When I lived in the area I used to be a bit more of a frequent client, however since moving out of state, I usually only am now able to visit at the holidays and maybe in the summer. This is a great place for a massage. Within here, I tend to bounce around to different masseuses, and have been very satisfied with them all. They have been friendly, professional, and listened and then focused on the areas of my concern. I tend to like a lot of pressure during massages and have found that they are more than able to provide that for the duration of my appointment. The rooms are comfortable and relaxing with soft music or nature sounds playing in the background (like most places might have). I always head out of the room lighter and am greeted in the reception area with a glass of water by my masseuse providing me with 'after care' instructions like drinking fluids and resting, and once even some additional self-massage tips when I had a chronic back issue. Prices run pretty average for massages here. This is truly a studio focused on healing and wellness, and I am always happy to visit when back in town. As a fun note, they usually offer a small (but welcome) discount on gift certificates purchased in December which makes for a great holiday gift!

I was charged $65 for a 1 hour full body massage today. Did they charge me wrong, or something? Typically, you're looking at $75 to $100 for a deep tissue, hour-long massage. And, when I've paid that in the past, the quality has been no where near what I get from John. Again, he does deep tissue with me, but I'm sure there are a ton of different people on staff, with different tecniques and specialties you can request. I would, and will, suggest this to. Even though I was guaranteed a result and they did not deliver anything close to it they refuse a refund of any kind, only offer credit to their salon. I requested a bright purple ombre/lived in type color. No color on my roots. I have very long hair that is a darker brown. I showed my stylist Lexie many photos of what I was looking for and she was very confident that she could do this to my hair saying to me "believe me when I say I can do this". I made the appointment. After the first appointment my hair was very dark, and had the slightest tint of very dark purple. I was told tomorrow when it is daylight it should be brighter. Tomorrow came and my hair was very dark almost black. I spoke with my stylist who said that she misunderstood what I was looking for, I then showed her a photo of hair she had personally done and trying to be more clear of what I wanted showed her that next to the color I wanted. She responded by telling me I now had the perfect starting point and if I came in a second time that she could definitely get my hair to where I wanted and I would just have to pay for product used. I trusted her and made a second appointment. After my second appointment my hair is even darker, you can see zero purple from the back, there is some color underneath like a peek-a-boo, with a bright "money piece" in the front of my head all the way up to my roots which i never asked for at all. I spent a total of $480 and my hair looks NOTHING like I wanted. I called to speak with the manager who told me "well your hair can not be that color" Which if this is the case I should have been made aware of that prior to spending $480 not after, i wasn't even told it was a possibility to not be that color my stylist guaranteed she could do it twice!. I then spoke with the owner on a friday and she said she would take the weekend and call me back Monday and we could try to find a solution and maybe meet in the middle somewhere as I told her I wasnt comfortable coming in a third time and wanted some kind of a refund so I could try to get my hair the color that I actually want it to be. Monday came and went and I heard nothing and then tuesday as well. I emailed the salon on Wednesday and ended up calling on Thursday. The owner told me that she will not refund me she will give me credit to her salon of $150 and that my hair looks beautiful and that how it turned out is subjective. (it is not subjective it looks nothing at all like the images I showed my stylist) Accused me of having previous dye on my hair when there was none and told me she would talk to her stylist about how she promised me my hair would be what I wanted. No way of actually trying to "meet me in the middle" as she had said . I feel I was completely robbed by this salon, if I had been told at the beginning there was a possibility they couldn't get my hair this color I wouldn't have gone in the first place. I went to Judy for massage therapy, and she told me it might feel a bit worse the first week, and it did a little. Went for a second massage one or two weeks later. Within days all my pain had disappeared. If I were better at taking care of myself I would have seen her on a regular basis after that, but like so many of us, I'm not. I'm now experiencing a lot of chronic pain and thinking of going back, which is what is prompting this long-delayed review. I have known Judy as a friend since the early 1990s, before she had even realized massage and integrative therapies would be her life work, and can attest to all the information about herself and how she got into this is true. She is one of the most focused and positive people I have ever met. Although we're not often in touch these days, I still consider her a friend. Friendship aside, my personality is such that I value competence very highly, and would only endorse someone this whole-heartedly because they are truly that good.

Now, as an adult, I've obviously had to limit my time at the chiropractor due to money, time at work, etc. I still feel the need to get adjusted on occasion, but honestly, nothing relives the pain like a good old massage. I feel better for longer and the tension in my neck and shoulders is gone. Since the place I used to go moved locations, I found myself in need of a new place to go. On the way home from a work event, I noticed the sign for Greta and made a comment. My boss said that she loved Greta and highly recommended her. So, there you go. I called Greta a few days later and made an appointment for the following week. Unfortunately, she had to cancel the day of, which I was not happy about, since I was looking forward to my massage for almost a week! However, she had good reason to cancel, left me a detailed message and even called me later just to ensure that I received the message, indicating she didn't want me showing up and she wasn't there. Alas, I rescheduled and found myself there a few days later. I had to fill out a form, with the typical info about my health, medications, allergies, etc. She took a few minutes to discuss what I wanted done. I explained the issues I have with my neck, back, and shoulders. I also said that I wanted a deep tissue massage. She said that she tended to be heavy handed...later I learned that she was indeed! The whole experience was very relaxing, from the heated massage table to the lighting and music. It was probably the best massage I have ever had. She took a lot of time, working on my specified areas. I have found other people to do the same routine over and over, even though I have indicted things like, 'please take extra time on my lower back', etc. So, as I said, she is indeed heavy handed, which I prefer. However, so much so that I actually had to tell her it was a little much. But, I still prefer the heavy hand to the opposite. I left feeling like I really had what I asked for, and my neck and shoulders felt much better for a least a week. (Having a desk job, I tend to tense up a lot.) It is $55 for one hour, but it you ask for strictly upper body, it is only a 50 minute massage, because I guess it is a lot of thumb work. My only tip would be to bring your checkbook or cash, because there is a $3 fee for using your credit/debit card. Otherwise, highly recommend!

But the major issue I have is that she never once gave me a full hour massage. I went four different times, all for hour-long massages. The first time I didnt check how long because I wasn't worried about it. The second time felt short, and when I checked the clock I saw that the hour massage I paid for lasted only 43 minutes. The third time it lasted 50 minutes. The fourth (and last time I will ever go) it lasted only 45 minutes. Where did my fifteen minnutes go? Fifteen minutes of massage is a lifetime, and I'm tired of getting shortchanged. How can someone think they can charge an hour massage and never come close to reaching an hour?!? That's insane to me. So for all the great things Greta does, the one thing she does wrong is unforgivable, from a customer relations standpoint.
