I was so fed up with the incorrect measurements, faulty blinds things kept having to be returned because they had measured incorrectly; terrible consultation. We were renovating our home for the first time in 16 years as a new build. We had Olympic Kitchens do our kitchen, I would never trust these newbies to take on anything other than picking a paint color. Even THAT was a challenge as she kept trying to guide me into the beige/ taupe world when I kept stating that is EXACTLY what I don't want. It was exasperating to keep reeling her back to my needs. If you want a house that looks like the twenty other kitchens they've done then go ahead and check them out. Zero originality, stuck in a box. I would never recommend them. Going local isn't always a good thing when you're paying $$$$ for reno's you want top notch and originality. You will NOT get this with this company. And I have to add that every time they messed on something they would try to blame it on every other thing other than taking responsibility. Hello! YOU took the measurements it's YOUR deal. They were so upset every mistake they made one and went into total denial. Of course they fixed it because they knew they HAD TO but the theatrics of how " they've never done this, or,they've never had this, or this has never been the case before" started wearing thin. This HomeSense store is part of a combo store with Marshalls. You can walk freely between the…read morestores without exiting one and entering the other through the main doors. My friend and I shopped at Marshalls first. There wasn't a sign that said that we were in HomeSense. If you are a regular shopper to such combo stores, you can easily tell when you are in HomeSense. You see kitchen accessories and gourmet snacks, furniture and decor merchandise, and much more. There were Fall and Halloween items already in stock. I'm not ready for this season. It's still hot and summery outside. Leave me alone! I liked seeing globes and a squishy, cute cat. The watermelon-themed merchandise was awesome, especially the beverage set with a drink dispenser. The mini mason jar set was nice, too. I also liked the kitchen accessories aisle, especially the ice cube moulds. I ended up getting a four-pack of mojito beverages in cans. They looked yummy. I also made a couple of purchases at Marshalls. I hit the checkout line. The good thing about this combo store is that you can buy items at both and only line up to pay for them once. The cashier that I had was friendly. She was having trouble finding the barcode on the drinks. We turned one of the cans around in the four-pack and she was able to scan it. I had my TJX+ Style barcode scanned from my phone. I then paid for my items with a credit card. It was a smooth transaction. I grabbed my items and placed them in my car. There is plenty of parking at this plaza. If you do enter HomeSense, you do need to go up a few steps. There's also a ramp if you are in a wheelchair. I enjoyed shopping here. My friend and I took a stroll along Queen Street while we were in Port Perry. We decided to check out Luke's Country Store. I'm so glad that we did. The store has quite the selection of decor items for your home, such as wall clocks and year-round wreaths. I enjoyed seeing snacks for purchase. One of the first things that I spotted was Poppy gourmet popcorn. It's made in Asheville, NC, which is where a friend of mine lives. I'm so envious of him, but I'm glad that I can get this popcorn without boarding a plane! You can also get Squish gummies, which include vegan options. What shocked me was going way into the back of this store and finding out that there's an entire Hallmark store. It felt like Luke swallowed Hallmark and it's now a card store within a larger store. I told my friend that we could be here for hours. I love picking out cards and looking at Christmas ornaments. She nodded, as she has been the recipient of the former and knows just how much I like choosing that perfect card for someone. Although I don't need wooden pears on a platter at home or gnome plushies on my mantle, this store is whimsical and cool. I had a great time looking around and making notes of gifts to get down the road. There were so many gift-giving ideas that you are likely to find a decent gift for someone who claims to have everything. I did grab a bag of Poppy dark chocolate pretzel popcorn. I have a weakness for popcorn, especially when it's fancy and looks yummy. I lined up at the checkout as my friend continued to browse. I got an older woman who helped me cash out. She was friendly and nice. I paid using my debit card. She put my popcorn in a paper bag, which was a nice gesture on a rainy day. I thanked her and we eventually left the store. It was tough! The popcorn was delicious. I was sad that I ate the whole bag in one sitting. I may need to return sooner than expected and try the other four flavours soon. I had a great experience here.
