Christmas New Years St. Patrick's Day Halloween Valentines Day Thanksgiving Fourth of July Easter ...Even Football themed ornaments! The bulk of the stuff that you will find are ornaments, collectible figures (like Jim Shore designed items http://www.jimshore.com/content/), and those little miniatures where you can buy things like a Christmas themed house, post office, etc and grow it into a little town (that will take some $$$$ over time though). What I like the most about this place: 1) Their Halloween items are really awesome. Stuff you won't find in most Halloween stores, and while a little more expensive, are things you would keep pretty much forever. 2) The broad range of holiday themes they cover. Personally, the only drawback for me is that the majority of the ornaments are those glass ones (like this http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/GlbicGfT-2pXpizJG27BOA#bu3yWhpBcMzTkipJPCI15A) which I don't personally care for. For Christmas ornaments I prefer those wooden or handmade style of ornaments that you might find in places like Solvang. The location of the store is really odd. You have to drive up into an industrial type area of Canoga Park and drive around to what looks like the back of a factory building. Probably cheap rent though, so whatever works I guess. Tip: If you are heading out to do some shopping for the holidays, stop by the nearby and massive Topanga Mall for your shopping, and then swing by Traditions afterwards to check out some ornaments. read more

It's in a very industrial area and doesn't looks like you'd think. Parking lot and entrance are in the back. A very cool store. I was expecting all Christmas(it IS August now) but was very happy to find lots of Halloween too! Yay! There also was a little Easter, Patriotic and St. Patrick's Day! Many beautiful holiday trees were covered in ornaments. Fancy prices to go with. You know how you can pick up something and you might have a dollar value in your head before you see. I was surprised at many high prices. I was also attracted to many items that ended up being part of a set that couldn't be separated. I bought a couple Halloween items and was happy that the employee let me buy one pterodactyl ornament that seemed to be on it's own when the others were in a set. Came here for the first time the other day. Very cute store. I would have probably never have made it over here (since it's located in a more industrial area), but luckily I discovered it on instagram (@traditions_store) and decided to stop by. They have a TON of stuff in their store. Lots of Christmas stuff. Lots of Halloween stuff. They have other holiday items too. It was fun to walk around and look at everything for sure. I love their little Halloween villages. They have a lot of vintage type stuff. They have, I would say, more "cute" holiday items overall. If you take a look at their instagram page, it'll give you a good idea of what all they have in the store. If you get a chance, make a stop over to this place and check them out. I give this 1 Star because of how rude I was treated but as for the stores Items, I give it a 10. So today I went for the first time with my daughter and her boyfriend. I was super excited to see the Halloween section-and couldn't wait. It took us Over 1 hour to get there but once I arrived I was excited and couldn't wait to see all the amazing hand crafted items. There was an older woman at the counter and she seemed polite AT FIRST then I found a set of Candy Corn salt and pepper shakers and asked how much for the set, the lady said $10.00 I said okay I'll take them along with a couple of more items I purchased and spent $50. Once I paid, I had my bag and wanted to look once more before leaving just to make sure I didn't miss anything and on the floor there is a box filed with the Candy Corn salt and pepper shakers all for only $2.00 I went to her nicely and asked Excuse me I just bought these for $10.00 but in this box you have them for $2.00. I thought she was going to say oh because those are damaged so there marked down BUT instead she tells me very rudely I'm not gonna argue with you and takes them from my hand and walked to the register, and I said You don't need to get upset and she says I'm not getting upset cause it's not worth it and opens the register and gives me back $8.00 but rudely dosent even hand it to me she just puts it on the counter. I don't know why she got mad at me when I did nothing wrong. It just ruined the experience and was horrible after such a long travel there then coming back. My daughter told me in the car that she kept looking at her and her boyfriend and was making them feel like like they were going to take something. We're not those kinds of people nor do we look like those kinds of people. Funny how you can go into a shop happy and come out feeling the total Opposite all because of customer service. Later on I found out the Rude lady at the counter was Barbara THE BUSINESS OWNER! READ ALL REVIEW BEFORE JUMPING TO CONCLUSUONS: Alright so I'm giving this place 3 stars because they have by far the best decorations for any holiday. Halloween is when I went in and they have everything from tiny little haunted towns for your living room to giant scary ass ghouls, ghosts, etc. any shape any size. Haunted halo graphic framed portraits, silhouette scary floor mats, etc. Literally EVERYTHING! It's awesome. But here's the kicker and down side....this place is way way way way to over priced. And it SUCKS because they have the coolest shit I have ever seen for decorations. The prices really do ruin the overall experience. If you don't believe me, go in and see for yourself. A small plastic 12" skeleton will be almost $30. A lot of this stuff you can't and won't find anywhere else and that's what's really disappointing because if you don't have a heavy wallet or your not in the mood to spend well over $100+ on a couple good decorations...your stuck buying only a haunted cool floor mat for $25. People know about this place, but I think the over priced product is what is driving customers out the door (which is what I saw when I was there; people walking out empty handed). Maybe soon in the future the owners will change their custom pricing to more affordable numbers because I can almost guarantee they would be packed every day leading up to the holidays if their prices were a tad lower. Random little place that I found one afternoon after shopping at Costco, I pulled out of the lot & pulled over to eat my Costco dog, and parked in front of this place. I noticed all these great Halloween decorations, so I ventured in. WOW! This story is truly amazing inside. It's almost hard to take it all in. They have holiday trees for every season and ornaments for each one too....you gotta be into retro decorations or Christopher Radko to get it. The staff is extremely attentive. The prices are kinda high, but the items are more high end, then your usual holiday decorations, so they are keepers that would probably get passed down to your children, so the prices are worth it! read more

When I asked for the guest WiFi password Barbara was EXTREMELY RUDE to me. Questioning why I need the WiFi, ummm didn't realize it was a crime. Refused to give me their password and then got all angry. I'm like it says GUEST WIFI...so I assume it's for your guests. No reason to yell at a customer. Had I not been buying gifts for someone I'd have left. So fucking rude. You don't treat people like that that are spending hundreds of dollars in your store. Ridiculous. Edit: she is the owner. Just found this hidden gem in the valley. I've been looking for a place that carries vintage Halloween decorations and this place nailed it on the head!! So many beautiful items in here. Some things are expensive.. Yes, but it's nothing that you wouldn't pay at a boutique arts and crafts festival. You're paying for quality and craftsmanship. These guys have great customer service and huge selections! Traditions were one of the only stores online where I could find ornaments I needed (that were sold out). They said they'd inform me if they got any more in stock after I bought their last few up. And I just received an email from Ryan telling me they had more. The inventory of Halloween décor in this store is a delight, but, unfortunately, its customer service left something to be desired. I bought a large papier mache scarecrow which I thought was lighted. I saw one in bright light on the main floor, but when I saw another in the darkened backroom with a light inside I was sold! I unpacked it at home to discover there was no bulb, no socket, no cord; just a hole in the back for one. I thought it was a mistake and called Barbara right away. She explained that it does not come with a light. She apologized for forgetting to tell me that before the purchase and said I could get one from Home Depot or that she could sell me one for $8. Honestly, this was unsatisfactory: I had been disappointed, I drove many miles to visit the store, and I paid $180 for the item. I think Barbara should have mailed one to me free of charge as a courtesy. That is the standard of service I expect when paying full price for an expensive item without full disclosure. I get that Traditions is really a collector's resource and that charging the MSRP maintains a fuller selection of desirable items. People who collect are not averse to these prices, but I do expect a higher level of customer service to keep me coming back. read more

I do not recommend... While on vacation, my wife and I found an awesome Halloween decoration. My wife decided not to buy it since it was $200... As a surprise for our anniversary, I found a place on line (Traditions) that had the piece and I placed my order. Knowing that there may be additional shipping cost to get it mailed to me within 4-5 days, I requested shipping costs be sent to me. After (2) days without any correspondence, I called Traditions store to inquire about my purchase and expected delivery dates. The individual I talked to wasn't sure why my order still said pending so she handed me off to another lady. She informed me that if I waited till the weekend to ship my order, it would save me ~$20-$30; however, it would delay me receiving my order until Thursday, (3) days after I was hoping to get it. I said okay since id rather be a few days late and save myself a little money. So, Monday came, we celebrated and I gave my wife a card with an image of the gift. She was super excited but, I told her there was a delay on the shipping and she wouldn't receive it until later in the week. Today, I checked the status of the order and it said it was cancelled. WTF! I emailed Traditions and inquired why my order had been cancelled... I did not receive a response so I called the store later today. I again started talking with someone, this time a guy, and then I was quickly handed off to another lady. She informed me that she was just about to email me back and that my order had been cancelled since I never responded to their emails or answered their phone calls. I responded with "what emails?" and "what phone calls?". She informed me that they emailed me twice and tried calling. I again noted that that I hadn't received any correspondence from them and prior to this phone call I went through my emails spam and junk mails with no avail. The lady from Traditions continued to inform me that she sent the shipping information (which was going to run $180 if I wanted it expedited) however, since the email was sent a day after I was hoping to get the gift, she assumed I didn't want it anymore and she cancelled my order. $180 for shipping... why would expedited shipping be that much and why would you cancel an order on a customer who is already committing to a $200 decoration? I informed her that I talked to someone (who I thought was her but it wasn't) about my order and that I was supposed to receive it tomorrow (Thursday) per my last conversation with their store. She said that they couldn't do that but, if I still wanted the gift they could have it shipped out today and I would potentially receive it next Monday. This would run me ~$40 for shipping though. After I heard all of this, besides a few sarcastic comments from the lady, I confirmed cancellation of my order and told them I would try another online store. What a waste of time and effort...! No star rating for extremely poor and unprofessional customer service. We had parked our car back end first in the first parking space behind the store. When the back tires hit the tire stop, it also hit a metal faucet handle and put a hole in the back fender. When we went to explain what had happened to the owners (2 women), they accused us of lying and making up the story and one woman said "I don't care" and " how could you hit the wall" ( we never said "wall" - we said "faucet") and the other women said "why did you back in"? A lot people back The reason we did that is because it was very warm outside and we were protecting items in the back seat from too much sun. 1. The tire stop should be moved so that any car parked there doesn't get dented by the faucet 2. We were not there too demand that they pay for damages. We wanted them aware that this could happen. As it is one of these people video'd me the whole time and we had to repeatedly ask them to come outside to see what we were talking about. 3. They were both very rude, extremely defensive and hardly listened to us before rushing back to their store. For people who have been in business for 11 years, they have not learned how to handle customers in a professional and courteous manner. This is what they should have said - "We are so sorry that happened and we will definitely look into moving the tire stop so that doesn't happen again".
