I'm all for creativity but kids safety is not one to mess with. We ordered the 3 tier which comes with scones, cakes and sandwiches. Sounded great for £15. Little did we know it would come with 3 small slices of cake, 2 of which were overpowering with lemon and orange syrup.. 2 Undercooked scones crumbling away everytime I tried to butter them..and the smallest square shaped sandwiches I have ever seen which wouldn't even make up one whole sandwhich. Inside one was butter and cucumber, another with the slightest cream and salmon and another with egg. Oh and I wasn't given the pot of tea or coffee which was supposedly going to come with it. Instead I was given a cup of it rather than a pot. I'm really not that fussy but when the service was this bad I can't help but be so disappointed. They could have at least made a little more effort as it was Mother's Day.

They also sell some tasty pastries and light snacks. Their iced chocolate drink is tasty and they also sell milkshakes alongside the typical selection of coffees and teas. They also have indoor and outdoor seats and i expect in summer it would be a nice place to sit out and enjoy a drink. Overall a pleasant experience but hopefully the staff will cheer up in case i decide to pop in again.

This place is an old family bookstore that was then turned into a wonderful spot for afternoon tea {with still carrying on the feel and look of a quaint book shop}. Reservations are required since it is only large enough for two, maybe three seatings at a time. Once your party is seated, you will receive your menu and decide on the Tea menu that you desire {how many Teas, Sandwiches, Cakes and Scones - with a wide variety of each}. Would you prefer a Coffee, a Smoothie or a Salad? No worries, they have those options as well. Be sure to inform your host about any allergies as they can customize your tea settings based on any restrictions. The Hubs and I decided on the Tea For One - This included a pot of Earl Grey {or your tea of choice}, a selection of five Mini Tea Sandwiches which may vary {ours included Cream Cheese, Chive and Cucumber / Mature Cheddar and Chutney / Ham, Rocket and Red Onion Marmalade / Ham with Mayo, Mustard and Tomato / Chicken with Cucumber and Lemon Mayo Chutney}, Scones topped with a Delicious, Mouth-Watering Cream and Strawberry & Raspberry Jams as well as Lemon Cake and Mini Chocolate Eclairs. Each guest will also be served a deliciously tangy glass of lemonade as a final sip for the afternoon. Every single bite and sip of tea was perfectly paired and the experience was a wonderful way to spend our last day in London with the family. The breakfast menu is simple but the quality of the core produce is way better than anything I've tasted nearby - to date. I've also experienced a number of poached egg disasters at restaurants recently, but these guys nailed it. Hallelujah for the soft warm yolky loveliness... The service was great too - young and friendly staff who were happy to serve and help. I didn't get to see the lunch menu so can't comment on this, but I was also intrigued to learn that Masterchef finalist Chris Georgiou uses this place for a gourmet burger night which takes place from Wednesday - Saturday called Gastronomical. We opted for the Mini Cream Tea which is priced at £6 person for which each person gets a fruited or plain scone which can be served either with butter and jam or clotted cream and jam. We had a choice of teas (or coffee) included in the price. Cups and saucers are vintage china, mismatched as this somehow makes it more "twee" but definitely NOT authentic Victorian (what good mannered Victorian lady would offer her guests mis-matched china?). Large pots of tea, milk in milk jugs and cubed sugar - exactly what you'd expect for a nice tea. What came next was a total disappointment, though! I can see why they called it "Mini" !!!! We four adults were each given a plate with a small scone (about the size of a boxed small bakewell tart!), two small glass containers, one with a spoonful of jam, one with a spoonful of cream - hardly generous portions! My granddaughters each wanted a slice of lemon drizzle cake which, at a cost of £3.95 per slice, I could've made a whole cake for that price! We've been to many tea rooms over the years and I can honestly say that the cream tea we had here was the most stingy I've ever experienced. The scone could be eaten in two mouthfuls. This venue is off the beaten track but I wouldn't advise you to rush to visit when there are tea rooms that are much better value.

And here comes the big disappointment...their clotted cream was not made in house, which meant that it was in a container and the cream was crusty on the top and liquidy underneath.
