It felt tantamount to extortion. While I fully support what photographer do and understand that a lot of work goes into the final product, the outright refusal to work together -- or worse accept any type of non-cash payment -- shows that Michael Carr Photography does not care about long term customer care. We would never consider using them again in the future knowing this is the way past clients are treated. (Not to mention, the wedding photos in question put them on the COVER of The Knot at the time. They got their money's worth in referrals alone.) Choose another photographer who works in the modern age and cares about their customer's experience. Lisa and Michael do not. I knew immediately that I wanted to take family pictures with my family (which consists of two dogs and my long term boyfriend). I immediately thought of my sisters wedding photographer, Christine Meeker Pictures, who did such an amazing job at her wedding in January. Boy am I glad I called them! I called on a Monday and spoke with Laurie, she was so sweet, caring and professional. After explaining what I wanted she had me booked that same week on Thursday! Such a quick turn around! When we arrived for the pictures, their studio was amazing. We loved all of the outside setups and props that we were able to take pictures in front of. Even thought my dogs were a little crazy with all of the stimulation, Christine and Jennifer were fantastic. They were so patient and you could tell how much they love and enjoy what they do. One thing I really loved was during each picture grouping Christine would say, "Got it!" when she got the picture. It was such a wonderful experience during such a difficult time for my family. Before leaving, they already had me set up with a date to come back and review the pictures. The review process was amazing with Amanda as well. I loved the set up of the room and how she went over all of our pictures in a slide show format. It felt very personal and was a great touch. Now to the pictures themselves... They are absolutely amazing! I couldn't have asked for a better turnout. I loved all of them, so it was difficult to choose which ones I wanted. I ended up ordering three prints of different sizes and a book. Words can't express how happy I am and how much I will treasure these pictures. The cherry on top of my experience with Christine Meeker Pictures was that after it was all said and done, Amanda asked how Dutch (my dog) was doing. It was that extra step that sealed the deal for me. I will definitely be calling them again for any future picture occasions!

Less than an hr before our booking…read moretime (11:30) on a Saturday, we received a call that my reservation would have to be cancelled due to some water leaking into the building from the rain the night before. I was devastated of course. What's worst is the way the situation was handled by Douglas. Although he was not rude, he did nearly nothing to help us. I feel in that type of situation, you would go out of your way to help find another studio. Instead, he sent the photographer a list of 10 studios. (Mind you, I can pull up a list on Yelp just as easily.) My poor husband and brother dealt with my panic but luckily another studio (not on Douglas' list) came through. To top it all off, I was told via text that our deposit would be returned by end of business day on 9/9. It is 10/1 and we are just now receiving our deposit back. While the studio looks nice and the booking process was simple, I guess be cautious if Houston is going to be having any type of rain or inclement weather. Have a backup plan with this studio especially if you have a special event/time you are trying to capture. The customer service was subpar.

He is friendly, charming, easy to talk to, with a great sense of humor, and kept the crowd partying on the dance floor the whole night. Everyone loved him! The songs played were awesome. For reference, my wedding was in October 2007. I first contacted them in March 2007. I filled out their forms, and agreed to pay them $500 for their services. They do not require a deposit. I contacted them again in August to make sure they still had us in their schedule. They did. I contacted them again at the beginning of October so that I could meet with my DJ and discuss song choices with the DJ. One of the DJs called me back and told me he'd be DJing my wedding. He was kind of rude and kept saying, "I can't believe you've waited this long to get a DJ, I can't believe you've waited this long to contact us!" After SEVERAL of these comments, I was like, UMMM I first reserved yall in March. He seemed surprised. Later in the conversation, he said he could meet with me to talk in Round Rock. I live in Houston. My wedding was going to be in Houston. He was shocked, he thought my wedding would be in Austin. Apparently, because my cell phone number had a 512 area code (I went to school there), DJs Unlimited assumed my wedding would be in Austin and didn't take the time to read a few lines down on their form and see that my wedding would be in Houston. So they assigned me the Austin DJ. Fine. I guess that's an easily-made mistake. A few days later I met with this DJ in person. He kept making comments like, "Wow I've never met a bride like you before, I can't believe you haven't chosen these songs yet!!!!!" He wasn't saying this in a joking fashion, he was actually taken aback by my "lack of preparation". And the songs he couldn't believe I hadn't chosen were the flipping cake cutting song and anniversary dance song. I apparently wasn't bridezilla enough for him because I wasn't f-ing freaking out about the cake cutting song! Anyway, I was not very happy with being insulted by a DJ. During this meeting, I also paid an extra $250 for a screen and projector system to be set up and run during the beginning of the reception. When I met with the reception people, they told me I could get a screen and projector for them for $150. I contacted DJs Unlimited and told them I was canceling my order for the screen and projector. I get another call from the DJ concerning my songs, I think we were confirming another song choice. He again seemed to be under the impression that my wedding was in Austin. I told him it was in Houston. Fast forward to a few days before the wedding. I receive a call from another DJ, different from the one I previously dealt with, and he tells me he will be the DJ for my wedding. Okaaay. Fine. This guy tells me that he knows where my reception location is and he will see me on Saturday. The DJ was fine at the wedding, although of the 5-6 songs I requested be played that I had discussed with the first DJ, only one was played. These songs were special to my husband and I, and they were left out. The real irritation I had with DJs Unlimited was that it took them a good 5 months and many, many phone calls for them to refund my $250. I was so irritated. I first canceled the order in mid-October and did not receive a refund from them until mid-March. To be honest, I would not recommend DJs Unlimited to anyone. They were probably the most difficult wedding vendor I dealt with. I did not appreciate being insulted by the first DJ, and I really didn't appreciate them constantly telling my husband our check was in the mail when it wasn't. They get two stars because the DJ at the wedding was an overall good DJ. Dealing with the company, however, was not a good experience.

The final mosaic turned out amazing -- we're planning to frame it and hang it in a prominent spot as a fun reminder of the night. Snapix was professional and reliable from start to finish. They arrived on time, set everything up seamlessly, and handled the breakdown afterward without a hitch. Parties should be fun for everyone -- including the organizers. That's why it's so important to hire a vendor who does exactly what they promise, when they promise, and takes the stress off your plate.
