Such a great experience at The Market on Main! I found this amazing spot on instagram from following Flourless Patisserie. I am gluten and dairy free and was so happy to find a place that is so delicious and can accommodate both. The entire vibe of this place is great. Very aesthetically pleasing and lots to enjoy. Right away one of the owners, Anthony, greeted me and was so friendly. He showed me around the store and pointed out some GF goodies. I appreciate how him and his wife are running the business together. I ordered a GF flatbread (Flourless Patisserie crust) with dairy free cheese & pepperoni. It was sooo delicious! Plus a GF butternut squash pasta & tomato bisque to go. Even my husband was a fan and he's not GF. As I waited for my order I walked my Dalmatians around downtown Placerville and when I returned back they were greeted and welcomed by Anthony. I will definitely bring friends here and look forward to enjoying more food & their wines! The selections looked incredible. read more

Such hospitality and flavor! Historical and inviting ambience. Will definitely be back! Had a lovely brunch date with my husband. I enjoyed the smoked turkey and waffle with house made bourbon butter and spicy honey. My husband loved the biscuits and gravy and mimosas. Everything was fresh and made to order with attention to detail. So fun to see a small business take pride and love in what they do. Best kept Placerville secret! Are here and got the chicken tacos which are labeled gluten free on their menu and the waitress assured me several times that they were gluten free after I told her I have celiacs diseases. Within 45 minutes of eating I got very sick so something in the tacos was definitely not gluten free. Very frustrating, do not recommend if you need to eat gluten free. read more

I just discovered this place about a week ago. Have eaten there twice & bought things to go. It's so cute! Love the decor! Local wines & good beer, plus delicious, fresh made dishes. Honestly I only came here because of the great reviews but wish we had checked out the other shops before committing. It was past 12 pm and they couldn't serve any of the lunch items (they talk up their gyros but don't serve them during lunch time?). Also not impressed with the indoor bagel toppings (saw a gross spinach leaf). Anyway, I regret coming here for our lunch and then walking by so many other better spots after that would have been better. Also it was expensive for what it was and the extra amount they charge for using CC was not clear from the beginning which I didn't like. read more

Absolutely love this place, I got the hard kombucha purple haze was super good and crisp. I also got the carnitas tacos (you can totally tell they're house smoked) along with the bbq chicken flatbread that was super delicious. Will definitely recommend and come back for more! Maybe try breakfast next time! The service was also amazing and we played the card games that they had while we waited. 10/10 experience read more

PHENOMENAL food and service. We were passing through Placerville and looking for a place that everyone in my family of 4 wanted to eat at. Stumbled upon the menu here at The Market on Main and it had something for everyone! They have gluten free and low carb options. Love this place for Sunday brunch!! Delicious, fresh bagel bar with soft fluffy bagels and all the fixins, fresh squeezed juices, cool and shaded patio, and nice people. I don't know why anyone would wait in a big line next door when this place is fast and perfect in every way? People are weird. We love this place. Ps. Tried this place for the first time today... I really need to go back and try their coffee (smelled delicious!) There is not a really large menu so be prepared for a small selection. They have a great location near the El Dorado Trail and downtown shopping - plus a very cute front patio to sit in... such great potential here. I tried an empanada and it was tasty. I was visiting family from out of town and wanted something good to eat. I seen the reviews on Yelp for The Market on Main and had to try it for myself. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and taste of their food. I ordered the Tuesday special, 2 Carnitas tostdas side of rice and beans with my choice of an ice cold draft for a fair price. This is exactly what main street needed. I love the atmosphere and Charissa provided friendly service. If you're in the area I would highly recommend swinging by to grab a bite. They also offer champagne and wine by the bottle along with pre-made meals to go. On my way out I purchased some of Betty's famous fudge for my mother and she said it's the best fudge she's ever had. I had driven by The Market on Main a few times & decided I must stop in! Located in an old house that used to be a yarn shop, it has been updated with a fresh new look. There is a nice outdoor area in front- perfect for people watching while you eat. The inside is beautifully done. There are only a few tables in The Market, so I am not sure how it would be if the weather wasn't good. The owners were there & we got to chat with them a bit. They are friendly and attentive. The food was fresh and delicious. We will definitely dine there again! read more

The barista was very patient and helpful, since we took a minute reviewing the menu. The space was large, I liked the big windows and plants. I also liked that it was on the quieter part of main street in Placerville, so parking was easy!

What a hidden gem in Placerville--seriously, this place might ruin all your future lunch plans (in the best way possible). My wife and I stopped in for lunch, mostly because we were feeling adventurous. And by "adventurous," I mean we wanted a break from the local cuisine rotation of... Mexican food, more Mexican food, pizza, and--just to keep things spicy--more pizza. (Hey, I love it all, but you get what I'm saying.) Then we found this place. Game changer. The menu is fantastic--like "how do I choose without ordering everything?" fantastic. The owners are incredibly welcoming, and the cook actually came out to talk with us about his passion for the food. The last time I saw that level of enthusiasm was from a surgeon after successfully removing my gallbladder. Same energy. Slightly different stakes. I had the BBQ chicken flatbread pizza and I'm not exaggerating when I say it was OUT OF THIS WORLD. If NASA needs new fuel sources, they should start here. My wife ordered the street tacos, and mid-bite she just looked at me and whispered, "More please." Not even a full sentence--just pure, taco-induced clarity. Great food, amazing people, and a beautiful outdoor seating area that makes you want to stay way longer than you planned. Bottom line: You need to eat here. I recently visited The Market on Main and was blown away by the incredible food and friendly service. The empanada was a standout for me - it was so fresh and tasty that I had to ask the owner/chef about it. It turns out that it's an Argentinian empanada, which is different from any other I've had in the past. The dough is more like a pizza crust and it was simply amazing. The filling was perfectly seasoned and bursting with flavor. Another dish that I really enjoyed was the caprese. The sauce was delicious and extremely healthy, which is always a plus. I loved the combination of fresh tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil - it was the perfect light and refreshing dish. The owner/chef was incredibly friendly and passionate about his food, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The atmosphere inside The Market on Main is cozy and inviting, and it's clear that they take pride in sourcing the best ingredients. After being sat, we sat without talking to a server for 10+ minutes, not even getting waters. Eventually, when someone did come, it was a waitress/hostess telling us that there had been a mix up, and we needed to move. We weren't excited on the idea, as we were happy where we were, but we moved to the back of the restaurant. This time we sat for 15 minutes without being acknowledged by any wait staff. At this point it is 9:25 and we've been seated for 25 minutes without even water. Finally a waitress comes, and takes our drink order, and our food order as we'd definitely had ample time to look over the menu. About 9:50 the food arrives. My wife and kids' food comes and is great. My food comes and looks off, and the waitress tells me that the kitchen accidentally made me a "veggie" scramble instead of the chorizo that I had ordered, but that she'd get me some bacon and all was well. I asked what was in the veggie scramble and was told it has mushrooms, which is a hard pass for me. She told me she could have what I had actually ordered made but it would "take a long time". I said O.K. - what else was I going to do? Finally it comes, and my wife is done eating, and the kids are close, so, I asked for it to be "boxed up". The waitress rolled her eyes and set to the task. I'm not a restaurant snob - but I really expected an apology or something to be "comp'd" due to the rough experience, but nope, full bill and no apology. Regrettably, despite Franny's being a local joint and having good food, we won't be back.
