You'll find jewelry, tea, iced coffee, Indian food bites, organic juices, natural peanut butters, massages, desserts, fresh fruits and veggies, and even a food truck. It's worth a stroll when you want to kill time, ride by in your bike or bring family or friends. Some take credit cards but you might want to bring cash too. The Green Market is A-OK. I thought that since this market occurs every Saturday in Piedmont Park that there would be more vendors present. Unfortunately, it only takes about a brisk 30-second walk to see all of the vendors (that I love to support), and then it ends. Ugh, there's so much potential for this market to be great! Most importantly, though, I think a market such as this one should have plentiful and local options for fruits and vegetables. I've only seen one stall sell vegetables and one sell peaches. Definitely need more. Helpful tidbits: -Enter through the west side of Piedmont Park. -Grab a cold coffee drink from Blue Donkey, to start your day. -Check out all of the awesome local vendors. Summertime is when the Piedmont Park Green Market hits its stride. June, July, and August are the best months to take an early morning stroll through the Market and pick up fresh farm produce from a multitude of different vendors. You can also get fresh brewed coffee, and two different bakery vendors offer just-baked breads and delicious pastries. Other offerings include local cheeses, organic pastas, and beautiful floral bouquets. This week also brought the first vendor offering home-grown Georgia peaches - get 'em while they last! read more

I want to give it 5 stars, I mean who wouldn't? It's Piedmont Park for the pete's sake, the best park in all of Atlanta. But even with the undisputed best park status, the Green Market is "meh" aight, or a-ok at best. LOCATION: The market is located at the Piedmont x 12th street entrance, basically across from the Skate Store and next to Wily's and Parq Pizza. FOOD/VENDORS: This is why the 2 stars are docked. The vendor selection varies from week to week, but usually there are only a few. I'm beginning to think its because we're in the middle of a healthy eating type neighborhood and Trader Joes is located on the other side of the park. But still, you would think there would be more folks. ACTIVITIES/ETC: They do have a kids area, which is awesome. And they are trying to start having more live music each week. So if you have an awesome band and want to play, you could probably definitely get a gig here. SUMMARY: I love the park, I love the green market. The vendor options wave, but there are some weekends where they have MANY super awesome vendors. 3.5/5 I hope to change to a 5/5 soon. read more

Went here this past Saturday and strolled around with a friend. This is not a big farmers market so that's something to know if you are looking for a variety of options. I was a little disappointed. The Green Market is open again! When my partner and I aren't having brunch, we usually come to the market and grab a whole lot of greens, desserts, and free samples. We always get an ice cold cup of Blue Donkey iced coffee to start our day. They have flavors like the original, light, four 65, almond, and raspberry, so make sure you sample them all before buying! I usually get mine half original and half four 65. So the original Blue Donkey iced coffee is the classic coffee, milk, and sugar and it is just truly satisfying. The four 65 is a little more stronger and darker than the original and it is equally as delicious as well, the reason why I just mix both. They actually sell them in bottles too at places like Whole Foods, and one time they gave us a few coupons for a free bottle! I've never encountered Seven Sisters Scones last year and I really regret not taking pictures of their amazing scones. These aren't those huge, triangle shaped scones at Starbucks. They're round and a little smaller than the size of your palms, but size doesn't matter cus they're so freaking awesome. My favorite is the white chocolate raspberry and the triple chocolate scone. Must try, must try. Pie Local was there and we bought ourself a strawberry rhubarb pie! Honestly, I didn't know what rhubarb was until I googled it and saw a picture. It kind of felt odd eating pink celery as a dessert, but I accidentally ended up eating it all in one sitting. OOPS. That says something about the pie. I knocked off a star because I wish they had more vendors and also because it gets heavily packed with all the people and the dogs and their leashes and baby strollers, etc. read more

I was excited to actually see this one in action now that I'm here in the morning for a work out. I was saddened to see that it was mostly breads, very little veggies, and lots of craft vendors instead of what I'd call a "green market". Maybe things just aren't in season yet, but I was far from impressed. Green implies plants... I saw more plant life in Death Valley than I did being sold here. Very lackluster. At least it's outdoors and there's something here in the first place, but if it's going to be a GREEN market, get more vendors selling vegetables in here! The AJC, some jewelry, and loaves of bread do not count as getting my locally grown shopping in for the week, sorry. While this isn't my favorite farmers market to shop for fresh local veggies, it is my favorite for their fabulous Saturday chefs demos. Every week they have a different chef come in and do a demo and after, you get to eat what they made. I always pray for lots of food and little people so that I can grub away on the delicious food. I have seen lots of notable local chefs here including Carvel Gould of Canoe, Michael Tuohy formerly of Woodfire Grill. You even get their recipes after the demo. In 2010, it looks like there are less local chef demos and more Kaiser Permanente healthy eating demos, but I still see that Shaun Doty and our favorite red-bearded Yukon Cornelius lookalike Kevin Gillespie have demos scheduled. read more

I usually get here around 10 or 11 AM, and the place is buzzing. I love the live music, and it's a great way to spend part of your Saturday morning. There aren't a ton of vendors, and the prices are a little high. However, it's really convenient, and it's fun to talk to the people who bring their food in. Usually you can get a few recipe tips if you buy something. A big plus is that the market runs almost all year (March through December). There's one man from Duluth who always brings Sweet Pepper Jelly, which I think is my favorite thing to put on anything. La Calavera Bakery also has a good selection of bread loaves, but you have to get there by about 11 for full selection. read more

If you're driving here from far away to do your weekly grocery shopping, you're going to be disappointed. However, if you're strolling over on a lazy and gorgeous Saturday morning, picking up a fantastic iced coffee from Blue Donkey Iced Coffee, noshing on a sun-warmed spinach and feta pie from Pie Shop, and meandering amidst the stalls selling herbs and cheeses and crafts and woodfired pizzas and more bread that you can imagine, it turns out to be a pretty fantastic way to start the weekend. I look at it as a bonus when I can find some nice farm-grown eggplant or some heirloom tomatoes, rather than as a replacement for Publix. Thankfully, the vendors seem to vary wildly from week to week. When I stopped by in July, there were maybe two produce/farm stands, but in mid-August, there were nearly a dozen. So, if you have one bad experience, don't let it deter you from this neighborhood gem, as each week there seem to be new surprises. The easiest way to find the market is to enter Piedmont Park from the gates at 12th and Piedmont, and unlike some markets where the good stuff sells out early, the selection here seems pretty good throughout all open hours. read more

The important thing to know about this market is that it isn't a big collection of stalls selling fresh fruits and vegetables - it's a small collection of stalls mostly selling other products. There are some fruits and vegetables (maybe one or two stalls) and fresh Georgia peaches, but mostly you'll find prepared foods, coffee, and non-food items for sale. It's still a cute little market worth visiting (plus, you can combine it with a nice walk around Piedmont Park!), but not the place to do your weekly fresh food shopping. read more

When green Market Season opens I know i can look forward to 3 seasons of fresh food and fun Saturday mornings. I love this market because, unlike the many other markets in Atlanta- It's not in a parking lot. Nothing says happy and healthy like a morning in the park. The produce available is reflective of the growing season, and so are the chef demos. The free samples made by awesome chefs (I saw Kevin Gillespie there last year!) are a huge attraction, plus there's always local music. Shopping outdoors in a local park in the fresh air to live music totally beats the super Market. Green market makes me love living in Altlanta so much more. Yay for Saturdays! read more

This is a farmer's market? More like a small collection of supposedly local farmers that dish out the leftovers. I am completely unimpressed and the fact that it's in Piedmont Park is probably the only reason why it gets press. Most of the stands have little to do with farming and more to do with natural cosmetics. Way too many corporate-tied stands as well. Blue Donkey Coffee is not only incredibly well made, but the people who work there are so kind and happy. They came to my school's farmers market and when I couldnt pay with my id, they gave it to me for free saying "spread the coffee love". They made my day and the coffee was divine :) read more

Saw the disappointed reviews, but decided to give it a try anyway. I was riding off Scott K.'s review, hoping I could get some great quality food for low prices (cutting out the middleman, you know). This was not a farmer's market. This was an Organic Foods boutique. $2 for a single, small cucumber; $6 for six ounces of blackberries, $8 for a dozen eggs. My boyfriend and I went up and down the twenty or so vendors (WAY less than was listed on the site), but couldn't find anything worth buying. Since we were halfway to Trader Joe's, we just went there--lower prices for more, still environmentally conscious, and they still carry certified organics. We got there at 9 and our trip back through happened at about 11, so we weren't really missing anything. It's the dead center of summer so I don't know what went wrong. We were both looking forward to supporting local businesses, but not if they're going to gouge prices for the "organic" trend. It was fun to walk through, though; lots of people with dogs, friendly conversation. The vendors are for the most part really friendly and say hi to you if you walk by. We might move our grocery trips through there anyway, just because it's fun to look around. read more
