We were supposed to move into a house and with a week notice they said the house was not available, found another for three months and then another year on another one which they wouldn't show us at all. we were desperate so we signed the contract for the first house. The didn't want to give it to us, made excuses about equipment not working. The inventory for the first house was all a lie, House was dirty (there was shit in the toilet), no curtains, bin bags everywhere, tools, carpet was missing in some spots, and they did nothing about it. Then we didn't want to move to the other house cause obviously they were saying they were too busy to show us the house. And they wouldn't give us the contracts still. They kept our deposit cause they changed the contract, saying we signed two. Avoid at all costs!!! They are cheap for a reason. At the beginning they treat you so nicely, but after you signed the contract and realised anything that you signed is truth and that they are playing with you, they will scream at you on the phone, and even in person. STUDENTS! DO NOT USE THIS AGENCY! Enfield are unreliable and they are liars. When viewing a house they quoted a totally different price to the website, then when we went to take the house off the market they then quoted another different price completely going back on their word. They also refused to give us written confirmation of the price whilst we went to think about the offer over the weekend. DO NOT USE THIS AGENCY FOR ANY REASON. I find myself to write the most horrible review on this agency. Do not use this agency for any reason. I started a contract with them more than one year ago, but i trying to get out of it as fast as possible. First, their service is generally more than bad. They do not promptly reply to maintenance issues and you have to call them thousand of times. Secondly, i received a notice from the council that the flat i rent is abusive and illegal. I have to leave the property in six month times and they didn`t even say "i`m sorry". Thirdly, they access the property without permission and the deny it also against the most obvious evidences!!! they are a dreadful agency, please do not use them if you wish to have a quiet stay in your flat. read more

Avoid this letting agency at all costs if you can! Especially students! The numerous problems my friends and I had with them during our tenancy was unbelievable. Even when you contacted them regularly and sent them emails on a regular basis in addition to looking after the property as well as notifying them of faults within the property (e.g. holes in walls and the unlocked garage), they still performed badly. The inventory had not changed from what we were sent when we moved in nor did the list of damages change from what was already there - we even outlined numerous items in an email stating what was already damaged and they still used these items to take a chunk out of our deposit. They even tried to make it look like they had given us a discount on the 'professional cleaning' and 'professional painting' that they completed. They didn't clean the house before we moved in and only the walls of the upper floor were painted, after which the 'builders' left the entire bath tub covered in paint which we had to clean out ourselves even though they kept informing us they would sort it for us. Contacting them via email is almost impossible and it was only once I had a massive go at them alongside threatening to give them invoices did I get any decent responses although completely indecently with Naz trying to unprofessionally flatter me through sweet talk when in reality we just wanted everything to be done by the book as stated in the contract rather than them 'giving us a break' for being good tenants (which they did not do as many of my friends had the same charges applied to them and deducted from their deposits). There had also been several times when the repair men had been told to just enter the property without notice despite it being stated in the contract that they need to give us 24 hours notice of any visits. Numerous other occurrences that were out of line also occured but are too many to recite here. If you do rent with them, make sure you send everything via email in addition to telephone calls so you have evidence of the way they have acted. I wrote a negative review of Enfields Lettings a few months ago, which I have now taken down because they threatened to sue me for it, and even called me to harass me about it. This tells you the kind of people they are. Anyway, here is an outline of my awful experience with them. All of which I have evidence to back up. Firstly, I have spoken to the Citizens Advice Bureau, Shelter and the advice centre at my university who all helped me with my case (the University has dealt with them before and has some other horror stories, but they're not for me to divulge). Firstly, they refused to give me the name and contact details of my landlord (I have emails to prove that they would not) which is illegal, and myself and my university checked with all the deposit holding companies numerous time and NONE of them had my deposit registered with them, which is also illegal (I have all the proof of this too if they try and tell me I'm lying again, as I'm sure they will be reading this). And yet they still refuse to give me all of my deposit back (which they also made us pay in cash by the way. A fact that shocked the Citizens Advice Bureau). As for the state of the property, on the day we moved in it was filthy. I had damp in my room that was never sorted even after we emailed them a number of times, my housemates and I were left locked out on numerous occasions because they would not fix the lock, I had a wasps nest outside my window which they would not sort out either. The state of the house when we moved in was disgusting, and when we tried to ask questions about when the issues would be sorted, on the day we signed our contract, they actually said 'I'm afraid the question and answer session is over'. They also said to my housemate on another occasion 'What do you expect for the price you are paying?'. I started legal action against them and the only reason I am not continuing to take them to court is because I just want them out of my life now.
