A charming little coffee shop with very unique offerings and the quality to match. Going in, you are first greeted by three menus: seasonal drinks, regular drinks, and food. On your way to the counter, you see the variety of loose leaf teas, coffee bags, and pastries all on display to tempt you from your initial choice. I ended up ordering the Golden Hour Cold Brew (cold brew with honey and orange cream on top) and the Chorizo Empanada (it even had chorizo stamped onto the shell). They were excellent, but couldn't go wrong with anything thing there from: ube waffles, empanadas, toasts, and more. TLDR: good drinks. Very loud. Cute. Drink: I ordered a Foggy Matcha with oat milk (~$7.50). It was delicious and while sweet, not cloying. Good amount of matcha which gave it a deep green color. I like my hot drinks to be hot hot and it was hot in the way hipster coffee shops make hot drinks (this is simply preferential). I did order my drink "for here" and it came in a paper cup, this may be policy or an oops I'm not sure. Atmosphere: welcoming, got a table with no wait. 5 tables are 4 person. 1 little window bar. 1 large table that's probably good for meeting people or a large group. Music way too loud for my preference. Hard to hear the person taking my order and had to double with the barista if it was my drink as I couldn't hear my name. The ube superfood waffle from here is HEAVENLY. The ube waffle is perfectly lightly crisped on the outside and moist on the inside. It also tasted absolutely delicious with a strong but not overwhelming ube flavor and the combination of toppings works really well. Literally the best meal I've had in recent memory and I will probably be thinking about it for several months to come. The ube waffle itself is vegan, and so are all the toppings except for honey but they can swap it out for maple syrup. The regular waffles however are not vegan I believe. The menu is clearly labelled for vegan/vegetarian/gluten free. The place is pretty busy, I came around 8:30am and was able to easily get a table but around 9am it started getting very crowded and many people were standing around waiting. There is one bathroom in the back. The inside is cute and they have some board games available. Staff were all very friendly. read more

Such a little Gem in South Lake Tahoe. Absolutely loved this coffee shop and consider it a must go while here! The food is delicious and the drinks are the absolute best! We came here multiple times during our stay in Tahoe and had a wonderful experience every time. One morning it was very busy because of a power outage. The staff were so kind and friendly making sure that every patron was taken care of. The atmosphere is calm and inviting. My kids loved the giant uno cards and played each time we went. The kids Cacao and steamed milk with honey and vanilla was delicious! I loved the Foggy match and the seasonal drinks. The chicken empanadas and all the waffles were delectable! Went here for the first time yesterday and was not impressed at all. The staff were rude and had attitudes. The cashier acted like he didnt want to take our orders and barely acknowledged us. There was a couple employees behind him having their own conversation and on their phones. The barista making the drinks didn't say a word to us when we grabbed our drinks or even acknowledge our existence. The barista was too busy giving attitude to a guest who had placed his plate at the pick up counter. I get it, theres dish tubs for the plates above the trash cans, but to go out of the way to give a guest attitude because they accidentally did something wrong is just poor behavior and terrible customer service. It takes max 30 seconds to remove the plate or to inform the guest of the correct place to put it. The coffee was terrible and tasted mid at best. the matcha was watered down and barely had any flavor. There is also a swastika carved into the table with the coffee bean resin center that looks like its been there a while. You'd think you want to get rid of something like that right away. Three Pines received the "Best of Tahoe" award but because of Three Pines, we started viewing that banner out front as a red flag for the rest of the trip for the rest of the places we went to. read more

Delicious and delightful! We went to Three Pines cafe twice during our overnight trip to Tahoe. Gorgeous cafe with a very relaxing and welcoming vibe. I loved the plant life and moss wall decor! Then, of course, there's the food and coffee. Everything we tried was delicious. The first visit we ordered an affogato and a cortado. The affogato was such a nice treat, and my husband enjoyed his affogato. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, and our orders came out in a timely manner. We went back for breakfast before we left Tahoe the next day, and their breakfast menu was really unique and tasty! They offered some different granola bowl options, empanadas with different fillings, and gluten free waffles! I would definitely recommend trying this place if you're in the area. An absolutely amazing find in South Lake Tahoe! This place has been voted locally as one of the best coffee shops and that is a well deserved title for sure! This seemed like a place that's super busy all the time- even when we visited mid morning on a Wednesday. We got in line and ordered an almond joy latte, a cold brew, an almond waffle, and grabbed a seat at an inside table. There is not much seating here- inside or out- especially for how busy they were. They have a pretty extensive menu but the few items we tried were incredible! The waffle was perfectly cooked and the fresh toppings made it great. That almond butter was killer. I love that they use a unique batter which limits junk and filler ingredients. The coffees were also great. What I loved most here was the vibes. I wish this place was a chain and had more locations that I could go to because I absolutely fell in love with it! They have a wide variety of different coffees and drinks on their menu as well as breakfast and lunch items. Everything that we tried was extremely fresh and made with fresh ingredients. I could've had 12 cups of this Matcha and it still wouldn't have been enough. Especially on a cold day like the day we went on that hot cup of Matcha really did hit the. It was creamy and smooth and had the perfect earthy taste without the chalkiness that Matcha sometimes has. They have different varieties of avocado toast, and the Mediterranean one had the best fresh ingredients that mesh so well together. They also had it on this thick multigrain slice of toast that was both crunchy but soft in the middle and I still dream about that toast to this day. The staff is extremely friendly and will give you their recommendations as well as ask you if you want any specifications on anything that you ordered. This café does also have ample seating, Wi-Fi, and board games. It is right on a walking path that surrounds Lake Tahoe so if you're ever in the area and going for a walk, I highly recommend stopping by here for a little treat! read more

Wow, super impressed. On vacation and my husband and I wanted good coffee and my son wanted an açaí bowl. We found Three pines and were happy they had so many GF options for my daughter. The vibe is super chill, so thoughtfully decorated with gorgeous color. The owner/manager(?) took our order and the staff was very attentive and kind. They had a water station which is perfect for my very thirsty, water loving family. Maybe it's silly to say, but even the water cups in lovely colors that felt good in my hand demonstrated the deliberate attention to detail that is present here. I was nervous because the line was long to order but we didn't wait long for our drinks and the food was timely without a big delay. Everyone loved what they got, and we're a tough crowd with two teens and a family of foodies.
