Such a cute little cafe. When you walk in it feels very homey. It's small but there's a few tables in there. To order you just go to the counter and the menu is provided there. Find a table and they will bring you the food. They offer soups and salads, some appetizers, and Sandwiches. But they specialize in Empanadas. You can choose your fillings of meat or veggies. One empanada was good enough for me for some you might want two (for a meal). I love the sauces they serve as well, my personal favorite was the Chimichurri (which consisted of Fresh Chopped Parsley, Olive Oil, White Vinegar, Lemon Juice, Garlic, and Lots of Spices). I loved it! Last but not least they are not stingy with the fillings of the Empanadas. I had the ground beef, it was so juicy and hot (temp wise). Oh, the Empanadas are so cute, they put the Eid own little stamp on it. And each one is labeled with the type of protein you ordered (see photos). In this cafe, you can play board games while you wait for your food. They even have books and toys and all kinds of things to entertain yourself with. Time for an update. Wow, after reviewing my previous reviews, I am hard pressed to improve. Still our family's (my wife's) favorite empanada place. The name 'empanada' comes from the verb 'empanar,' meaning 'to wrap or coat in bread'. Quality/Quantity - We almost always end up ordering the EXACT same order almost every time. Beef'D Up - Generous portions! My favorite on this trip. Spicy Hen House - Chicken, not spicy at all this time, not even after putting the sauce on. Cinner - For Dessert - Cut and pasted from their website - "An empanada filled with apples, crumbled graham crackers, cinnamon and brown sugar. Drizzled with chocolate, caramel and powdered sugar." Actually, their sauces take it to the next level; make sure you try both the chimichurri and criolla sauces. Atmosphere - What a convenient location. When leaving Heavenly off of Ski Run, just drive straight to the marina and pick up a few empanadas!! Very small indoor and heated outdoor space, but we always take our to-go. Actually, they just expanded (3 summers ago) to the unit next door. Doubled the seating, thank you. But we still take ours to-go, lol. Open 7 days a week from 10am to 8pm. Who knew that South Lake Tahoe would have such an awesome empanada stop that was the perfect snack during a long day of driving? Empanadas are ordered a la carte and they had a variety of veggie friendly options. I went with the Namaste (eggplant, mushrooms, onions, bell peppers, and sun dried tomatoes) as the only vegan option and it was so, so worth it. The crispy empanada was fried to perfection and the house chimichurri sauce gave it an extra kick of flavor. Definitely glad that they offered a veggie option so I could experience these Argentinian flavors. Even though there were a few orders ahead, we did end up waiting 15-20 minutes for our individual empanadas so expect a bit of a delay (and be glad if it comes out sooner). read more

My family and I visited on a Friday evening, the service was very friendly and helpful. We ended up getting six empanadas, got 1 free. I do admit the empanadas are a bit pricey, but the portion sizes are generous. We got the beef, spicy chicken, namaste. Popeye and corn fed. Everything was flavorful and delicious! I enjoy the corn cheese and breakfast empanadas. Chimichurri is good too. However, service is slowww. First time I came, I said I wanted "a" breakfast one and he heard 8. Luckily, he verified but it wasn't that loud and it just seemed like there was a bit of a language barrier leading to many misunderstandings. At another visit I ordered the dulce de leche crepes, which they said would be about 15 min wait. The empanadas I ordered were 15 min.. the crepe was an hour! I had to check on it multiple times. They gave some pre-packaged cookie as an apology for the wait, but I was hella annoyed at that point and the cookie was a nice gesture but not enough. It's frustrating because I enjoy the food, but the wait times make me question coming back. My brother and his wife got the buy 6 get the 7th free (they decided to get one of each and said their favorites were the beef, spinach/cheese, and ham/cheese). Place is a hidden gem. Have to park near Hilton vacation club. It's in the same complex as Riva Grill. Place does have inside and outside seating. There is no customer bathroom. Empanadas are made fresh so took around 10 minutes, but very worth the wait! Tons of flavor in the ground beef and tomato bisque and the sauces added wonderful flavor. It is a small restaurant so only a few tables inside but there is also outdoor seating. We went up to the counter to order our food. I ordered the Popeye and Corn empanadas with the Golf sauce and Chimichurri (can get one sauce with each empanada which is great). For every 6 empanadas, you get another one free so my friends got 2 popeye, 1 corn, 1 beef'd up, 1 henhouse, 1 namaste, and 1 cinner. My friend also got the Zuppa Toscana soup. There was a connect four game that kept us busy while waiting for the food. All of us liked our empanadas. It was cute how Empanash was written on the empanadas! I really liked the sauces - my favorites were the Golf sauce and Criolla sauce. My friend enjoyed her Zuppa Toscana soup as well. When we got to the place, the owner was really nice and the service was great. We ordered to-go, churros, 1 beef'd up, 1 Henhouse, 2 hammer and 3 cinner. The owner actually said you get one Empanada for free after ordering 6 empanadas so we got an additional hammer empanada. He gave us chimichurri and an additional sauce for the hammer empanada. They were delicious and 100% worth it. The place has a lot of games for little kids, books, and it looks like they also host workshops every Tuesday for kids. Good experience and we would definitely come here again. The restaurant is in an area where you have to pay for parking. At the time of writing, the first half hour is free and then every hour after that is $4 (we arrived at 7pm). We came one hour before closing on a Wednesday and there weren't any other customers. So we were greeted promptly by a very friendly gentleman and our orders were ready in 15 minutes. Because of this, we didn't have to pay for parking! The food was delicious: with a nice golden crust and the amount of filling was plenty. I believe it was $8.50 per empanada. I would agree that one empanada is a snack while 2 would make a satisfying meal. Our favorite was the mozzarella and corn empanada. We only got savory empanadas, we have yet to try any sweet ones.
