If you enjoy digging for a good deal, you can find absolute gems as bargains hit heavy as the seasons change or if you find an item that has been out on the shelves for a couple of months. The lower level carries items up to 75% off. From sunglasses to formal wear to jackets, Encore has it all and deserves an encore standing ovation with every visit. On my most recent visit, I was able to snag a pair of ADORABLE black Coach boots for half off ringing my total to a perfect $46. In addition, I found both Columbia and Sperry snow boots in the lower level allowing me to save 75% off on both pairs. I can't wait to see what I discover on my next visit. Great consignment store on two levels with tons of great stuff. I think everyone would be able to find something here that they like. I found some cute socks, some lounge pants, and a sports bra. This will be a regular stop when I am visiting for sure. Staff was friendly but let you browse and do your own thing. There's a nice area with changing rooms and mirrors as well. The prices are reasonable and their lower level has even bigger deals as well as cool vintage stuff. read more

My Mother was really disappointed after dropping off some high end clothes and shoes. Some of the sweaters were new and never worn. A few months later, my Mother said that she received a check for $7.00. My recommendation for the public is to either give your clothes to Goodwill and take the tax write off. It is too bad that Encore takes advantage of there customers. read more

The car thing is weird. The store advertises that shopping for used clothing is "great for the environment" will make you feel like you are not "contributing to the mass production of fast fashion." But then they require you to wait in your car until your name is called. The policy should be to give priority to customers arriving without a vehicle. read more

I used to like consigning here but now they require car ownership in order to drop things off. You would think that a business that cares about recyling would have instructions for people without a car. But no. You must own a car. read more

I love the variety of clothes at this consignment store. I am 60, live in rural Wisconsin and work in non profit fundraising. I moved from St. Paul so have always appreciated this store. I need a variety of clothes. So I love the hip jeans and professional clothes that are current, this covers Anthropologie to some Eileen Fisher. The staff is helpful and friendly. Very sweet staff, they directed me to the jewelry room, pulled out a purse for me, found a dressing room for me, all friendly smiles. All jewelry was new, bought in New York by the owner, one employee told me that. They have a clearance area in the basement. They have some brands separated by brand like Chicos. After at least a decade of being a shopper and consignor, And Jan the previous owner treated me with kindness and respect. I had my final negative experience with this shop now that it's under new ownership. I had an appointment tonight at 4:30 to bring in some items to consign. The ladies behind the counter looked at me blankly and didn't greet me or give me instructions on where to put the huge load of clothes in my hands. Instead they told me I didn't have an appointment and when I said I did and recognized the voice of the person as the same one telling me I didn't have the appointment she said she forgot to write it down. Then they sat and complained while going through my things. One of the lady"s was very rude. This staff needs a refresh on how to treat the consignors. I have never taken clothes to a consignment shop before. I was not impressed with the staff. I had an appointment, but was not greeted in a friendly manner. The staff person acted like I was infringing on her territory and her time. She seemed very flustered. I had a lot of high end designer clothes and was amazed that the nicest things I had, they did not take. So, I went on to some other consignment shops. All the same; crabby staff and they took the worst things I had. I had beautiful name brand coats and they took the one from WalMart! I must say though that the owner, Molly of Encore was very nice and did write me a very apologetic note. If everything sells that they took, it will be worth it. Otherwise, not so much. I was new to second hand selling/shopping and this store came highly recommended. I brought in about 15 purses and they only took 5...they didnt believe that my purses were 'real'. I ended up selling 3 of the purses, picked up the 4th purse and they 'lost' the 5th purse. They claimed it was stolen and that "there's nothing they can do about it". They didn't apologize, nor was I offered a discount for a future purse to make up for my loss. I also went in to collect my check and they were currently out of checks. I asked if they were going to charge me for mailing out the check the next day and one woman said yes there is a $1.50 charge to mail the check. I said, yes, but I stopped in to collect and you are out of checks, not my problem...I should not be charged. Another woman said, "fine we can waive the charge". My check arrived, short the $1.50. I then proceeded to take all my purses (as well as lots of shoes) out to Upscale Consignment in Woodbury and they took everything. I have sold just about all the items and I am very pleased I made the change. The women at Encore were not helpful and I felt as though they were looking down their nose at me the entire time in their store. I will not return, nor will I recommend this store to friends. read more

Having been back here several times since my initial review, I've decided that Encore's "regular" prices on many items are just too high - I may as well go buy something "new" at a discount retailer. Five stars for the welcoming owners and workers. Unfortunate for me, I am sized out and branded out of many of the store's clothes as they lean more towards the Chico's, Talbots, J Jill women. However, the staff is super friendly, explaining their pricing policy when they found out I had never been to the store before and telling me about the clearance section in the basement. Prices are reasonable for the city with shirts under $20, blazers $20 and up. Bright and airy, I only wished they carried stuff for me, but I'll stop by every once in a while on those days of window shopping. Set aside some time and give in to this pleasurable shopping experience. Aside from a wide assortment with high-end merchandise, there is the process itself. Every time I come here I am assisted by Susan, who is a consummate pro at her job. Actually, she doesn't "assist" so much as she directs the experience according to my preferences and needs. She will always tell me which items I try look better than the others, but then she can also pull out articles that I wouldn't have considered but are always a slam dunk for my body type and coloring. I leave the store with clothing I'm excited about, plus a new understanding of what does and doesn't looks good on me. Shopping should always be this constructive and reassuring, and you are not likely to experience this level of it at a modern department store. I have brought my sister here, and Susan immediately dialed into her coloring, her body type, and asked what work she did. She produced items that my sister hadn't considered wearing before, but my sister remains thrilled with the special jacket and other articles that she bought that day. I recently brought my mother here, who received the same exquisite service. My 75-year old mother felt like a queen for the day, as Susan quickly ascertained her best colors and styles and located possibilities to try. Spend some time here, either alone or with a friend. Gidalia R. This is my favorite place to shop for clothes. I have always been successful at finding the clothes that I need and that fit me when I've been there. They have a good selection of petite sizes which are hard to find and that are nice. Their clothes are in nice condition, not old, smelly or worn out like some of the thrift store clothing I've shopped at. The staff and new owner are super nice, they are there to assist you in finding what you are looking for, and they are excellent in helping you coordinate outfits because they know the merchandise and want you to have fun while you are trying things on. Susan was a former fashion designer, which means she has the flair to see what you are looking for, what looks good on you, and while you are trying on things, she will go through the store and find other items for you to try, which might enhance or make an outfit for you. Very nice people, great selection of clothes and accessories, and a great lower level with lots more clothes to check out with bargain prices! A fun way to spend an afternoon. So I asked, and the employee on duty exceeded my expectations! By working through the racks together I found the perfect dress, with assurance that it will be just right for the occasion as she had me walk around to check how it looked from all perspectives and both walking and sitting. Sad to say I was really disappointed with this establishment. I stopped by Encore on an early weekday evening, excited to check out the store for the first time because I drive by it just about every day. Upon entering, there were 1-2 other shoppers browsing the store. No employees acknowledged my presence until I attempted to go downstairs to check out the clearance section. The owner (presumably) decided 5pm on a weekday evening was the most opportune time to start painting the stairwell. When I approached, she remarked, "Ugh, do you really wanna go downstairs? Ugh - no one wanted to go down there all day, but now you want to go down there?" Since she clearly did not want me to go downstairs - despite the fact that she didn't just say, "Sorry, the downstairs area is closed today!" - but before I could tell her it was fine, she said, "Fine, fine, just be super careful, just go down." As I carefully descended the first and second steps, she exclaimed, "UGH SEE YOU MESSED IT UP ALREADY!" I looked down at the steps as well as my shoes and had no idea what she was talking about. I got the hell out of this place. A really depressing experience. read more
