New to this town and wanted a manatee tattoo. Empire Tatoo was the first place we visited and Kelsey immediately made me feel welcome and listened to what I wanted. She suggested I check out everyone's work in the shop rather than than just trying to get the sell herself! Ultimately I still wanted her to give me my manatee tattoo and she was so patient while I kept making minor adjustments to what I wanted. She was so kind during the process and really everyone (including the owner, Adam) in the shop just had the best vibes and it was a very pleasant experience overall! Super cool and chill! Since the owner doesn't let my review on google. So I have gone here three times for different tattoos. I had my sons handprint done by Adam and i love it. I went and had a scar cover up on my hand with Houston and it is a beautiful tattoo. But yesterday 1/15/25 i had a garter belt tattoo done with Kelsey. It was about 2" longer than the actual stencil used (i had a copy of it and was able to see the difference). When it was done i saw it in a mirror roughly 3ish feet away and loved it at that time. I did not get any photos until AFTER i left the shop. When i was looking at the tattoo today 1/16/25 i saw there was some odd looking lines and messaged kelsey and she explained they were drop shadows that would fade over time. I felt a little uncomfortable with them, but understood I'm not a professional and left it at that. However when looking at the tattoo closely after showering today i saw there was some..differences that really bothered me. There is lines that don't connect all the way, the top of the tattoo there is a curve that doesn't look great up close (in my opinion), and some very jagged looking lines compared to the other side. I also see the "yellow" leaves are actually different colors compared to each side. I went in person and was told it's not going to match as it is supposed to look like lace. I didn't agree since the other side was smooth and the side i was referencing was not at all smooth lines. I asked for the tip back. The tip alone nothing else as i was uncomfortable with how much i tipped compared to what the actual work looks like when able to see it close and not just 3 feet away. I was waiting because Kelsey was going to get the tip back for me, and the owner Adam came over to "talk" to me. He said he was stepping in and they don't give money back. I was trying to explain everything that was wrong and he was saying "it's just swelling", and "oh it looks great". I felt chastised for being uncomfortable with how it was physically done. He proceeded to compare not giving me the tip back as "if you tip a waitress and come back the next day asking for the tip back because it made your stomach upset". However i feel differently as this was directly from the artist, i wasn't tipping based on service, but on how well the work was done. I felt humiliated as he was somewhat loud and left in tears. He said he could personally "fix" the issues i had with the tattoo when it's healed, but after how disappointed and humiliated i chose to not do so. I had two previous good experiences here, but this one really damaged how i view the shop (especially the owner) and won't be returning. The overall tattoo looks good from a distance away, unless close up where you can see the issues if you're within a foot of me. Oh and on instagram kelsey turned on disappearing messages and if a tattoo artist does that it's definitely a red sign especially because it was when it was when we were discussing what was wrong with the tattoo at the time. I however did get screenshots. In my opinion the "lace" Kelsey did actually looks like cheep fish nets and not lace as lace has shading on it and not just lines. Thankfully since this happened Ive had it fixed by someone else who actually made it look like lace and I'm now no longer self conscious every day because of this tattoo and how it looked. read more

Absolutely absolutely fantastic. Literally an all around great experience in this place at both locations I've followed them on the come up. This business has grown on its own and on a brand they seem to honor in that shop which is "treat people like humans"! Not once of the multiple times I've been in that place without my brain being active. The aroma of positive energy and the love it has in it can't be beat. Pricing has always been fair with the skill and education and dedication I've gotten on each piece on my skin. Along with the stimulating conversations I'd have to rate this shop one of most rare places you can come to and feel like you belong. Especially being an out of towner in this town!!
