My child has been attending Eyas for about 1.5 years now and I have only seen 2 teachers leave. With multiple teachers per class, kids find it easy to manage the minimal churn, if any. Every day our children spent at the school, we know was a day well spent where they learned many subjects, experimented, socialized with peers and were nurtured in a trusting and safe environment. The years of interactions with every staff member at the school and three children being educated in almost every classroom and teacher combination at KA Bellevue is the basis for my review. The school is fantastic. I can not imagine entrusting my children's early education to any other school. Every person I have interacted with starting at the top with Ms. Olive and Ms. Alyssa through staff and rounding out with the cook is simply phenomenal. They are professionals who care deeply about the education every student receives and the staff very much understand the trust and responsibility families place in them when they drop off their little ones on a daily basis. The education goes beyond a day care with a full STEM curriculum and daily mental and physical wellness activities. I am consistently impressed at the well rounded education and knowledge base this school has managed to instill in my children. No easy task. I also want to acknowledge that not every day is perfect and like any school there have been a few discussions I have had with staff when I have a comment or concern. Their door is always open for comments, questions and feedback at KA. The staff are always willing to hear my perspective, committing to and following through with speaking to all other stakeholders, and then following up with me to communicate what steps would be taken to address an issue. I want to leave this review with a personal story that has stuck with me. My second child has had recurring respiratory issues his entire life. The same day we started understanding from doctors how to treat his breathing issues we wanted to make sure we had an action plan at the school if my son were to get sick. After briefing the administration they immediately looped in appropriate teachers. Going above and beyond what was expected to raise awareness about the issue Ms. Alyssa went so far as to - after asking if I was okay with it - brief the ENTIRE staff on the situation in their recurring internal staff meetings. Simply put the staff view the children as part of their family. The curriculum is world class. The administration, the teachers, the school is incredible. I can not think of a more amazing place to entrust my children to grow and learn in their early years. Our son joined KA Bellevue mid November 2023 in the "Twos" classroom and just like any other kid,…read morehe cried a lot. Unfortunately both the teachers were busy attending other kids but the assistant director was there to console him all day. On the second day, he continued to cry most of the day but there was no one to console him as both the teachers were busy (one teacher in the changing room and the other nothing). From the third day onwards I had to call the front desk at least two times because during nap time all he wanted was his pacifier but no one cared to give him and he would continue to cry and ask. So I had call every single day for 2 weeks and ask them to give his pacifier. Secondly because he wasn't getting any attention at all, he would go and play with water and wet his clothes. This was in November- December and very cold. Instead of changing wet clothes, the teacher was forcing him to sleep in his wet clothes. I had to call again and ask them to change his clothes. His water bottle would be on the floor and everyone including the teachers will be moving with the feet but not pick it. He would stay thirsty for hours. How difficult is it to do your job for which you are being paid? By end of second week we decided to talk to the Director Alyssa and after the meeting, she promised that he will be taken care of. From the third week onwards, it seemed fine and he was included during play time but the change of clothes remain the same. He would be on his wet clothes for hours until I called the front desk and asked them to change. We realized he wasn't getting the type of care he should be getting and hence we decided to pull him out. We finally send them the withdrawal notice. Ofcourse we were asked why we decided to pull our son out when the teachers are being nice to him. We never saw our son happy while drop offs and pick ups. In terms of the curriculum, other than basic coloring there is no curriculum. Everyone is playing on their own. My son was being pushed to the floor by two other kids from his class but the teachers didn't care to stop them. He would cry but the teachers didn't even bother. On his last day (which was also his 2nd birthday) we decided to send him so that he can celebrate his birthday with other kids and also it was his last day. I was told that they celebrate his birthday after the nap hours. So I turned on the video to see what he was doing around 3:30pm and see most of the kids sitting and waiting for the cake. In the meantime, another kid sitting next to him bites my son 3 times and the teacher didn't pay much attention. After 2/3minutes, they realized it was swollen, they gave him ice cream pack and made him sit with it. This was his Birthday present from the school. After which we immediately rushed to the center and the teachers didn't care to inform us. When asked what happened, one of the teacher casually said his friend accidentally bit him but they have applied ice it's fine. Then I asked about the incident report, she said she will send along with the daily report which I never received. If I am not wrong, the incident report is presented to both the family for signature but in this case there was nothing. There have been times when he tried to tell us about 'Time out' but didn't take it seriously but then one day he said because he plays with water, the teacher gave him time out in the dark. He kept saying "I am scared in dark" to us but we never thought this is what happened to him. We are glad to have pulled him out of there. . Is KA reliable? The answer is NO. Is it a good place for kids to learn anything? Of course NOT because there is no curriculum. This entire 1.5months was horrible.

To be fair, my daughter's teacher was fabulous, so there may be hope should you decide to place your children here. My son's teacher was (IMO) horrid! To start with, she is a mother who has a nanny take care of her children so she can work at the school. I find that incredibly odd. I cannot see how a preschool teachers salary can be valuable enough to offset the cost of a full-time nanny. At any rate - our son was overheard using a "potty word" and the school let us know. We disciplined him, told him it was inappropriate, etc. Well, a few weeks later, the school called my wife and I in to have a meeting. They stated in the meeting that another 5 year old heard our sone say the "F" word. The teacher questioned my son, and cohersed him into admitting he did say a bad word. ((side note - during the entire meeting, the teacher did not speak, make eye contact, or engage in the meeting. We were speaking to the director and the associate pastor of the church.)) The staff went on to explain that bad words were not acceptable, and if he were to get a "third strike", the school would expell him. When I asked if the school saw fit to work with a child, and be accepting and forgiving, they said "no" and that bad words were NEVER tolerated and they felt strong in their desire to expell children who use these words. WOW! A christian school that isn't able to forgive, teach and nurture... odd... Furthermore, they stated that our son was in need of a special observation to see "what his issues were". The state would pay for the observation. We declined. We then moved back to Noah's Ark, and immediately saw our son flourish! He loved school, loved the teachers and the teachers loved him. When we asked (many times) if he was "challenging" or "naughty" - the answer was no. Look, I don't want to seem like our kid is bad and we are naive. We have shared this story (in greater detail) with many families and they are all appauled at the schools position. In fact, many of the families are members of this church and were begging us to let them speak to the churches board of directors. Our son never physically threatened another child, never hit, never endangered anyone. He used bad language, twice, and the school felt this was something they could not handle. I find this very odd, as we are PAYING them to teach our kids right from wrong.

From our very first tour, we were struck by the professionalism and warmth of the school director -- organized, thoughtful, and immediately welcoming. The teachers carried that same spirit throughout the year. Our daughter's teachers, Ms. Maple and Ms. Tristen, were truly exceptional. Our daughter learned so much and genuinely thrived -- by the end of the year she could out-quiz her elementary-school-aged brother on world geography! The curriculum let her choose her own projects and go deep into each subject, which made learning feel meaningful and self-directed. We also deeply appreciated how warmly the teachers and families welcomed us, despite having no personal connection to Japanese culture. We got to experience traditions like Hinamatsuri alongside families who made us feel like we belonged. The food deserves its own mention. Every morning we walked in to the smell of freshly made Japanese food -- homemade, seasonal, and genuinely delicious. Our daughter's palate grew so much that year. (Her current school's lunch, by contrast, has us packing her meals daily -- nothing compares!) If we had stayed in Seattle, we would have continued to send our daughter into kindergarten. We are so grateful for the year we had there. And in our daughter's own words: "I had an amazing time with you! I wish I could be there right now. Pikake is the best preschool " -- said everything.

The teachers and staff are knowledgeable and caring, they go above and beyond for all the children. The school and staff worked very hard through lockdown and the covid pandemic to offer a safe and nurturing environment for all the children. Pikake School has continuously added new features for children safety, like a new padded astro turf area on the playground. My child loves it and tells me about it every day! It brings my heart great joy to hear about all of the wonderful and positive things my child experiences throughout the year... things like the Reptile Man, meet and greets with Fire Fighters and Police Officers. They even had a visit from Santa during Christmas! We are so happy that we found Pikake School, the director, teachers and staff strive to provide the most loving and nurturing environment for all children. The school has a very low student to teacher ratio. The school also has a multi-year rotating curriculum, so if you send your kid for more than one year they will be learning something new the following year. We've tried larger and fancier Montessori schools in the past with our oldest kid. We were sad that we didn't discover this gem of a school earlier.
