It was my first time going back into a psychiatric or therapeutic environment in over 10 years. I never had issues with any outfits prior to enlighten. I found that the med PA just treats you like you are drug seeking, even if you don't abuse drugs. The therapist I got at the time was unprofessional and I felt worked diligently to reinforce all of my negatives intentionally. Didn't take or refer to notes, then would question me on things I didn't bring up or had nothing to do with me. The therapist was dismissive and mocked some things I tried to bring up, including at that time alcohol abuse and suicidal tendencies. That was when they could appear interested in anything I had to say or weren't acting put off by my presence. Some of those things were things I never brought up before. That was all when the therapist wasn't canceling appointments and rescheduling for 3 to 5 weeks after the last canceled appointment. Some secretaries there were great, and the others were rude, belittling, and gossipy. I wasted 6 or 7 months of my time there and came out worse than when I went in. The secretary didn't seem surprised that I was closing with the therapist but did seem shocked that I was closing with enlighten all together. I didn't feel it was a safe place and had to choose between bad treatment or no treatment. To the person seeking help you should look for compassion and empathy first. Don't just sign on with any outfit for the sake of finding something Update!!!! I complained to the insurance company. Therapist and Enlighten are comfortable liars claiming I never expressed SI issues and I canceled my last appointment when it was the therapist via the secretaries. Update!! The experience that I've had at Enlighten has always been positive. The staff at the front desk have been polite and knowledgeable. Dr Patel and other physicians have been knowledgeable of mental health, medications and doses for each individual. They all respond quickly when there are ever any concerns or questions regarding the individual and the medications. They work well with local pharmacies also!
