If you want to sleep in weekend mornings, the Decatur Farmers Market is for you. It's open weekly…read moreon Wednesdays, rain or shine, from 4 PM to 7 PM. This year, it operates from March 31 to November 17. I admit, it is more tiny than huge (perhaps around 15 vendors with roughly 2-3 selling produce), but it's worth visiting! Unlike some markets where you have to scavenge for parking in the nearby neighborhoods, the parking situation is exceptional since there's a giant lot right next to the venue which is First Baptist Church. This church happens to be quite near downtown Decatur in case you want to go there after or before. I believe all vendors accept credit cards but cash seems to be warmly welcomed at most or all businesses. Since there's a lush lawn in front of the church, it's a kid magnet and prime picnic spot; you can grab a snack or dinner and just chill. Some of my favorite sellers include Snapfinger Farm, Galette, and Honey Next Door. Shop local!

The market is open year round with most vendors returning every week. There were a lot of gluten free vendors, fresh eggs, fresh vegetables, pickles vegetables, a mushroom vendor with different varieties of mushrooms, coffee, jewelry, everything! There is also free parking in designated areas. You can also buy prepared food from other vendors below. It's overall a very nice market. I don't go as often as I would like but if you are near the area or just like a good farmers market, give this one a try. It's also connected to a park so your kids can have a little fun while you explore.

There were maybe about 30 vendors with all sorts of goods up for grabs: produce, pastries, prepared foods, teas, housewares, stuff for pets, international cuisine, jewelry, soaps, and more. Most proprietors seemed to accept both cash and credit cards. They were all smiling and some even offered samples. The Avondale Estates Farmers Market is located in a roomy parking lot next to My Parents' Basement (also a neat spot). Speaking of parking, the official website for this market doesn't mention any parking options. It seems like attendees were just parking on the streets behind the market. It was wonderful weather out and overall a nice way to start of Mothers Day with my Mother.

It's only though ordering some goods from Root Baking to pick up that I discovered this organic weekly market. Morningside Farmers Market was set up in the parking lot of a tiny strip mall home to a running store. Parking in the neighborhood wasn't difficult at all. There were to my count, about eight vendor tents set up and two of them were produce-focused.  At the risk of sounding like a Portlandia character, I snagged some absolutely gorgeous radicchio from Diamond Hill and striking purple sweet potatoes from Sparta Gardens. The radicchio had leaves the hue of iceberg lettuce but they were speckled with magenta dots. Beautiful! And the sweet potatoes were deep purple both outside and inside!  You can place orders with Root a few days ahead of time to pick up. They also have some extra treats to choose from. The multigrain and sesame semolina breads were delightful and made excellent slices for sandwiches. For sweet stuff, their chocolate croissants can't be beat. Seriously.   Besides bread and veggies, other tents were hawking eggs, meats, honey, chocolate, and grains. Since the market wasn't too crowded, shoppers kept their distances, and everyone was wearing masks. The market is open from 8-11:30 AM Saturdays though some things were sold out already before I arrived. I'm glad I got to explore this cozy farmers market and definitely plan to return, hopefully on a warmer morning! ***NOTE: This market has moved to a new location. The market runs every Saturday from 8 AM to 12 PM and features a variety of local vendors offering fresh fruits, produce, and more. What really stood out to me were the flowers--especially the vibrant Celosia. I picked up two beautiful bouquets, along with some small sculptures and other goodies. Unfortunately, the rain started to pour, cutting my visit short. But I'm already looking forward to returning--especially for the flowers!

The uncle and auntie I normally see here have always kept it copacetic and professional. Sure, they're not gonna high-five you when you walk through the door or try to upsell you on anything. The vibe here is calm southern indifference -- they'll help you with what you need and get you on your way. Short, simple and sweet. I'm a small town South Georgia/North Florida girly and stopping into David's really brings some of that roadside nostalgia in my life (because let's face it, ATL is in the South but it isn't necessarily OF the south). The area it's in is kinda ironic as this is a country stand nestled in a very pretentious/expensive neighborhood, but it's also kinda on the edge of Tucker. Prices are sometimes higher due to its location and regular customer base. Grab peanuts. Grab produce. Grab jams. Grab breads. They're keeping the southern tradition alive in a city that is quickly leaving some of this history behind and for that they'll always have my business.

Was in the area decided to get a seeded watermelon but bought so much more. The fresh fish, all the foreign merch that's hard to find, the bakery pastries section! I love this place. So many options it's overwhelming. And they have cool items you can't get everywhere. And the prices I believe were great. My only issue is the customers/demographic/patrons. You will want to fight people in here! That's nothing against the store, but these people shopping are rude, crazy and insane. Lots of foreigners, etc. From the moment you walk in, it's like a relay mad dash to the merchandise. Literally almost got ran over twice and had to wait like I was at a red light for foot traffic to pass so I could go down an aisle! Absolute madness. I cant stand the people in there shopping and their obnoxious kids, but that in mind, mentally prepare, super cool place to grocery shop. It's out of my way, so I can't imagine when I'd be back but I highly recommend.

They also have utensils and some home goods items. Overall great price and selection of groceries. There is ample of free parking. They also have a loyalty program that offers one free item every Friday. They accept all major credit cards, cash, and ebt. They do not charge a processing fee for card transactions.
