    3/24/26 FYI. Wife's favorites!!
    Lee D.

Time for an update. Wow, after reviewing my previous reviews, I am hard pressed to improve. Still our family's (my wife's) favorite empanada place. The name 'empanada' comes from the verb 'empanar,' meaning 'to wrap or coat in bread'. Quality/Quantity - We almost always end up ordering the EXACT same order almost every time. Beef'D Up - Generous portions! My favorite on this trip. Spicy Hen House - Chicken, not spicy at all this time, not even after putting the sauce on. Cinner - For Dessert - Cut and pasted from their website - "An empanada filled with apples, crumbled graham crackers, cinnamon and brown sugar. Drizzled with chocolate, caramel and powdered sugar." Actually, their sauces take it to the next level; make sure you try both the chimichurri and criolla sauces. Atmosphere - What a convenient location. When leaving Heavenly off of Ski Run, just drive straight to the marina and pick up a few empanadas!! Very small indoor and heated outdoor space, but we always take our to-go. Actually, they just expanded (3 summers ago) to the unit next door. Doubled the seating, thank you. But we still take ours to-go, lol. Open 7 days a week from 10am to 8pm. Free parking today, at times it can cost... And in the past, I believe it was like $6 per hour...? Service - Excellent. So friendly and welcoming. Price - $8.50 each + tax. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2012 and 2019 at this location. Are you sure you have been here only 5 years? It feels like we have been coming here for a long time... And congrats again on your expansion.

Who knew that South Lake Tahoe would have such an awesome empanada stop that was the perfect snack during a long day of driving? Empanadas are ordered a la carte and they had a variety of veggie friendly options. I went with the Namaste (eggplant, mushrooms, onions, bell peppers, and sun dried tomatoes) as the only vegan option and it was so, so worth it. The crispy empanada was fried to perfection and the house chimichurri sauce gave it an extra kick of flavor. Definitely glad that they offered a veggie option so I could experience these Argentinian flavors. Even though there were a few orders ahead, we did end up waiting 15-20 minutes for our individual empanadas so expect a bit of a delay (and be glad if it comes out sooner).

Service is pretty slow. Almost 30 minutes to get our food with no one before me waiting. I was there for Sunday lunch and it was not busy. Food was not bad but not good either. I ordered one beef and one chicken.

Scratch-made is the way to go, and this place makes fantastic empanadas. We tried the beef, corn, and dessert cinnamon apple. The beef had a rich, bold flavor and was filled generously with ground beef, making it a satisfying portion on its own. We didn't need any sauce for this one. The corn empanada paired perfectly with the chimichurri sauce, creating a great balance of flavor. The cinnamon apple was the largest of the three, packed with so many apples that they practically burst out of the crust. It was warm, sweet, and a perfect way to finish the meal. Pricing is fair and portions are generous. If you're looking for a fresh, scratch-made lunch or an easy snack, this spot is definitely worth trying.

    Plenty of beef filling!

Beef empanada was delicious! They make their own dough! We waited about 10 minutes but well worth the wait! The chimichurri was delicious as well!

Place was empty both times I went in. These empanadas are so good that when I came back up to Tahoe, I definitely wanted to go back and get more. Lots of room you can sit in and outside. I love these definitely a must try

A must visit each time I'm in S Lake Tahoe. The empanadas are made to order and they come out nice n hot. As shown in one of my pics, order 6 and get one free. My favorites are beef and the breakfast If you like empanadas, I highly recommend stopping in

Empanash is a South Lake Tahoe hidden gem! The empanadas were made fresh on the spot and wow they were delicious! My brother and his wife got the buy 6 get the 7th free (they decided to get one of each and said their favorites were the beef, spinach/cheese, and ham/cheese). I got the Beef'd Up and Henhouse (regular). The beef was my favorite - super flavorful and tender. The chicken was also delicious The crust was definitely home made dough and was hand rolled and stuffed. It had a great filling to crust ratio Just a warning.. these are hand made so it took time. We waited about 45 minutes for our order. So if you want something flavorful (and not a tourist trap) and are not starving/have to eat that second.. this place is worth the wait! Side note.. if you have kids - they have so many books, toys and puzzles while you wait. They also have a side room that offers more space

EEEEEPA!!!! These empanadas are absolutely DELICIOUS! If you come by or visit Lake Tahoe you must come and enjoy this delicious delicacy as it's home made and given with much love and appreciation! Martin tended to us with so much joy and happiness that it was contagious. MUCHÍSIMAS Gracias por compartir una sabrosa comida que llaga al ama

Phenomenal! I had this place for breakfast this morning and it blew me away. I ordered the chicken and beef empanada and were probably the best I ever had. 10/10. Thank you Empanash :)

Breakfast, Beef'd Up, Henhouse, Hammer, Popeye, Namaste
    Sarah C.

we ordered the Breakfast, Beef'd Up, Henhouse, Hammer, Popeye, and Namaste for pickup and they were still nice and warm and not too soggy. the chicken in henhouse was a bit dry but they were generous with the meat filling. I liked the hammer the best! we bought the Flan with Dulce de Leche in store, and unfortunately I wasn't a fan of its texture. I wish it was more smooth and soft, it had too many air bubbles and was too firm

I spotted the shopfront and its signage while driving down Lake Tahoe Blvd. That word "bakery"caught my sweet tooth's attention and off I go. The bakery is unassuming, and no frills. The gentleman at the counter was a man of few words. Kind and earnest. The various pan dulce sat so pretty within the glass cabinets. But there was no pricing. They had the pan dulce names clearly labeled though. Considering it was early afternoon, some items were scarce. But they still had enough variety to satisfy my sweet tooth. I bought some orejas (don't you dare say palmiers), polvorones (they're gorgeous tri colored happy looking butter cookies), conchas (soft bready center with sweet sugary, crisp top goodness), and butter cookies topped with shredded coconut. Everything tasted fresh and delicious, and looked so cheerful. It's a true panaderia where you take a tray and tongs and serve yourself by loading up the baked goodies onto your tray. You take the tray and tongs to the cashier to pay. They'll bag up everything for you. Another important thing to know is their payment policy. They take cash, Venmo, and Zelle. No Apple Pay nor plastic.

Shedcat was found, yep, in the shed Hannah was our waitress. It appeared to be a quiet day as when we walked in, we were the only patrons. Our meal was made up of fried brussels sprouts, grilled artichoke hearts and a pastrami sandwich. The food is prepared and made to order so it was delivered to us nice warm and freshly made. Scott, my dining partner, tried one of the IPAs on tap. I on the other hand tried their distilled vodka. They have two varieties one is a regular distilled vodka and the other is citrus. My personal liking was the citrus vodka. Our visit did not extend for longer than a couple hours in the Southlake Tahoe area. But if it did I do understand they have entertainment on Friday evenings along with many other events. Footnote! We were not in a hurry and were told around 6 minutes for our order (which seemed way too quick). It took about 20 minutes which, again, was absolutely fine because we were in no rush. The interior is very small with one table (3 seats) and a counter (2 seats). The business is attached to and run by the same people who own the Enchanted Forest. The decorations are fake ivy leaves and fake bark with moss on the walls and ceilings. Also, the fan in the Pastry shop looks like it has not been cleaned in 10 years. The employee handled dirty plates with the same gloved hand that he then used to continue making our food.
