The coach introduced me to the workout and checked in on my throughout the 50 minutes. Many of the members were very friendly, making it a point to say hi and check on me as a first timer. 2) Workout: I know their workouts change, but the one I went to at 4:30pm on a Thursday in May involved five different stations- boxing, weights, jumping, kettle balls, and a shuffle run. You line up behind a color dot based on the size of the weights you want to work with. For this workout, we went around the room six times- two starting with easier weights, two on medium, and two heavy. We spent 40 seconds at each station with 20 seconds to transition. It was a great workout and it kept my heart rate up. 3) Coach: She knew her workout and was super friendly and approachable. 4) Space: There's cubbies to keep your belongings, a drinking fountain, and restrooms. If you're looking for a community-minded gym with great coaches, I recommend MABabolic.

I then joined a few months later with a Black Friday deal as a way to add some variety to my lifting routine. I've done group classes like Elevate and Orange Theory and really prefer the MAD programming. I love that everyone is able to do the same workout but work at their own strength levels. The programming also isn't as intimidating as CrossFit or Olympic lifting. There's also a solid variety of dumbbell and kettlebell work mixed in with a variety of cardio machines to work on endurance. The class is fairly fast paced (in a good way) and before you know it you've completed a total body workout. I generally go in the evenings 2-3 days a week and on the weekend . I've had a chance to take classes with most of the coaches. My favorite coaches (and Carol! ) are the ones who give a gentle reminder of when it's appropriate to go up in weights for the day. I've been going to MAD for a little over six months and I'm happy to bring guests with me anytime I can because I love the workouts and members at H Street. I also love that Carol is so welcoming and takes the time to get to know members. Her attention to new and old members has gone a long way, several friends I've brought with me have commented on how personable she is. If you're looking for a new gym routine (beginner or advanced) I highly recommend giving MADabolic a try. Sign up for the 5 for 5 pass and try different coaches you won't regret it.

My only frustration was with the "free" trial class. I initially signed up expecting my first class to be complimentary, but when I arrived and they checked my ID, I was told I had to pay $15 because of the address listed on it. Navy Yard is actually the closest Orangetheory location to where I live--about 15 minutes away--and the address on my ID isn't even that far from the studio either. I understand having policies in place, but I didn't see anything during the sign-up process making this requirement clear. I was told I could provide something like a utility bill to verify my current address, but having to bring a utility bill just to qualify for a free trial fitness class feels a little excessive. Had the $15 charge been clearly disclosed beforehand, I wouldn't have been nearly as frustrated. Overall, the class itself was a really good experience. I just wish the free-trial requirements and potential fee had been communicated more clearly before I arrived.

At times, they offer 50 minute classes focused just on running or weights. My usual studio is the Capitol Hill one, but I pop into this location sometimes since it's close to my daughter's school. There's easy street parking nearby off of H Street NE. The staff and instructors are friendly and know what they are doing to help you maximize the workout. The layout of the gym is nice with treadmills in the back and then the rowers with weights in the front. There are water fountains inside and sweat towels in the lobby. Two restrooms kept clean and two shower rooms are in the back.

And Orangetheory is by far one of the most fun and effective workouts I've ever done. I've been to a couple of the instructors so far and they are all pretty good but I find Alex to be the most motivating. She plays the best music too! This studio is not quite as big as some of the other locations around here but if I can get on my favorite treadmill then I'm good to go! I can't wait for my next class!

I signed up online but I never…read morereceived an email to register for a class so I just called and was able to schedule a noon class for the next day. OT is in a prime location near Chinatown. There was an option to park in the garage - free for 90 mins (not sure if that's a first client deal or what) but the garage was full! I ended up paying for 2 hour street parking. I arrived thirty minutes early like I was instructed and filled out paperwork. They had lockers, two bathrooms, two showers. My friend and I were given towels and water. Lockers were available for free with their own lock also. Laura (I think) was her name - explained mostly everything we needed to know and our instructor Razi added in. As far as the class, you get a heart rate monitor to record your stats which show up on the tv screen in the workout room. It is a combination of interval training on the treadmill, rower, and lifting/ab work which the instructor navigates the class through for 55 minutes. We started on the rowers, then did lifting/abs, and ended with the treadmill! I burned 400 calories!! This class was more than amazing and Razi made us feel comfortable and checked up on us frequently. It was definitely hard and you have to push yourself to finish strong ! I would totally recommend this class and at lest try it for free ! The studio was clean and the workers were very nice!

Repeat client of Corey's…read more I first started with Corey in 2016 when I wanted to get in shape before having a baby. Now that time has passed after having my child, I was discussing with a girlfriend exercise classes to get us in shape. Of course I immediately thought of Corey. I reached out to him, he was quick to respond and we met up to discuss our goals. He is amazing and thorough and pushes you out of your comfort zone. I feel that I'm always doing a different workout routine every time I go to class. His food plan, he provides a lot of support and accountability. When you're struggling, he is always there to help you out if it's sticking to the food plan or your arms are struggling to do a shoulder press. It had been 3 years since I was working out with Corey and I was very out of shape but now I can run a mile without stopping to walk and complete the sets of the workout routines. And the best part about returning after 3 years was seeing some of the same faces; the reason why people keep going back is because it is the best workout class ever. You may hate your life while doing it but will certainly feel better afterwards. I highly recommend! And if you don't go to class, he will certainly call/text you. He takes the time to know you as a person, he'll cheer you on when you're struggling by name. If you're questioning whether or not to attend his program, DO IT!! You will not be disappointed.

The email address I was provided to cancel bounced back to me. If I try to login to my account to manually cancel, I get a pop up that requires me to enter into a year long contract at $299 per month. You cannot exit out of this pop-up without agreeing to the contract. Therefore I cannot even cancel my account on my own. The bank is now involved and if they cannot resolve the issue it's on to small claims court for the more than $2,000 I am owed. Yes, I should have gotten the bank involved sooner before this escalated, but Corey is a nice guy and I believed him when he repeatedly told me he would resolve the issue. Go for the training sessions, but be prepared to put a stop payment on Belin Fitness when you leave. Also be sure to save/document all of your conversations in writing (fortunately I have a text and email history) so you have backup for your bank and small claims court. For me, the 10lb I lost was not worth the $2,000+ or the hours I've now had to invest trying to clean up this mess.
