When we realized my wedding shower guest list was getting larger than a house would accomodate, someone recommended the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church as a venue. Although it seemed a bit weird to have a bridal shower in a church, it's not like we were planning on having strippers or even alcohol anyways. The price was reasonable and I was happy to find out that, unlike my wedding reception venue, renting the kitchen was reasonably priced and included use of all equipment and dishes within it, no extra charges for using cups or plates. The room itself was fairly roomy and had tables and chairs, we ended up with about 20-30 guests and could have fit many more comfortably. The kitchen was spacious and equipped with sinks, coffee maker, dishwasher, fridge, etc. The area was easily accesible for the elderly, with no stairs. We realized belatedly that there were separate rooms, a meeting room and a kids activity room, that we could have potentially used to keep the husbands occupied during the shower. The guests seemed to enjoy themselves and my Maid of Honor and I were happy with the venue, and the price was good, so overall I would say that if you do not feel awkward having your bridal shower or other event in a church, I would recommend Emmanuel Presbyterian. read more
