Now before I begin, let me preface this and say that this is only my second time doing yoga. I am visiting Wilmington for work and my firm has a great relationship with the owner here so many of our employees come here. Four or my coworkers and I came for a 6 pm Vinyasa class. The class itself was in a heated room to around 98 degrees and lasted around 75 minutes. The staff were all really friendly and the facilities were clean. Matts and towels were available for rent for those that do not have their own. Vinyasa itself is a class that includes smooth transitions between poses and I definitely felt more used to them towards the end. As this is my second time doing yoga and the first time doing heated yoga, this will be my standard going forward. I have no issues with any of the instructions or the facilities. Everything came to $19.50 which is lower than the $20/class that I see on their website. I will definitely be coming back next time I am in the area. read more

Damn it's hot in here 106 degrees hot! I visited the first time last week with a very dear friend. I had to make a second trip after my first experience with hot yoga went so well. I was nervous about the heat but once I relaxed it all came back. It has been a while since I practiced but the community classes on Sunday's are a great way to ease yourself back in. The studio is the perfect balance of calm and accepting. I had never been to this studio but several friends had & have nothing but great things to say . The staff seem really great are helpful and Accommodating. Though only my second community class I think i will make this a part of my weekly routine. Community class is donation based and proceeds go to a different charity or charitable cause monthly. It's a great way to give back and grab up some zen. Namaste read more

i have lived down the street from this place for almost 2 years and am now just getting around to checking them out (yay unemployment!) but i assure you i will be back. its been a while since i've taken any kind of yoga class and it was good to be back. the space is beautiful and serene. there are 2 studios, which is great. the one my class was in actually has a curtain dividing it so it can be even bigger. very nice since overcrowding is one of my pet peeves in any kind of class. they have a pretty nice selection of classes that are offered 7 days a week. definitely excited to go back asap! read more

Beautiful yoga studio!

Hello, I would not recommend this Yoga studio to anyone. I was recommended to check out this location from a well known Yoga clothing store at the King of Prussia mall, which I will be contacting today to notify them to NOT recommend this place to anyone in the future. I spoke to someone on June 3, 2012 at the Wilmington location about attending the "Brand New Beginner" class that either began on June 4 or June 5 depending upon whether you took the evening class or morning class. Since this is a month long class, I was concerned that my fluctuating work schedule may not allow me to commit to a specific a.m. versus p.m. schedule and wanted to know if I could bounce between classes if needed if I wasn't able to attend each a.m. class that I wanted to take. I received a call back and was told I could, but I should try to make the class I signed up for if at all possible. Hence, I was told I could sign up on line, or I could sign up the morning of the class at the Wilmington location. I tried to sign up for the class yesterday as instructed but couldn't seem to figure out why I couldn't sign up for the a.m. class. This morning, I called and was told that the a.m. class was cancelled yesterday because there were not enough people that joined. SHAME on this company. I asked how many were scheduled and I was told two and I would have made three. Bottom line, Empowered Yoga shouldn't offer the class online if you aren't going to make the appropriate commitment to teaching the class or if you have plans on cancelling the class if not enough people join!!! I can't speak for the other two individuals, but I can say that you LOST my full time regular business in the future, plus I plan on telling as many people as I can to avoid this place because of the lack of consideration that you have for your potential clientele! Believe me when I say this, I will make sure that your lack of commitment to honor your advertised classes is fully heard to numerous potential clients that are thinking about taking yoga at your studio! Again, SHAME ON YOU!!!!! Hence, this class is still showing as being offered at 9:30 and there is NOTHING that is showing that it has cancelled. The girl today stated to me via phone that the class required 5 people to sign up for it to be held. Hence, if you knew this, then why didn't you make a note of this on your website and be truthful to everyone thinking about joining your studio? Lack of commitment and honesty on your part. I have been a member at Empowered Yoga for two and a half years and I practice at both the Newark and Wilmington studios. Both spaces are lovely (and hot and sweaty!). All of the staff and instructors I have encountered are friendly, encouraging and positive. They treat everyone the same and go above and beyond to make sure that your practice grows and evolves continuously and safely. After two and a half years, can I twist myself into a pretzel while still breathing long and deeply? No, but I am SO much better than I was. It is amazing to me that someone at my (not so fit) fitness level can practice alongside university athletes and 74 year old men and every level in between and everyone comes away from the class feeling empowered and centered and healthier every day. read more

Goodness, how has no one reviewed this place yet? I am not a huge fan of Bikram, but if there's one place that I loved doing it, it's here! The Brand New Beginner Class series is well worth it. I only wish there was such a clean studio w/amazing staff down in DC! read more

I have been going to this studio since I was 16 (9 years). I go off and on(when I have time and money)to relax, gain mental clarity, and train for my sport. I have never once had a bad experience until the other night. I like to go to the back of the room so I can push a little further, since I am using it for training purposes, and not disrupt the class. Most of the teachers are encouraging and helpful. However, I was deeply disapointed when instead of doing bent knee triangle, I went for the vine to get a little more stretch and the teacher came over and told me that doing something different "disruppted the flow" for the rest of the class and proceeded to manually force me back into bent knee triangle. She said it with such an abrupt, scolding tone that I didn't know what to do. She made me feel like I was trying to show off and be better than everyone else. She proceeded to watch me closely for the rest of the class and I felt so judged that the rest of my practice was ruined. I'm a teacher myself and I would never discourage a student from trying to better themselves. I will not be returning to any classes with this teacher, which unfortunately means I may have to find a different studio, since she seems to do a lot of the classes when I'm available. I have never written a bad review for anything, but I feel like yoga should be an open, safe space where you can express yourself, not a close minded regimen. read more
