The property management changed. They want a credit card on file like a hotel for "incidentals" even though we pay through our Thousand Trails membership. We found out after arriving for a week long stay for a conference that they all of a sudden no longer accept pop up campers, though we have stayed here before and spoke to people who called us to confirm our reservation and that we were coming. I hope Thousand Trails drops them from their network. This campground is not the same level of reliability as the other campgrounds. Now we're all packed up and screwed. It was the day we were leaving. We had a mechanical breakdown, we called the office and were told we needed to remove the rv and vehicle. We told them to give us an hour or so. They still said we couldn't leave the car. Finally, we had no other choice but to leave the car and were told we had to pay an extra day!!! Brutal way of conducting business! read more

We booked and stayed for Labor Day, premium sites are not really premium. We were on grass which flooded as soon as it rained and stayed like that for over 24 hours. The cottage that some family stayed in were sub standard at best. When asked to stay a extra hour they wanted a fee which was a little rediculous since not all amenities were available, but with all that being said the staff was helpful and kind and I have to say very organized. wow... where do I start..began camping here in sept of 2000 in our Coleman pop up with our kids.... now our grandkids are camping with us in same pop up which looks like new from staying in garage all these years... this is our 30th or so visit here and suddenly they tell us our pop up is no longer welcome... after a little barking, the asst manager let us in but basically said don't come back... new policy... the campground was half empty on this memorial day weekend where in years past it was full up and exciting...our cable did not work... the bath house was about 95 degrees.. the cafe is no longer open... the office help was rude, uncaring and slow to help...and the music at the pool was something that plays in a nursing home elevator....most of the guests were just there and not very happy it seemed.... lots of talk about new management ruining this place... I agree.. sad sad so sad... years past this was the place we always looked forward to visiting .... all done now I guess... cannot recommend this place at all anymore... read more

First time coming to Tropical Palms and I have to say we had the perfect mini stay. I had a group of about seven and we rented a cottage. Check in quick and simple. Folks at the front desk where super friendly and helpful. We had tons of questions and they had all the answers. They even had a number to text that not only did they provide updates on events that were going on around the resort like smores and food trucks but also were available to practically answer any questions you had. They had tons of amenities from mini golf, pickleball courts, heated pools both for adults and kids, pool and ping pong tables and more. I got to enjoy almost all of those with my kid. It was great. It was also peaceful and clean. The cottage I stayed at was very clean and nothing felt old or outdated. Also it was in close proximity to many restaurants and even an Old Town small amusement park with Ferris Wheels and other carnival rides. We didn't get to go but decided instead to hit up Disney Springs which was about 20 minutes away. Overall the family had a great time and definitely will be returning. read more

We stayed 10 days in our camper. On a positive it's convenient to theme parks. That's all. The park is overpriced and in need of repairs. Lots of trash around, cottages have been removed leaving pipes and wires protruding from concrete. Some cottages have really been neglected adding to the sketchy vibe of the place. There's spotlights on accents that aren't there. We tried to enjoy a poolside band but the smell of trash was too much. The bathhouse was clean and the laundry facilities were also. The dog park was over grown and neglected. I would not stay here again. We have prepaid and left early. Some gates are unlocked allowing anyone in on the old town side. We had stayed here years ago and enjoyed it. It's definitely got a different vibe now. Never again. read more

Overpriced for a RV campground that has terrible internet and cable service. Staff not helpful, Water pressure low due to water reducer installed at faucet. Pull thru sites are extremely short with no room for tow vehicle. Sites are very close to each other. Pool is clean but very crowded. Cafe closed and was informed by other campers that the cafe has been closed for months. We paid $120 per night and not worth it. read more

Best part is convenient location if you are looking to be near tourist areas but don't want to stay at the horribly shabby Orlando hotels. Other than that, as an RV'er the experience is not great. First of all, they have an online check in process which was a complete waste of time because when we got there the guard said oh we don't honor that you have to turn around and go inside. Yea right. We are over 50' you can't just turn around! This place is not big rig friendly btw. Really stupid round abouts that were probably put in in the 60's and never renovated for modern large RVs. Once we finally got to our spot, once you get over the fact that there are no trees, it's acceptable but certainly not above that. The sad part is there are very few RV options in Orlando so this place stays busy and has no incentive to improve. read more

The only benefit to this place is that it's close to Disney, but ft. Wilderness is so much nicer than this place and it's on Disney property! And sadly they think they can charge as much as ft. Wilderness. Overall the park is poor, tons of permanent residents that are just rude. Camp sites are so close to each other, like 6 feet. Campground is in a depressed part of town and no real safe. We took our dog to the dog park and it was overgrown and trash everywhere in it. The KOA or Ft. wilderness is much much nicer. read more

This new company has "changed" all the rules but do not tell owners of the changes, they lose packages that are shipped here and they employee service people who do not take pride in their work. Stayed here for a night, very close to Disney parks. Forest area option does not look anything like the photo. Lots of mud and gravel which is terrible when it rains, no concrete area. The morning we left we actually saw a family of deer. We will most likely give the place another shot to be able to enjoy the amenities. read more

We were planning to take our kids to a couple of the amusement parks and were looking for a place to stay that wasn't far from the parks. We discovered tropical palms and loved the amenities! We got the 3 bedroom cottage and it was perfect! We loved the pool, mini golf, and the staff is amazing! From the time we checked in, until the day we left, they checked on us, they even sent us activity events and made sure we were all having a great time! The park was safe clean and exceeded our expectations!! Nicki-jo in the front office is amazing! The housekeeping staff was super friendly and everyone made us feel secure and welcome! We'll definitely be back!! Our kids even wanted to leave Aquatica early just to go back and hang out at the resort! Can't wait to see everyone again on our kids next school break! read more

Very Sneaky!!!! Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. I booked a stay ant the RV site and advised 4 times to the office that I was driving from NC and will be arriving way pass 6:30pm. I was advised that not to worry that my paperwork will be left with the security guard. Upon arrival at 10:30pm the security guard kindly advised that because NO ONE in the front desk left a posted advising that I will be a late Check in he couldn't let me in. I had to go with my RV which is a travel trailer to a hotel across the street and make sure my family and I were at least able to get a good nights rest. The following morning at 9am I made sure to call and complain about the situation. I spoke to mr. Abbel who said he's the front desk supervisor and told me that he was aware that I called for a possible upgrade and that all the information was sent via email. I advised that I clearly told his employee over the phone that I will be arriving late pass 6:30pm and his employee at no time mentioned to me that apparently after 10:30pm we will not be allowed inside after I clearly told him to be advised I'm driving from NC. Mr. Abbel said and quote "well we sent you the information via email so check your email". I told him don't you think that perhaps it would be a great idea for your employee after being told that you are coming in late and pass your closing to let the guest know hey after 10:30pm you will not be allowed inside to set up. His response was and quote "we sent out the information via email and that is more than enough." Keep in mind in the email nothing is mentioned about checking in after 10:30pm FYI!!!! read more

This is not my typical choice of accommodations but I booked a standard cottage for 2 nights, because this place was on sale plus I had a coupon code for a particular hotel booking website. As you can see in the pictures I uploaded, our cottage came with an upgraded kitchen. Carpets need to be renewed or replaced to hard wood flooring. Bathroom sink was okay but the shower stall was old. There is a bedroom with a queen size bed. Plus there are one double size air mattress and queen size mattress in the loft, and queen size sofa bed in the living room. Needless to say, the beds are not comfy. But hey it accommodates 7 people! If you have a large family, and are planning to stay long on a budget, Tropical Palms would be a great choice. read more

I love this place. I go every year with my kids and we always have a wonderful time. Last time I rented a three bedroom cabin and it was enough for the six of us. The kitchen is comfortable and well equipped and the unit is always very clean. Just one bathroom but the resort has enough showers and public restrooms. The clubhouse is cozy and has a little convenient store with snacks and beverages. They also have a game room with a pool table and board games to enjoy quality time with the family. It's just ten minutes away from Disney and definitely the price is really good. The staff is super friendly. read more

So I have been reading the reviews here and yes, they have a hard check-in ban of 10pm ,as they called it their quiet time. They will not let your rig into the park and you have to sleep outside the gate till the morning. That was a weird as hell rule, but it is a rule they made very clear to me. Security is inconsistent. I was able to go in and out by showing my pass, but then I have another guard ask for my ID for no real reason. There seems to be no protocol. Regarding Checkin, we did the online version but it honestly seems pointless as you still have to go inside the office to get documents and pay. The sites are fine, we had premium pull though. Not many trees but everything is well manicured. Sites are level. WiFi is not free, which was disappointing. The location is why this park will always be successful- you are minutes away from the parks. It is hugely convenient. So yeah, you have to deal with some quirks but not a bad place. read more

Having come to Tropical Palms for years, their current policy of requiring a minimum 90 day reservation in December is a joke. We have come for Christmas vacation in our RV's every year since 1997 and that means absolutely nothing to this company. Not everyone is a snowbird or a retiree so we will take our business elsewhere. Yes, nice location, but in dire need of upgrading for sure! I have spoken to the manager regarding this minimum stay policy only to be told that's the rule and cannot be altered for anyone. How Sad! read more

Save your money...service is terrible. Cottages are dirty, dirty. Patio furniture broken and dirty. They wont even bring towels you have to bring them to the office and if they are out you have to wait and go back for some. We left to go to the parks for the day and they said they would drop off towels to our unit, they lied...no towels upon our return. Seams like a simple thing as they have so called "housekeeping" running around the "park" anyway. Really unhappy with they way we were treated and the lack of concern from the office. Oh and a word of caution if renting a golfcart (that are filthy as well) watch your power level as we barely made it to old town and back with the one we used as it would not hold a charge. read more

I've stayed at Tropical Palms, maybe four, or five times previously with very good experience in the Standard cottage. Tropical Palms is only ten minutes from Disney World. It's a great family place to stay with children. The reason I'm writing is that I had a bad experience renting the "Standard vacation cottage". I rented two cottages for my family and some of my kids friends. When I opened the door, I was mortified at the condition. I wouldn't even make my mother-in-law stay there, much less my family. When I complained, the Tropical Palms resort staff said that these cottages were old and due to be replaced at the end of the season. At the end of this, to sum this up, the Tropical Palms resort staff made a bad situation good and gave me two premium cottages at the same price. Please remember, when booking a cottage, ask what condition the cottage is in. All phone calls go directly to the on-site reservation office. (not some distant call-center) The staff is honest and very helpful when asked. Tropical Palms resort was sold a couple of years back and the new owner is making improvements. I hope this review helped. I don't want to cut down Tropical Palms resort, I just don't want someone else to have the bad experience that I had. Just please remember that Tropical Palms staff did make this GOOD! I would not hesitate staying at Tropical Palms again. read more

Depending on the section you are in, it can be a swing from nice to.....well, let's not say. They are reasonably priced. Our first site had only 30 amp service. You would have expected them to notice the 44 foot rig we came in and it's three air conditioners, but they didn't. They did, however, move us promptly and easily when asked. The new spot was closer to the park models, which are actually pretty nice looking on the outside if you don't think about what they are. Water hookups were unusual, coming straight out of the ground. The pool was packed on a holiday weekend. No surprise there. We ate in their cafe and were pretty happy with the standard burgers, fries and beer. We were here a couple years ago, came back, and would do it again. read more

We used to love this place. We have stayed in cabins for many years with large groups of friends both in cabins and campers. Some of the cabins are really nice and a good value but beware many of the older units should have been condemned years ago. Three years back I would have given 4 stars for mostly bang for buck and a nice place to have a short stay. The last few years have been a nightmare. After our most recent trip, none of our group will return. Apparently the management or ownership has changed. The new staff are unprofessional, I'll equipped and clueless on how to manage a resort like this. They harass the campers and tend to cater to live ins and long term campers. Last year one of our group had bed bugs in their premium cabin. Sorry to say our days at tropical palms are over. read more

This is our second time to stay here. The staff is courteous and friendly. The entire park is very clean and well maintained. There is a lot to do. It is surprisingly quiet here which was unexpected since we are here for spring break. After four years of continuous staying at Tropical Palms every time we visit Orlando, last night we had the most disgusting service at Tropical Palms ever. Tropical palms is very quick to call a guest to request the rest of your payment for a quick check in but never to inform a guest that a temporary quite time has been implemented. We were refused service due to a quite time that was being implemented for the night at 11:00, even after paying in full. We weren't the only family that were experiencing this situation that night, but after speaking with the security team this random policy implication on nights of major holidays, they have turned down multiple families on multiple nights. We were rejected when requesting to speak to a manger because "she was going to sleep!" Just to try to get our word in we contacted law enforcement and they agreed that there was not much they can do since it is private property but Tropical Palms was in the wrong enforcing a verbal rule. It wasn't until 2:30 in the morning when we had to setup the RV on the side of the RV Park entrance before the guard gate. I can go into further detail about the whole situation but after the rough night trying to keep my 3 year, a 1 year old, my wife who suffers from anxiety and my father in law with a serious heart condition calm, we all need the sleep this morning. After four years of using this RV Park for our stays we are taking our money over to the local KOA since in no way we are going to Sherwood Forest which is also owned by the same company. I have attached photos showing the company sight with their rules as of 5/26/18 at 2:24 in the morning. Please avoid this location if your looking for a magical start to your vacation, and prefer one of annoyance and rejection. read more

Pulling up you get the impression this is a beautiful resort. Then you get to your spot and it looks like you have been band to the most neglected part of the property. There were so many permanent/long terms that the place looked trashy with all their junk & clutter. Our sewage hook-up was a foot & half above the ground. We had to walk our sewage hose to dump. The bathrooms were clean and the pool was nice. With as big as the resort is, they definitely need another pool and way more furniture. The kids enjoyed the events for easter weekend and the dj at the pool was an added bonus. Our first night there a long termer called the office on us with a noise complaint. However, security never stopped, but the lady who called the next day was very rude to my sister. The next night, the same long termer called twice. Security came and said he drove by once & all was good, only reason he stopped the second time was because he called again. The next day, I got the call so I walked to the office to chat with staff. I explained to them security came to us and said we were fine. I know who is complaining, it is the same man who ties his dog to the rv all day until 11 at night (two can play this game). If you DO NOT like KIDS, then go to a 55 & older resort. This resort is not for people like you. They are close to Disney, hence the reason parents come with kids!! The staff was very pleasant when I spoke with them and apologized to my sister. We came here to enjoy the resort for Easter, not disney world. The elite spaces are TIGHT....so tight there is no parking for your vehicles and one truck was hit by the back swing of a trailer. Some of the park models looked to be in terrible shape on the outside, but we did not stay in any of them. We personally will not be back. The resort needs to be cleaned up a lot and the spaces need to accommodate your camper and tow vehicle. For what it cost to be a Thousand Trails member, some of the resorts they have are just not worth it. Oh and you have to pay for wifi if you want to use it and they will put you in a site that is smaller than your camper. So when you check-in, double check with the staff that your rig will fit. read more

The idea of a private cottage is nice - but it isn't what you may think. The televisions were old, the pullout couch bed was, well - not a bed I would allow my dog to sleep on. The second floor, if you can call it that - was nice - but the clearance between the bed and ceiling was 24 inches. There is no desk service after 11 PM - so if you have a concern - leave a message until the morning. Cleanliness wasn't that great - and the shower scared us - no draining cover, and the ceiling had water damage that gave the bathroom the feel of a Bronx tenement. Next time, I'll spend an extra few dollars for a hotel. read more

I have read negative reviews about this place, and can't find anything wrong with this place like they stated. Yes there is no maid service, but you are basically renting a cottage. Cottages are very cute and well maintained, Fun Spot and Old Town are literally a walk down the road, and the little flea market is cute as well. We stayed last night. I Was NOT HAPPY with our stay. We checked in at 10:00. The man at the guard shack didn't even ask for id. Then we get to our room and the couch was half open, stove was pulled out and the half the blinds were missing at the door. So anyone can look at us while we are sleeping and everything. I have kids and I don't was a perv looking at them while they are sleeping. So NOT worth $122 dollars a night!!!
