Went in for My second haircut here. I showed the guy a photo of what I wanted and he agreed that I would get the exact cut that I showed him in the photo. He then proceeded to cut my hair as if it were his first day in school. Worst haircut I've ever received. He then tells me, once all is said and done, that I had to pay $5 extra. The Barber I dont know their name , Did a terrible job with my hair i asked for taper he gave a hard skin fade, He used the shaver so hard i got red blood marks,Not only did he not know English, Even when i lightly scream stop before he cut chunk put of my hair he state "He stated NO , No its is GOod" i said no but he cut a big chunk out of my hair from the front,I do not recommend this barber unless by appointment with the other guys there. read more

Daniel is worth the wait if I didn't have kids. Fortunately, he takes appointments Thursday thru Saturday for an extra $5. Well worth it in my opinion since I have a 9 and 3 year old son. I wasn't sure of his work but we took the chance as I'm always on the the hunt for a stellar barber and that he is. About 25 mins for a high fade, clean cut. I am very cautious with my hair and only went to one barber for the past 11 years. But because of distance I had to try a new one. Which was a very scary process for me. But ever since I walked into Empire, I have been a regular customer, for the past two years. From the moment I walked into Empire, I felt welcomed. After that experience I have also started to take my 5 yr old there and he also felt very comfortable as the staff is extremely friendly & catering. The moment you walk in you will take notice that the place is well kept and clean. They have enough staff to keep the flow moving fairly quick as well. No matter what kind of style you are going for, I have noticed that the barbers are diverse in talent to do a great job. I personally go to Daniel but there are others in there that are very good as well. I definitely would suggest this spot to my friends and family. Dan is the best barber I've come across in Philly. I moved about 45 minutes away from the shop (I used to be a regular) and commuted about an hour yesterday (traffic) to go to him because I have an interview tomorrow. I can't risk someone messing up my hair (like so many people have closer to where I live.) I'm extremely picky about my cuts (everything in life, in reality) and since day one he's impressed - even giving me advice about how to style my hair. I think more barbers should do this since they are the professionals and sometimes we're going into a new style of hair uncertain and maybe even nervous. Also, a few years back he did a beautiful renovation to his place so even when you walk in it's nice on the eyes (good seating and TV to keep you pre-occupied during your wait.) There's a reason people line up and are willing to wait on a cut from this guy. Definite thumbs up. If you wanna look good for something important or just for the sake of looking good, Dan's your guy. read more

Nam is great. Great service along with a great cut. Nam didn't rush, he took his time and did an awesome job. I found my new barber.

Biggest waste of time. The first time I came here, nam, was on point, waited for about 10 mins, he cut hair very Well! The 2nd time I seen Danny, again very nice at what he does, the third time which was last night, both of them told me they were too busy to see me, ok I get it, I make an appointment today to see nam at 5 pm. I just walked out at 550 because I sat there as people went by as there appointment was set. A guy comes in with a 6pm appointment for Danny and he takes him 20 mins early instead of taking me after sitting there for almost an hour... no one in the place said a word to me. One man in the back offered to cut my hair when I got there but I've never seen him and decided not to... as a customer service worker for almost a decade this place has none.. skill wise they are good... customer service and basic deceny is nonexistent here... if your boys with someone i guess your good but I am not so I wasted an hr of my Saturday night for nothing. I live down the street but will never return. Phil's near Woodhaven movie theater is where I go now, 6 miles away because apparently empire does not want my practically 100 percent tip every time I go... read more
