I will try not to be too long-winded but I must be honest and thorough. I brought my dad here 2 weeks ago due to him feeling as though he may have had a stroke. We made it to the ER at roughly 5:30PM. He was seen in Imaging within 2 min of walking in. After x-rays and CT scans, it was determined he did not have a stroke or heart attack. We were moved to the ER holding area where we were seated in what they call "stalls". The ER Doctor finally comes through and asks a series of questions about heart history. He later tells us he could not go home due to a low heart rate. So we were moved to an actual room at 2:30 AM. Yes, we arrived at 5:30PM! We were exhausted Finally got a room on the main floor. It took 4 days for them to confirm it was Heart Disease. The nurses and techs were nice but some did not come in until an hour or so after their shift. As you know they're working 12hr shifts. Understand they're to get vitals throughout the night but the way they barged into the room with the carts was disrespectful. Mind you they're coming in every 2 hours or so. Communication was very poor. I found myself running behind them for answers. As I stated before it took 4 days before we knew what was causing his kidneys to collapse. I am my dad's point of contact but the nurses and techs were discussing my dad's condition with his siblings. I informed them several times that they are not to discuss any information with them. I guess HIPAA did not matter It was later discovered he was allergic to the CHG wipes. He had a very bad allergic reaction. The nurse was called she looked at us as though she did not understand. I asked that something be done right away. She noted she would contact the doctor The tech came in stated this was unacceptable and that the head nurse should be contacted. The head nurse requested ointment and Benadryl. The nurse had my dad waiting until the 2nd shift came in. If the head nurse had not been notified, the allergic reaction could have been worse I would like to commend the techs Candace, Shelly Ann, Davina, and Heather. They were very attentive and kind. I would like to commend the following nurses: Lillian and Brandon. They were very professional, caring, knowledgeable, and attentive. Very proactive! Emory has taken over Houston Medical Center but it's like they have the name Emory but the work product is not Emory standards. It's NOTHING like Emory in Atlanta This hospital has a long way to go. The Most Disappointing Hospital Experience I Have Ever Had with My Daughter. My daughter has type one diabetes, and occasionally, she experiences diabetic ketoacidosis. The symptoms include high blood sugar, extreme fatigue, severe difficulty speaking or walking, and frequent vomiting of food or drink. We decided to seek treatment at Emory Hospital because our parents had used it, and we had heard positive feedback. Regrettably, that was the golden era of the past. Upon arrival at 2:00 PM, we were left in the waiting area, with our daughter unable to walk or maintain food intake. Approximately an hour later, we were called back and had her temperature, blood pressure, and blood drawn, only to be returned to the waiting area. We spent another hour waiting, during which they attempted to insert an intravenous (IV) line. After five unsuccessful attempts and an additional attempt for a blood gas test in her wrist, we were placed in a hallway for an hour. They then decided that she required a computed tomography (CT) scan. I observed numerous individuals in the waiting room receiving CT scans during our stay. We were subsequently moved to the CT scan waiting area for two hours. Finally, they retrieved my daughter for her CT scan and directed her to a second waiting area for another hour. After the CT scan, we were returned to the waiting area. The lack of patient care was astonishing. The inadequate number of rooms and beds for their patients was unacceptable. After spending another two hours in the waiting area, I approached the window to inquire about the admission of my daughter. They informed me that admission was possible. When I asked about the time, they stated that they did not have any rooms or beds available. They explained that Emory Hospital in Atlanta was fully booked and could not transfer patients. Finally, I spoke with an individual who escorted us back to take my daughter's blood sugar and request that a physician assistant administer insulin. Upon our return, we were relieved that our daughter would be able to rest and move out of the wheelchair. However, our hopes were dashed when we discovered that there were no beds available. It is important to note that we were in a hospital setting. I have never experienced such a lack of medical attention or respect. We were assigned a room with a chair and a curtain that separated us from another patient. This limited our sitting area to approximately four feet. The lack of respect displayed towards us was appalling. Around midnight, my daughter requested to leave the hospital against medical advice. This incident further solidified our decision to seek care at any hospital other than Emory. Even a veterinary clinic, where pets receive more respect and attention. read more

This is the worst hospital I have been to! And I am a nurse and have lived all over the country. The care is abysmal, everything is blamed on them being new to the system & having new workflows. But shouldn't you already know how to give good care? We basically had to do everything for my mother-in-law. Admitted last year and several tests this year, the service and care have improved greatly compared to past experiences.

The one saving grace is that the majority of the staff was fairly kind. I came to the hospital via ambulance due to a fall and concerns of a concussion. I am currently writing this from the ER waiting room where I have been waiting for over 11 hours to get told by a doctor whether or not I have a concussion. The waiting room was basically a holding cell where people would get taken back for a brief time before being brought back in to wait on death row. There were multiple people who informed me they had been waiting 12 plus hours. The most frustrating part is that I know the doctors have my tests results finished as it has been sent to me through an email. However, I still can't leave without confirmation that I am cleared to work. Absolutely insane. read more

I was here at the end of March. I received excellent care in the ER. I did end up being admitted with COVID and the flu. During the entire stay - I think it was 5 days- I received excellent care from the Patient Care Techs, the RN's, the Respiratory Therapy department and the doctors. I could not have received better care in any other facility. I was so grateful. read more

People actively needing emergency treatment like my 2 year old daughter who we sat in the waiting from for 6 hours before being seen with a 101 fever and breathing problems to find out she had the flu ! sitting in that waiting room for hours putting everyone at risk. no circulation of air it was hot and there were no seats people throwing up actively next to me in wheelchairs . Shouldnt even give 1 star. Er was horrible the main nurse who took take of me should be fired. She wasn't fit to give enemas to farm animals. No compasion for scared and worried patients and family. Wife was in ER for a fall. X-ray and MRI showed no fractures. Chinese (female) Sent her home with Tylenol. Back in ER next day and nurse PA did x-rays, still no fractures. Said the only place to send her was Savanah Memorial hospital. 200 mile drive pain all the way. Memorial hospital found multiple pelvis fractures. Had surgery and is hopefully recovering. Did HMC not know how to read X-rays or MRI. Absolutely negligent on HMC part. This is the worst hospital in Georgia. Never go there if you want decent hospital care. Wish I could give them a -10 rating. read more

February 5th 2024 I went to Houston medical Care because my doctor sent me there for echo at the heart Institute. I got their registered and then I went back to the heart institute. The young lady called my name I got up and went back with her and her my paperwork she took me into the exam room. She asked me undress from the top and cover myself with a towel. And she entered the room she told me I can get on the bed and lie down but before I got on the bed to lay down. I looked at the sheets and the sheets were dirty. it looked like everybody she did an echo on last week on those sheets she never changed the Sheets. And the pillow had blonde hair on the pillow she put a pillowcase on top of that pillow instead of changing them because that's how people get definitely ill. I am asthmatic I'm a germaphobe. I told her she needed to change them. I'm a germaphobe. I'm not laying down. She said most of time we change them. since she's no every time you need to change those sheets that's nasty. I don't remember her name but I know she has a 12-year-old daughter and a 18 year old son and they live in Perry Georgia she know who she is. She was nice and kind of conversational but she rushed me to take my clothes off and put that Gown on. She would have never rushed anybody but ethnicity. It was all about the skin color. With the question she was asking me. But I'm this type of person I overlooked b*******. And when I left and got in my car I prayed for that whole hospital. I had asked her twice to give myself a minute to let me get my clothes off to put that gown on. l give me a few seconds she constantl y back and forth. Asking me you ready over 2 times give me some time to get my shirt off and my bra. The irritated me so bad I can't understand it. But I had to step back and step out of my frame and think about what was happening. But I won't really say what happened but I can say that if someone deep down in her she just didn't like brown people but I don't even know the lady didn't want to know. That explains why the hospital is so empty along with the two 1/2 star way they treat people. I will be telling my doctor I would not be going there for any test at all. But it's okay I'll be moving back to Atlanta soon my experience here in Middle Georgia sucks! Heart institute tech you need to do better you could kill somebody with them dirty sheets you don't know what type of immune system they have. I've had two experiences with this hospital. My son was born here and the care was awesome. The room was very big and the levels of care and attentiveness were very high. Various medical staff came in to support us. They were all very cordial and respectful. at times we were a bit annoyed because staff is always in your room checking on you making it almost impossible to sleep more than an hour at a time. They were all there for legitimate reasons though. We felt well taken care of throughout labor and birth. We also felt confident in all of our healthcare staff. When we were finally able to eat, the food in the cafeteria downstairs was pretty good and reasonably priced! I highly recommend HMC specifically for prenatal care. My second experience was in the ER and basically it was the exact opposite. My son had a fever and a cough and we were there 4 hours before he even got swabbed for covid. And that only happened because I complained. Once they swabbed him, we were told that the results of the rapid test would take another hour. We were told by several staff that they did not know if anyone would call us. They won't even call you so you can wait in your car rather than the waiting room. We had enough and decided to leave to feed the baby and give him some baby Tylenol until his Pediatrician opened. After we arrived home, a CNA CALLED to tell us that they wanted to "medicate" our baby for his fever. This was almost 5 hours after we arrived. we had not spoken with a doctor in all that time and no one thought to prioritize my son's fever. We declined. I won't get into the details of what I observed but the operations here are very inefficient. I recommend avoiding the ER here if possible. read more

Worst hospital ever. Came in sick as a dog with high blood pressure & a high heart rate with a swollen stomach & low oxygen levels. They didn't take me serious until I started getting more & more lethargic and almost passed out on the stretcher. They rushed me into a trauma room where I was shaking cold & gave me fluids for starters.. the BP still didn't go down, the heart rate stayed high & so did my extreme stomach pain/swolleness. After 6-7 hours and a "failed CT scan" (they believed at first I had appendicitis) the doctor came in and told me they didn't know what was wrong with me... prescribed me high blood pressure to relieve my BP since the fluids didn't & released me on treated "symptoms" Worst experience ever. The doctor pretty much seemed uninterested after appendicitis wasn't the cause & didn't want to look at me any further. My signs and symptoms are leading my specialist to believe all along it is a tumor on my pituitary gland. read more

The staff I met were amazing towards me, but the doctor that came to see me doesn't know shit. She doesn't check anything and kept me there longer than actually ever needed. This happens to be one of the worse caring'est Hospital staff I've ever seen as a patient and a family member of a patient who was patient here. Here is the reason why I voted this Hospital one star is because some of the Hospital staff here especially the nurses and tech's act like they don't care what's so ever about they're patients. I am sorry but it's true. I will describe the attitude from some of the staff my mother was a patient there and she had a male nurse float from a different unit of the Hospital he was extremely lazy didn't want to do anything to help my mother at all and same with his tech she didn't even come and check on my mother. They had a patient there in the next room on the unit floor where my mother was admitted to and the gentleman who was the patient in the next acted like everyone was out to get him...He was extremely foul mouthed, rude, nasty. He starts early mornings, afternoons and late at night no matter what you're trying to do he goes off on people. We told the nurse they claim "They can't do nothing about the issue with him" When other patients and family members were also complaining about it as well. That is how loud and obnoxious this guy was to people even to staff members. If you're going to have a patient who is rude and nasty to everyone around him make him understand he needs to quiet down and not just let him continue on during whatever time it is. It's very rude! Yes we told the staff about it and they were "Supposely" were going to tell the charge nurse about the issues but nothing was ever said and no one came in and asked about what is going on. The rooms are very small but not the orthopedic surgery floor. Wish they would improve on making the rooms bigger so other people can walk around in. The only rooms that have the bigger rooms are the Orthopedic surgery and ICU rooms which I understand the need for the rooms to be bigger. How are the doctors here at the Hospital? I can only speak about Dr. Jallad, Dr. Franco and Dr. Jenkins and Dr. Rihawi they're all great doctors and treated my mother with respect and honesty especially Dr. Jallad, Dr. Jenkins and Dr. Rihawi. read more

I have been a patient here MANY times so it's not just a one off. These people truly don't care. Today was the icing on the cake. I have been dealing with an infection all weekend. Today my heart started racing, dizzy, having issues breathing. I went to urgent care thinking it's just a medicine issue. The doc there transferred me by ambulance to Houston medical center. HMC immediately put me in the ER waiting room. 2 hours later nothing had been done. Not even blood work. Not anyone listening to my heart, nothing. I left. If things get bad again, I'll go to Macon. Will not be seen for 5-12 hours no updates, retesting, whether there's one patient or 50 they will not treat you in a timely manner. You will be in pain while listening to gossip, every single time the treatment is the same, you leave worse than when you came in, stressed, tired, hungry & not helped. Please go to another hospital if you care about your yourself& family seriously being treated & seen. The ratings are so low because these are all true experiences. This hospital is a detriment to the community & contributes to the deterioration of people's wellness. Doors should be closed if the business can't run efficiently. read more

What the fresh hell? I had to remind myself this is a first world country while sitting in this overcrowded ER! I have what appears to be a digital palmar thrombosis (a blood clot in my index finger.) This runs in my family and It's painful. I waited 2 days to see if it would get better, but the throbbing pain and inability to use my hand is a problem! The Robins AFB nurse line told me to go to the ER rather than wait the weekend to be examined. HUGE mistake! 1.) Major Privacy issue : The receptionist desk is completely enclosed by glass so patients have to speak loudly for them to hear- while the ENTIRE ER also hears the information! 2.) Complete disorganization. It was alarming the number of people who gave up & left. 3.) Zero social distancing. They had sick people sitting beside those with injuries. (some with COVID - we knew because they had to shout it to the receptionist.) 4.) one little bathroom for the ENTIRE, packed, ER. We saw people giving urine samples to the nurses as they stepped out of the bathroom. We saw people receiving IVs in the waiting room, blood work in the waiting room & vitals in the waiting room. Seriously? WTH?? Just about everyone waited for hours. One man was there for 7 hours! 5,) After 5 hours, a young lady called me to a small office behind the receptionist area. She was a PA. She had no idea what she was doing. She was clearly not comfortable with her job yet. She said "people don't get blood clots in the fingers." I had to explain that this runs in my family and yes, I promise people can get blood clots in their fingers, I frequently get broken blood vessels in my fingers, but have never had a clot, so just wanted to make sure that's what it was & that it didn't need to be removed right away. She left me in the room to ask the Dr who told her that I need to follow up with my PCM. She said they don't have an MRI or an ultrasound and they can't do anything for me. She offered to give me an XRay to check for a broken bone because she didn't want me to wait all that time for nothing. . I AGAIN explained that I didn't injure my finger at all. I just suddenly developed a spontaneous blood clot in my finger. It's painful, swollen, with a jelly bean sized, bluish, blood clot. She listened my heart through my sweater for a second, and listened to me breathe through my sweater for a second. They checked my vitals & discharged me. They didn't even examine my finger after waiting there for 5 hours! I would not have gone to the ER if I didn't believe it was a potential emergency. The first time we visited this ER was Sept 2021. my husband & I were rushed in an ambulance after a head- on collision. We received TERRIBLE care. They even failed to diagnose my husband's concussion. I was barely examined & we were there for 6 hours! Never again! We will research a better Hospital & ER. Even if I need to drive 2 hours, I will avoid this place! I've never experienced any medical facility as unacceptable as the Houston ER in Warner Robins. 2 tries was enough! read more

I was suppose to be discharged on Friday but was told there were transportation problems because I am being transported to a rehab center in Augusta Ga. i am soooo disappointed about how Houston Medical Center is handling giving information to families about the patients especially during this COVID virus flare. I called to find status or any kind of information about my mother who was admitted through the emergency room. It took me 5 times to call and still was not able to talk to the nurse who was taking care of my mom. They did not even ask for my number to call back...showing how inconsiderate and not caring environment of these staff. Front liners should also care for the panicking families of patients!!! THEY LIE !!! After going to Taylor in Hawkinsville which said they could not give me nothing for covid delta and being in pain and could hardly walk or breathe My Neice took me here. Here i was strapped to a gurney, ended up peeing on myself because no one would take me to the bathroom after calling out for 10 minutes, then they gave me a gown, put me in a chair in a room took my temp then falling out of the chair twice cause i was so exhausted and couldn't do much cause i could not eat or drink 3 days prior to all of this. After several hours sitting and lying on the floor they finally put me in a room and took x-rays and found I had a collapsed lung and the other wasn't far behind I passed out and woke with a tube down my throat and couldn't speak , after an additional 24hours in the er room they finally gave me one of my own which was better , Another 48hgours passed and they came in and told me i wasn't getting better , took me off the vent and told me i needed to call my relatives as there was nothing they could do , After i told my niece and others goodbye I had stated i shouldn't have got this cause i had the vaccine and had covid 1 , I guess the doctor overheard they put me back on the vent changed my meds from Amoxicillin to ivermectin drip and i got better , 2 days off the vent and they were trying to dismiss me and i said NO , they had diagnosed me with High Blood pressure , being diabetic, hypertension , hypoglycemia and my sugars were still above 400 and my BP was still high . They kept me only one additional day but in that time they had all of us to where we couldn't get out, so we talked through the walls like inmates, We all found out we had all had the vaccine but it didn't work with some of us but yet channels 13 was reporting that Houston medical stated that all patients that were in the hospitol had not been vaccinated which was a total lie. After i was released, I had to go right back in but at another hospital this time, The doctor there said i never should've been released because of all of what i was diagnosed with . Then on top when I got the bill my max out of pocket on insurance was 2500.00 for some reason they said I owe them 4000.00 and my insurance said they were not supposed to be charging for the extra . On top my long term disability has sent them money over a year ago for my records and they still havent sent those records and my long term disability stopped cause they didnt send those records . Now Im facing Bankrupcy cause if this hospitols lack of responseability . Looks like Im may have to file a malpractice lawsuit against this hospitol . read more

From the moment I arrived for my shoulder replacement I experienced the highest level of professional yet personal treatment! My first nurse Lee prepped me for the procedure and asked if a medical student could start my IV. I told her that I was a hard stick and that my last surgery required the ultrasound machine to locate a vein. Lee said okay so we will give him one attempt and then we will go for the ultrasound. Well, he got my IV started with one stick and we chatted about the fact that I had relatives who had gone to the same medical school in NC that he had attended. Dr. Hall the anesthesiologist then met with me and explained in detail that I was not going to be able to have a nerve block due to my autonomic dysfunction from MS, and the repercussions for pain management. Then it was off to the surgery by Dr. William Wiley and recovery which went perfectly! Next I was taken to the floor and put into the very capable and compassionate hands of my nurse Terri and my PCT Marilyn--a true dream team! They seemed to anticipate my needs and were ultra efficient. After being in the room a few hours, I had OT with Darnell and PT with Jay. These gentlemen were knowledgeable and helpful in my shoulder healing process, and extremely pleasant to work with! Shift change brought me the super sweet team of nurse Cynthia and PCT Aly. Cynthia was willing to work with me to stop using the higher powered pain medication and had such a wonderful personality. Aly was a bubbly, energetic young woman who made me smile and feel better just being around her. I don't remember the girl's name who took my blood in the middle of the night but I remember she didn't hurt me at all and she put a blanket over my son who was spending the night! So sweet! At the last shift change my nurse Shanell clearly showed that there is nothing but the highest level of professionalism among all the nurses at Houston Healthcare! I have had surgical procedures done at both Macon Navicent and Piedmont Macon, but my experience at Houston Healthcare was equal if not superior to them both. The ER personnel were great everyone from check in to the DRs., Nurses, Radiology Techs. Had an injury and the pain was treated. I had an allergic reaction to one of the pain meds so the dr rushed orders for steroids and Benadryl to counter the histamine release. The ER DR wasn't able to completely fix my injury so he consulted a specialist who told him to have me go to his office in the morning (12-31-18). So he sent me how with a follow up consult and strong pain medication to help fight the pain. Only giving 4 stars because I feel there is always room for improvement for instance the time it took to actually have a Dr pick my chart and actually come see me. The nurse came in and evaluated me and the went and to the Dr that he should really come see me as soon as he could and that expedited the Drs evaluation. I'm grateful for everyone's Hard work and attentiveness! read more

Go to Macon!!! This hospital has NO CLUE how to treat patients with dementia/Alzheimer's! My 80 year old mother fell at the memory care home and busted her lip. They had her taken by ambulance here. I met her up here. They got me back with her about 4:00. They had already done a CT scan. They then took her for x-rays, came in and Drew blood, all within the 1st hour. I thought they were doing good except asking questions my mom can't answer. Isn't there something in her chart to let them know? Results came back good on everything within the next hour. So they decided to give her a tetanus shot and hook her up to an IV. Ok, not sure about IV, but ok. Then they decide to get urine with a Cath (she is Not Happy). They haven't put a cold pack on her mouth or seemed to pay it any attention! I don't know, I guess you ignore what she came in for and run every test her insurance will pay for? Finally saw Dr at hour 4. He says all tests came back fine and goes to look at her mouth. She smacked his hand away so he left. Long time later nurse came in and was able to look at cut in mouth. They glued that hour 5. It is over hour 7 now. She is getting more and more agitated, but I guess they want to make sure there isn't a test in existence they can run before releasing her? I have to keep her in the bed. Keep her from ripping out her IV and taking blood pressure cuff/pulse ox meter off. They said they were going to give her a prescription for antibiotics. I asked if they can give her something for pain? Again, don't treat the obvious? I hate this hospital! Go north people! We always take our family to Macon when we have a choice. At least it feels like they give a crap and seem to run tests that make sense. And take into consideration the patients mental state. Still here at hour 8. Demanded they get her ready now! Waiting for them to release her. Will probably still be here at midnight. Never Again! read more

Spent 3 hours in ER(2HRS) in the waiting room. Facilities were dirty staff was slow and apathetic. Pain severity of patients was of little consequence. Was told it was state funded facility. If this is the precursor to gov run health care we are in trouble. I give it one star because at least they had security and the doors were open. I was born at Houston Medical Center on 11/11/1966, at the time it was called the Houston County Hospital, in the early 80' I worked security there with my Grandfather. That was when They took pride in their work, and when they cared about the patient regardless of the income. I went last night and sat about 4 1/2 hrs. in 3 different rooms for severe pain in my neck, jaw and ear. They did give me a shot of antibiotics which I needed. but they were going to give me a shot of Lidocaine in the mouth are for pain and run some tests. They brought in a little tool box, (Tackle box ) that said Dental box on it and had two vials of Lidocaine and two syringes on a small table. I sat and watched the medicine for 3 1/2 hrs waiting for someone to give me the shots. I did not come for pain medicine and told them I would like antibiotics, I didn't want to mask the pain but to heal the infection. I sat and watched the 5-6 staff in that section of the ER laugh, joke and watch the LSU v. Alabama football game. They had separated my wife and I (weird) but I went and asked another staff if she could sit with me and he said yes. After the 3 1/2 hrs of watching that box and hurting ( like a child sitting in front of a treat unable to touch it) so close to relief from the pain, but yet sooooo faaarr. After seeing two guy s that had insurance come after me get treated and leave, I finally left. The other two guys had pains. one a sciatic nerve and the other also had a pain, but I am not sure where. I am not saying their pain was worse or my pain was worse. But my pain level had my blood pressure up to 187 over 145, that's a little high. I took medicine for it and it did go down to 145 over 89. I give a poor review because they are slower than cold Molasses in the winter time. I could not sit there and look at the medicine I may have needed any longer. I am not sure if it was some sort of Psychological torture that they enjoyed. The funn7y thing is, I heard another guy hollering and cursing, so I got up to check To make sure their were no problems, My wife knows I try to help everyone. At first I thought the guy was a jerk, but he wasn't, he was with his child and they had no insurance. He left cursing for what appears to be, "Their lack of care and blatant unethical medical codes". I have found that many people just do not care, unless you have money. Used the online checking and was seen immediately. The nurse and PA was right behind me as I entered my room. Needed a CT scan which was performed quickly and I was in my way home much sooner than I expected! Great early morning experience! read more

I can't even give a star for the experience we had at the emergency room tonight (although I had to give it at least one star because it made me). This was the worst experience I have ever had in a hospital. The lady with the brownish blondish hair shows no compassion or concern for any patients that are checking in. My husband was there for a very serious condition that only got worse as he sat in the waiting room for over 5 hours! My child's pediatrician can get results faster than this so called emergency room. They need to get it together and figure out what they are doing. All the patients kept going in and out and would have to wait in the waiting room. I have never in my life seen so much unprofessionalism as I saw tonight. A patient could be dying in the waiting room and they wouldn't know it. I am extremely disappointed and if I ever have to go to the emergency room. I will find somewhere else to go! read more
